My guess is Keynote on the first week of Oct (3-7 Oct) and iPhone launch a week later.

One word reaction to this article: YAY!!!!!!!!! :D The sooner the better! Please let the event be way before October 5th Apple!

I'm just excited for iOS 5. I had the 2G iPod touch when it was announced so my hopes of getting it then were done.

Agreed

so excited for IOS 5....That makes having to wait for the 5 less bareable knowing that i can use ios 5 on the 4 until i get the money for the 5.

iOS 5 GM and invites on the 23rd?

Media Event & Public iOS5 release on the 30th?

New devices Launch Oct 7th?

Basically my thoughts...pretty sure we'll hear a peep out of Apple this week.

I think it's a huge jump to think that a data reset implies that the release date will follow the next day, or even very shortly afterward.

A data reset suggests that Apple is changing something fundamental (e.g. the format), or otherwise fixing something that can't be done without a reset. If I were doing that, I'd want to beta test that for a while (with developers in this case), before going GM with it. The length of that test would depend on how confident I was of it being problem-free, and whether any additional problems/needed changes turn up.

Once it goes GM, the cost of a reset goes way up, both in data transfer and customer confidence. So, they would want to be very confident that they won't need to do that again, at least in the foreseeable future.

You have ruined the mood now lol

When the GM is released, is it available to anyone or still just those who have a developer account?

If I'm running iWork beta and my documents are already synced with iCloud, will the local documents on my iWork be gone after the wipe? Or will I be able to sync them right back up to the server?

Developers will get it first and then a week or two later everyone else. Apple will need time to approve app updates.

It's available for anyone to download, usually. You have to download the actual IPSW file rather than getting it via iTunes, though. It's not recommended to do this, though.

Agreed, lol.
Good thing you just fixed your post. No, it's not available for anyone to download.

I'm hoping for a short notice keyote invite and and keynote on 23d. A man can dream right? More than anything I'm waiting to see of Sprint will get it. So nervous!!!!!!!

I'm guessing the GM will go live at that time and no betas will be allowed to backup going forward.

Well the files usually find themselves onto the web, but you aren't supposed to download it. From prior GM versions, I've seen people download it without a UDID.

That would be pretty awesome. I cant wait for iOS 5. Did people who downloaded it without a udid have a fully functional phone or did the phone part not work?

after looking at all these october predictions, and then looking back at all that happened/didn't happen and when it did or didn't in 2011, i realize that apple either has some huge master plan, or steve jobs really was away for a while.....
