Thing are different this year.
Last time kids.
Apple will not release the GM before any new iPhone is announced because if they did people would find out about the new phone before it is announced. The GM will have specific info on said new phone.
And any new features they will want to demo (speech recognition).
i think iOS 5 needs to be out in public release form in time for this event?!

Thing are different this year.
the only thing different is apple moved the iPhone release, maybe because of hardware issues or because apple wanted to split the hardware and software announcements up, who knows.
That doesn't effect apples roadmap though, they will still release GM's at the event and release it to the public when the iPhone goes on sale.
It's never going to happen any other simply because Apple needs an event to update developers and give them the go ahead to start submitting iOS5 ready apps, and before anyone says they are already being submitted, just because it says iOS5 compatible doesn't mean it is since apple won't approve anything compiled in the latest build of Xcode.
Once apple gives developers the green light, they then needs a week or two to allow developers to submit apps ready for the public release.
So please, stop with all the dreaming... it's never going to happen, the next is either going to be another beta or nothing until the event.
Indeed. On a side note, why are there so many public announcement from major firms lately?
Why exactly would someone want their iPhone back-up on the cloud? I'm serious, what are the advantages? Wouldn't this waste space on someone's iCloud account. This would use up over 25% of someone's iCloud account - for a file you would rarely even use. Seems to me this is just for sht n giggles and would be more practical to just keep your back-up on a local computer.
So no iOS 5 GM today then? Too late?
I wouldn't count B8/GM out until 6 PST.
You say the GM comes out at event everytime but the iPhone also came out in the summer everytime too.
Anyone else having icloud backup issues since they reset everything on 9/22? Mine said that I had 5 of 5GB free, and when I tried to do an iCloud backup, the backup failed, but my space free went down to 1.3GB (which is what it's normally at when backups work). It keeps saying last backup was "Never" though.
