I hope they upsize all of their stores.

At least at the store in Rosedale Mall MN. Customers are packed in like sardines and constantly bumping into each other, while I try to wait patiently to meet with a genius 30 minutes past my appointment. Apple should take note that there are many locals who avoid the Mall of America at all co$t$.

When it comes to these iconic stores as Apple likes to say, I will start with the West side store ... Apple proclaims how eco friendly it is supposed to be yet opens a store like this that says nothing eco friendly and plenty of power wastage in lighting, heating & cooling.

Mixed messages and not necessarily a great way to project your brand.

Do you speculate all the time or just new at it?

Were you involved in the building of this store?

Apple needs to get back to restoring its "just works" reputation. That reputation has been a bit tarnished lately with Apple's massive growth into lots of different product lines. While the growth is good, the almost inevitable downside is that they have had a slip in the "out of the gate" quality of its products.

It just seems like the "Gucci" side of Apple has had an overemphasis while the "Wozniak" side of Apple has suffered as a result.

Lots more bugs lately than in the old days....but everything "looks" better.
Maybe because things are WAAAYYYY more complicated these days, bugs are more common. The more simple something is, the easier it is to perfect it. Of course, I'm just spit-ballin' here.

My home town (Tacoma) will be getting one of those 50 next year. I'm looking forward to it.

In order for those to be successful Apple needs to keep ahead of the curve in innovation. A tablet/netbook would certainly help. :D

Hmm . . glass and wood is all I ever see in Apple stores.

More than a temple to Apple's producs it looks like a temple to Apple's vanity.

Hmmm... Yes. It does appear that Apple is trying to elevate itself to the level of divine being, this being a cathedral to worship it in. And this appears to be part of a plan.

It's a computer shop at the end of the day.

I dunno, Apple is p***ing me off more and more lately.

Yeah. They should have rented a trailer and installed some nice fluorescent lighting.

People are morons.

I wish I could work at this store, it's beautiful.

As for those complaining about the size, well it is located in The Big Apple, so a Big Apple Store is fitting if you ask me.

I for one would LOVE to see Apple move to a larger retail space at Arden Fair in Sacramento, CA when that becomes available. The reason is simple: go to the store on weekends and I'm surprised the fire marshal hasn't shut down the store given how overly crowded that store can be.

Haha I don't know why people are angry about a store opening. Even if Apple opened an Apple trailer store it would still rock lol. :D

Look on the bright side....

Maybe all that glass with a southern exposure will lead to the re-introduction of matte screens on all Apples.... ;)

(pun intended...)

I remember back when Mars Music closed, the CEO gave those exact reasons why the stores failed.

Apple tends to do better at things then other companies, but I think this will still fail.

I mean I don't what a huge sterile iconic store. I want a store that I feel welcome at, were I can find the things I like a good prices. That's what Apple should be focusing on on a retail level.

Judging from those photos, I would not step foot into that store. It's horrible, looks so half-assed.
Yes, they should stop their world beating retails strategy that yields a much higher per square foot revenue than any other retailer and instead copy CompUSA. Oh, wait.... CompUSA went out of business.

Have you been living under a rock? Apple has been at this retail store business for a few years now and they are turning a nice profit in a recession when other stores are going out of business.

We'd rather not be patronised in the stores we patronise. They have greeters at PC World, too. Never fails to put a scowl on your face.
I have to ask you, who pissed in your cornflakes? Why would you get upset of something so trivial? Light up a bit.

M$ can't keep up.

Apple can create some really beautiful stores. Not copy, CREATE. Need I say more.

Bring it on M$, how deep are your pockets.

^^^ lmfao I love this post!!!!

And to know where all your money goes when you buy Apple, possibly look here:

If you think about it, it's got to cost a pretty penny for all this razzamatazz and it's got to come from some where!

Good thing you told us, cause without that graph we've all seen posted in every thread on here in the last three years by some seriously masochistic PC nut, we'd have no idea how... the most basic principle of every business on earth works.

Yaknow, it's one thing to sit on a website talking about something as trivial as your opinion on the aesthetics of a retail store opened by the computer company of your choice, but man, the level of purposeless in your life required to sit on a site and talk about something as trivial as your opinion on the aesthetics of a retail store opened by a computer company you don't even own a computer from, or even like at all... I mean seriously, how pointless is your life? I can only hope, for your sake, that you're a kid in high school, as indicated by your post. At least you'd have an excuse. Hope all your dreams come true, kid.

I find it funny that I remember when NYC only had 1 Apple Store on Prince St and now we are getting a 4th, a few blocks from my school no less. I feel so spoiled. :)

You should live in Silicon Valley. Can't throw a rock without hitting an Apple store. When I need to bring my MPB in for service, I actually have to sit and decide which store out of the 5 conveniently located to my home or office I feel like visiting that day. And that's not even including the Company Store in cupertino.

Iconic or not, I'd love to see an Apple Store show up next year down in south Alabama where we are. There is cash to burn down here, and there's not an Apple Store to be found. Hopefully one of the 50 opening next year will be down this way; it would also make Apple Care a breeze!

One time, for spring break, I drove through south alabama to get to Panama City. I'm pretty sure I saw the cash burning. Well, *something* was burning. I'm pretty sure it was the cash.

I also enjoyed the billboard that advertised, I kid you not, "The Giant Rat-Eatin' Frog."
