32GB is not enough. What is needed is a microSDXC slot.
Lol. That be the day when hell freezes over... Lol hell steve jobes didnt allow it... [sarcasm] Maybe now he passed on his ghost wont be haunting the halls of apple hq anymore... [sarcasm off]:D;)

Hopefully this is one big iOS device announcement and we get an ipad 5 and ipad mini (hopefully) retina.

0% chance.

Why distract users with so many new products at once?

Even copySumg only announces S4. Than Note 3 at different events and announces tablets at different event.

iphone event

Let me get this straight. Apple is taking last years model iPhone 5, throwing an s on it and now calling it a NEW phone to be released Sept. 10th. Hmmm, isn't that like taking last years food, putting this years label on it and re-selling it in the stores? Snake Oil Salesmen now working for Apple.

A low cost iPhone would make a really great pre-paid second phone indeed.

Heck it might even help pull me back to the iPhone as a primary.

We could all hope, but Apple couldn't do that much product advancements that quickly.

Why did Apple stop innovating?

Korea > USA

Samsung > Apple

Bring back Steve Jobs or an Asian CEO and design team to replace Cook and Ives.

Please no iPhone C... Not even the 3G with it's plastic shell was low enough. History teaches us some things.

do you understand that India and china cannot afford the iPhone? apple is going to serve those markets. it's not for you.

----------

if a iPhone 5c is required to compete in places like Asia and South America, they should do it there. Bringing the 5c to the States will just devalue the brand imo...

just like the iPod did...oh, wait. it didn't.

----------

Will anyone but the hardcore Apple fans even care?

The world that I live in doesn't hold its breath waiting for day-late dollar-short announcements from Cupertino.

what world is that? here on earth apple's product announcements spawn main stream media attention and lines of people, as the products become industry best sellers in each category.

Predicted this date weeks ago. It's always the first or second Tuesday in Sept.

Hope we also see some new iPods. I'd love a 128GB version so I can finally replace my old iPod classic.

btw. fingerprint sensor - so the robbers will take your thumb to ?

nope. there's nothing stopping thrives from threatening to cut your fingers off if you don't give your PIN, but it doesn't happen. either because 1) you give up the device and unlock it for them, or 2) muggers don't care that much because they sell them cheap to phone rings that can wipe them.

----------

And on another note I think Apple is slowly falling into the 90's curse. Too many product lines. And there's no Jobs to cull them all and bring it all back to reality.

really, whys that? profits reduced to a trickle? cash reserves near exhausted? lack of interest in their products...all the '90s symptoms? er, no.

----------

.
Looks like plastic junk toy

it's not for you.

but it's funny that your tired crit is the same one applied to the original Mac, the iPhone, the ipad, etc... I'll bet on apple over you.

Sadly many people have no idea what's going on in the wider world. They live in their own little bubble.

Apple need a cheaper iPhone to target emerging markets, they need a more colourful and youthful iPhone to appeal to the teenager and 20 something market. I think the iPhone 5C would address both those markets.

They also need a larger screen option but I expect that will come next year.

I wonder if they will offer a 128gb version? I keep so many shows/photos/podcasts/apps on my phone, I could actually use that space as ridiculous as it may sound.

I know, first world problems. ;)

You would not be but I am. And Apple should not be comparing itself to the bottom of the barrel competition. Apple should only compare Apple to itself. And better its own standards. When you are at the top the only standard worth bettering is your own.

In what way is Apple comparing itself to "bottom of the barrel" competition?

Predicting: This event will be a fail, just like iOS 7 is, customers will complain about buggy and ugly OS, fans will whine about iPhone 5S lacking innovations, new customers won't differentiate between iOS and Android and will buy cheaper Android phones, stock will drop, Cook will fire one or two more guys, Mansfield finally leaves Apple and this is the beggining of the end. iPhone 6 will be an ugly disaster due to a lack of original ideas. iWatch will be a bulky gadget with complicated unintuitive interface, Apple TV will never see the light of day.
Sony will then make a movie about a guy who destroyed the greatest company in the world in just 3 years, titled "How to Cook the Apple". Scott Forstall starring himself.
Then Scott tries to revive Apple, succeeds and Apple is in its glory again for the next 20 years. Then the story repeats itself.
End of prediction.

you muse be new. welcome. if you review apples product history you'll discover they've been doing a tick-tock strategy for iPhone exterior design. that strategy entails reusing the exterior while placing new hardware inside of it -- double the CPU, gpu, ram, storage, antennas, etc...

do you get so worked up over home receivers using the same body design for a couple years?

funny, people have been predicting DOOOOOM for apple since its inception. yet it just keeps sucking in more and more profit in more markets.

You must be new...

They made it so you can pause videos by looking away! And more importantly made it so you can turn this and the other new features off! /s

I'm surprised they let you turn that feature off. It could be great for advertisers. Imagine video ads that you *have* to watch. They could be used to subsidise the cost of phone: $0 up front cost and $0/month service charges! Provided you watch a mandatory 5-10 minutes of video ads per day.

Perhaps we will see something like this in the next generation of Google/Android phones?!

The "iPhoneC" should be could the "iPhone5S" and the regular iPhone should be called the "iPhone6" and do that every year.

I'm assuming you didn't follow too closely the iPhone 5 and later iPad 4 + iPad mini debut events last year?? Remember the iPhone event was on 12/9 and the iPad event was sometime in October.

Seems smart of apple in a way in that the iPhone gets a months press & hype and then the iPads take the spotlight along with the iPhone all the way till Xmas.

But yes what's curious is when the iMac + MBP with retina + Mac Pro and Mavericks will all be announced. Like surely apple won't have 3 events no way...

Maybe iPhone + iPod + mavericks + rMBP and then iPads + Mac Pro + iMac / Mac mini / Apple TV even?

Well, I must have skipped the iPhone 5 and iPad 4 + iPad mini part.

Of course it's in a way smart, but nonetheless, if some person wanted to be at both events he'd have to take some time off twice within one month apart. I'm only sayin'... :p

How is Samsung innovating over Apple? Like exactly.

The Samsung Galaxy Note started a new category. SGN2 has sold 10s of millions and spawned many copies to date.

Samsung has the highest resolution displays in 13 inch laptop, highest dpi. Samsung makes the best and highest quality display so much so that Apple has gone back on their word and will once again use Samsung displays. Off the top of my head.
