I think you will find that you cannot buy a 5C other than Asia. 4, 4S, 5 are the lower cost options

And where did the 5C prices come from? I expect it to be more expensive than the equal Android, but at a point where "its worth the little extra to finally get an iPhone"

My thoughts

Not sure Apple is going to make the statement that Asia cannot afford a non 5C phone ;) and they need a cheaper version to the expansive western world one.

I keep seeing if it's not $300 or less it's gonna be a fail, emerging markets blah blah. Firstly we don't know who the 5c is supposed to be targeting, and won't know till we get more information. The 5c doesn't have to hit $200-$300 it doesn't have to compete on price with the cheapest lowest end android phones. All it has to do is be significantly less than the new high end iphone. Maybe apple is targeting the middle of the market. They get a NEW phone, not last years model, with colors, to go after the midrange. If apple was going to go after different price points wouldn't they target the middle first, before going to the bottom if they ever do.

OK, so you mean a $500 phone with less features and weaker performance than the real iPhone? Well that's more or less what's been on the shelves with the 4 and 4S. In this case, no need for a 5C if that's all they come up with.

And that's a price policy that leaves Apple with a steadily shrinking marketshare.
You may say: who cares about marketshare anyway?
Well ... catching smartphone buyers who cannot afford the current iPhones seems to be precisely the purpose of a 5C.
=> One hundred $ less to pay won't cut it, not even 200.

If this event occours in september it will only be to show us the fastest iphone ever. The 5S.

Thats it. You can quote me on that. I am as good source as any.

Well, I'm wondering... will the other updates, such as the rMBP, iMac, Mavericks, etc. be silent upgrades? I don't really know whether it's really so doable for Apple to have an event in September and one in October. Have never heard of anything like that before.

Or will it be an event for all the products, telling us though that rMBP, and co. will be released like beginning October?

To me at least, having two events after another, don't make much sense. Surely, the developers and visitors will have difficulties taking one week off in such a small time scale?

I assume Tim will mention over and over how much bigger displays suck in quality and how a child can even touch the whole part of the screen one handed because of the small size :)

I'm assuming you didn't follow too closely the iPhone 5 and later iPad 4 + iPad mini debut events last year?? Remember the iPhone event was on 12/9 and the iPad event was sometime in October.

Seems smart of apple in a way in that the iPhone gets a months press & hype and then the iPads take the spotlight along with the iPhone all the way till Xmas.

But yes what's curious is when the iMac + MBP with retina + Mac Pro and Mavericks will all be announced. Like surely apple won't have 3 events no way...

Maybe iPhone + iPod + mavericks + rMBP and then iPads + Mac Pro + iMac / Mac mini / Apple TV even?

Your average user will not require 32gb. Even 16 is plenty. Most users treat third iPhone as just a phone, not a smartphone and multi media device. Apple will no doubt offer 64gb at a price point .

microSDXC is still required. This is the worst aspect of the iPhone.

I am "forced" to upgrade as my ATT contract expires 10/1, and currently in their early upgrade window while free to consider all after 10/1. Since ATT doesn't reduce the rate when the phone is paid for, don't want to give them the free money...which is what forces me to upgrade, and will be joining the Apple family this time.

Great timing! Fingerprint - yes, more megapixels - meh, twin LED - meh, IOS7 - presume shortly after 5s release, will be rolled out to older models - like my iPad, and the newer existing iPhones. (I am a photographer, and cramming more megapixels a small sensor increases noise, plus the LED will not trigger off-camera supplemental flash.)

The biggest question is price. Will it take the $650 mark of the current 5 (and Samsung 4s, HTC One, and other competitors) . If so, what will the current 5 drop to. That makes the choice interesting if only valuable difference is fingerprint and an updated processor.

Is this another year without a large Apple iPhone. I know the iPhone is awesome and all but Apple needs a bigger iPhone to compete with Samsung's 5 inch phones.

If no larger iPhone comes out this year, and I don't think it will, then I think that the execs at Apple have taken on this size iPhone as a Commandment from God(Jobs).

Advice once given to me, "You're F'in up." and "You're missing out." applies to Apple's psychotic hold onto the small iPhone.

Its interesting to see how this develops. I mean its an interesting deal imo if the color phone would be around the 300- 350 euro range... In my personal experiance i would take an iphone over an android (remember PERSONAL experiance. So i wont get kicked to death by fanboy of the other side... Lol) anyday... But know imo if the iphone colore be 425 or more then why schouldi pick that over an "regular" iphone?... Other then the colors, what would justify its price. If i want add color i could as well get a colored case.... But that jsut my 2 cents :p not that aplle schould everlisten to the little man... It goes where. The green is... :D:apple:

I'm always excited to hear about new announcements, and have been an Apple enthusiast for a while, but I'm ready for some differentiation in the hardware! How about a waterproof version, like Sony and Samsung have done? Anyone else agree that Apple is falling behind the Android hardware manufacturers? Apps will always be better on iOS, but the hardware is starting to lag behind, at least in terms of features and options (the idea of NFC and the fingerprint sensor are cool though, especially NFC as I live in Japan). Thoughts?

You got my up vote. Its one of the amin reason i withheld to drop my money from a 4 to a 4s. Though i knew partly they wouldnt increase it then i still gat hope. Plus the step from 4s to 5 wasnt all too big either. I would never just buy the number iphones imo. The numbers are there to work thr bugs out and the s iphone are thte real finished products imo

Agreed, but Android fanboys are freaking brutal...makes one wonder why they frequent this website/forum except to be trolls anyway. One of my close friends is always giving me **** on my Facebook, and every reason I give him is never good enough. It's like they always forget where and why Droid changed to be like iOS anyway.

Would you consider the mini or shuffle to be lower models? I consider them to be aimed at different activities. My shuffle is purely for excise, my iPod classic is purely for music listening due to it's capacity and superior sound quality .

Well as we all know. iOS 7 will have gamepad support and games can be very big. So there is another reason to increase the standard storage.
