iPhone 5s features speculation...

Definite...
Same form factor as iPhone 5
A7 chip
Fingerprint scanner
12 Megapixel camera with dual flash
Wi-fi 802.11AC

Hoping For...
Much better speakers
Better battery life
128gb option

All in all the 5s will be awesome. Definitely a bigger step up from the 5 than the 4s was from the 4. And btw...as I was typing this I was thinking about the whole fingerprint scanner thing. Sure this would be great on the iPhone and iPad, but I would LOVE that kind of authentication technology on a MacBook too! Tired having to type in massive passwords. Would be great just to press my thumb to the touchpad... If this tech comes to fruition, I sure hope they make it standard across their devices.

Guess we'll see what it looks like. My contract will be up for renewal next April - looking forward to dumping Android for an iPhone or a Windows phone. Android is a good concept- but far too buggy for my taste.

time to start putting money aside to pay outright. I was told yesterday by att that I would have to wait another year before I could get on the "next" plan since I got my iphone 5 in sept. how long before the open it up to everyone to get people on this plan?

That's off contract.
So? You do realize that the customer will end up paying it, one way or the other? In the US, iPhones are cheaper than in Europe, but that's because the average monthly fee is about twice as high as in Europe.

My Predictions about peoples opinions after the event

Group 1
"OMG THE 5S IS REVOLUTIONARY! YES OMG! IM BUYING IT!"

"iPhone 5S IS SO GOOD MUCH BETTER THAN THE 5!"

Group 2

"Same thing as the 5S cept some internal stuff.."

"Meh..its good...but Im not buying it"

"iPhone 5S yawn..."

Group 3 (The Fandroids)

"OMG THE GALAXY ALREADY HAS THIS!"

"SAMSUNG IS SUPERIOR"

"iPhone 5S...more like iPhone 5Shit "

"iPhone 5C...more like iPhone 5Crap "

"iPhone sucks balls...I never had one..never will" (Yes they know the iPhone sucks without using an iPhone...brilliant )

Not making fun of anyone just....THIS is what is going to happen. No avoiding it.

4S vs. 4 is a WAY bigger difference than 5S will be compared to 5.

A6 = fast.
A4 = slow, even back then it was.

I wouldn't say that the FS is definite. While we have seen code in iOS 7, we haven't seen any physical evidence. I believe that in iOS 5 there was code for a panorama feature but that didn't show up until iOS 6 with the iPhone 5. Personally, I think that it's slightly more likely to happen than not since the 5S doesn't have any other special feature (that we suspect).

This move makes a lot of sense in the Chinese market. First, the mainland is still on 3G and high volumes of data are absurdly expensive. When I say high volumes, I mean anything over 1G per month. Second, many people are still using the iPhones on China mobile, and therefore don't even have 3G yet. Third, to the extent that people do have 3G service on their iPhones, it is because they are using one phone on China Mobile and another on China Unicom. All of this is due to a reluctance to give up a cherished old number tied to China Mobile (numbers can't be transferred between networks). In other words, there has been little reason for most people to move to the iPhone 5. Given the LTE is set to arrive only next year, what would you buy? A final point: the colour options also make a lot of sense in the Chinese market. The Apple aesthetic is not entirely portable to Chinese device culture. There are certainly who "get it," but many, many more who prefer colour, flourishes, and "mods." The 5C could be a very smart move for many reasons.
Well put.

The 4S had A5 processor.
I know, but 4S is 'toc', I'm comparing 'tic' phones.

3G - tic
3GS - toc
4 - tic
4S - toc
5 - tic
5S -toc

Will anyone but the hardcore Apple fans even care?

The world that I live in doesn't hold its breath waiting for day-late dollar-short announcements from Cupertino.

My bank account is ready! I just wish it would have been free the 15thso I could take advantage of an early upgrade. Maybe I can talk AT&T into pushing the upgrade date up :D

I sure hops this time that apple sells unlocked iPhones on opening day in Canadian apple stores, not like last time with the 5, had to wait 4 months. That was BS, almost got a android just for that move.
With the competition heating up I see why they wouldn't.

Other than the screen, I really do not care what my phone looks like from the outside. Give me a beautiful display (with nice camera) and make the rest of the outside cheap and rubberized!

Speaking of the camera, dual flash will be nice, but I'm guessing the flash(es) still won't equal that of my pocket camera's flash. I really can't imaging that it needs 12 megapixel, I'd rather drop it down to 6MP and work better in low light!

I didn't go for the iPhone 5 (it's the first time I didn't upgrade on a yearly basis) so I'm thinking the leap to the 5s is really going to be a nice big upgrade for me (2 speed bumps, processor upgrades and the larger screen)!!!

What about people who don't upgrade their phones every generation (you know, like most people?). If you're coming from a 4S, 4, an earlier iPhone, or you have never owned a smartphone, then the 5S is exciting.

Unless, of course, you count the tens of millions that will buy this iPhone ”hardcore fans."
