So Catalyst apps become obsolete long term.
Welcome back to the world of mess: catalyst apps, fat binaries, new and old architecture apps....

Here we go again....
long live uwp... failure in making. even sq1 fail to impresss

Hows it going to be an enlarged iPad? The developer kit just has an iPad chip. The actual Macs will haveMac specific chips
Because there are so many users on these forums that just don’t grasp the fact that computers can be built using CPUs other than Intel and AMD, and they’re freaking out bad. They missed having a PowerPC Mac and seem to foRget Apple built computers all by their lonesome before they ever embraced Intel. Jeez, some of these reactions suggest that aliens have arrived on the planet.

Full circle for me, it’ll be great to have ARM back in my desktop.

This is huge. Apple have the resources to really push the ARM architecture as far as it’ll go. I expect we’re going to see some real beasts.

If you’ve been hearing all the hype about the PS5, and how Sony built a custom IO and decompressor hardware to load between 9-22Gb/s of data entirely without touching the CPU - that is the kind of engineering that is now possible on the Mac.

They have left the PC architecture behind and embraced this new world of heterogenous processors with lots of specialised units for accelerating certain tasks (like Machine Learning). Now Apple finally have a platform that demands high performance, running on their custom chips - were going to see all kinds of crazy performance that regular PCs won’t be able to match.

Looking good!

No more Bootcamp/ Windows, though? Only virtualization?

Hehe, it was exactly my first question... My bet is, though, Windows 10 for ARM will become compatible one day. If not Apple, if not Microsoft, then the community will make it happen (I know what I'm talking about, as for years I've been among the people working on better drivers and improvements for Boot Camp, such as Trackpad++ drivers, etc.). In fact, 'The Boot Campers' community is tens of millions of people worldwide. Huge one, actually.

Everybody who's crying about "oh my new intel mac is worthless now" CLEARLY did NOT watch the keynote, cause Tim Apple said: "We are going to support Intel Macs for YEARS TO COME and even going to release new Intel Macs this year, before releasing our first hardware with Apple Silicon later this year"

So STOP posting FAKE NEWS and start posting FACTS. I'm sick and tired of these whining "Apple is doomed" people here: The iPod was stupid, the iPhone was flawed, nobody would want an iPad and yet Apple is worth >1 TRILLION dollars and continues to kicks every competitors A** with their products.

So please STOP with your negativity.
