Because then it's nothing more than an iPhone accessory.

In theory, why is this a bad thing? Why does the Apple TV need to be more than a receiver for Airplay? Why not have the device be the same device you have on your person at all times anyway? I'm not saying the current setup is perfect, but maybe a ton of "smarts" in the device that plugs into the larger screen is... Pointless?

Normally he would be a match for the Ninjas. Samsung knew this. Acting on a tip from an informant, they purchased every single Hot Pocket in the tri-state area; making Renzatic as normal as you and me.

No one knows who the informant is.

On a totally unrelated note: Did samcraig show you his new Galaxy S5, Note Pro, Gear 2, courtside seats at Miami Heat games, and his bobble head of Dr. Oh-Hyun Kwon?

Sam and Renzatic get all the good stuff. Sam actually has a prototype of the Galaxy S5 S. Samsung is considering copying Apple's naming method for their in between model redesigns by adding the S designation. Top secret info has it that Samsung will also be making machined aluminum versions of the Galaxy S5 and Note 3. These will be designated with a C, ie, Galaxy S5 C and Note 3 C. Samsung is copying Apple by using aluminum, but hopes to avoid litigation by placing the C designation on the metal phone instead of the plastic one like Apple does.

Not all people who might like to buy an Apple TV have an iPhone. They would be eliminating about 50% of the market right off the bat.

Apple takes it's sweet ass time .... Because they can . They haven't released anything this year and when they do people will still buy in droves .

What? They take a long time to create their products and when they do finally sell them, they are great and everyone buys them and loves them?

Is that what you just said?

And since Steve jobs went (to)hell, apple hasn't innovated a damn thing

And since Steve jobs went, hell, apple hasn't innovated a damn thing

Which?

I would love to know the percentage. I am pretty sure you just pulled that 'about 50%' out of the 'air'

I like how you did that.

It's an email that was produced in its entirety through discovery in the Apple/Samsung litigation. There are clearly relevant comments in this email that pertain to the litigation, so it had to be produced.

Exactly. People don't understand the litigation process generally.

Are you trolling? If Samsung's lawyers request any and all emails from leadership pertaining to iPhone development in relation to Android, Apple's lawyers MUST produce this email or face legal sanctions if it were to turn up later. Neither Apple nor their lawyers want to risk sanctions, fees, and disbarment over a four year old email.

That's called sarcasm, not trolling.

Magic wand fun

Wasn't there a leak/rumour about the magic wand last year?

Motion sensing, plus AppleID/TouchID would mean system could control UI stuff and gameplay etc but also, crucially, auto setup TV settings/menu for each individual, i.e. favourite channels, games, apps etc.

Apple has been holding back until content deals in place I guess, although Amazon has just tried to move in this direction but poorly implemented by all accounts.

2010: "where do we go from here?"

2014: nowhere

Pure curiosity, but are you being cynical for the sake of being so or do you actually know something that we don't? What do you mean by "nowhere"?

I took some time to read all the emails posted on the web. it was very exciting to see how Steve jobs managed all those VPS. You can see Apple has a vision and their next product is half ready when they announce a new one.

We didn't see any mention on wearables but we might see them later in this case.

Or maybe it was given to the lawyers during discovery…..

Oh you mean those 'fishing expeditions' called 'discovery', where both sides will ask for anything and everything they can get their hands on, that could --even remotely-- be used to bolster their case. That explains.

I had not considered that, because at first, I didn't realize the document in question pertains to a lot more than the AppleTv, so I thought initially that it was strange such an 'unrelated' document would have been demanded by the defendants, much less volunteered by Apple. I hope that makes sense.

That statement is lacking in any kind of basis. What I do wonder is how it ended up accessible when it's marked highly confidential.

I had my, admittedly flawed, reasons. See above.

But the assumption is that you will already have an iPhone if you go to buy an Apple TV.

I know, however I think is wrong to assume everyone with Apple TV have an iPhone (even though most of us probably have). I could simply have just my Mac computer and Apple TV.

Oh that makes more sense now. I clicked on the link and read through the thing. It's still obviously problematic that things marked highly confidential make their way into the wild.

In that case make any Apple product a remote. Yes I understand your point but the vast majority would have an iPhone if they would buy an Apple TV.

Tim Cook's Apple: there's always something on the horizon, and it will stay there.

Do you honestly think Jobs left a 4-year product pipeline when he passed? So everything from TouchID, the cylindrical Mac Pro to upcoming use of sapphire glass on the iPhone 6 is all Jobs huh?

Re the Magic Wand. Don't forget that Apple bought the company behind the original Kinect in 2013 for $360 million...

Apple has confirmed its acquisition of PrimeSense, the Israeli startup behind the 3D sensor in Microsoft's Kinect camera peripheral for the Xbox 360. An Apple spokesperson gave All Things D the following prepared statement, which it typically uses in such situations: "Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans."

The final purchase price was around $360 million, according to All Things D's sources. Globes, which first reported news of the completed acquisition on Sunday, put the price at between $300 and $350 million. Rumors of the buyout circulated in July in Israeli newspaper Calcalist, then again earlier this month.

I think they can/will motion gesturing without any hardware.

The late 2013 purchase also makes me wonder if this will be ready for the new Apple TV or if there will be two versions: A simple update to Apple Tv and another one supporting motion control, games.

However with Amazon Fire at just $99 Apple can't raise prices too much.

Two Steve Jobs articles in 2 days? The man has been dead for almost 3 years. Let's stop living in the past because technology changes so fast we can't use a dead man's cheat notes and quotes. A new game changing product could be released next week. I doubt Steve could help. Apple hasn't had a game changer since the iPad.
We should be worried about 2014 Apple. Not 2010 Apple.
