I ordered mine on the Apple Store app and did not pay extra for fast shipping, and it's still going to be delivered today. Glad I didn't waste $17 on nothing.

Anyone who already has the ATV4, are all the apps available in the ATV3 available on this one, like Crunchyroll? All the apps that gets mentioned are Netflix/Hulu. It would be great if there was a list of them somewhere.

I ordered mine there too, did not pay for fast shipping, and it's still preparing for shipment. Stupid.

Mine arrived a few hours early

Now to check out some apps...

update:

+ setup was straight forward using iPhone
+ I like the new look interface
+ very snappy compared with the aTV3 it's sat on top of
+ universal remote with old remote settings work
+ search for SimpleX and you'll find a 3rd party app that seems to work ok for a few quid (worth a try)

- entering text is painful and installing 6-7 apps needed to enter a few too many times
- lack of support in iOS Remote app needs fixing quickly
- very limited selection of apps and no native Plex app yet, but accept it is day 1
- no optical out which we all knew about but I still think is a glaring omission from Apple

Happy I got one today to play with but both 3 (running Plex through PlexConnect) and 4 will be running for the time being through different AV channels on my TV. I actually unplugged the Blu-Ray player power and HDMI and I wonder if my girlfriend will even notice the additional black box stacked on top of the old one

I have owned all the Apple TV devices since the original and I can't wait for this device to be delivered.

I have 260+ movies in my Apple TV library to date and fairly many TV shows including full seasons of The Office and Parks & Recreation.

If I have complaints about anything, it is how long Apple has taken to get a new version of the Apple TV. This certainly will not be the last Apple TV and it is still very early. Updates have always been frequent on the Apple TV.

What I would like to see this become, is an entertainment, information device, and home kit hub. All of these things are still so early, but the opportunity is there to bring it all together.

Things I would like to see eventually (keep in mind I haven't received mine yet) -

1. Twitter App
2. Facebook App
3. Home Kit integration
4. Streaming options (Netflix, Hulu, even an Apple Streaming service)
5. Seinfeld streaming service (yes I watch it that much).
6. Music Visualizer - the worlds best digital jukebox on your TV.
7. Information queries - this ranges from todays news to your calendar appointments and also read me my email please!
8. Facetime - with Apple Camera add on.
9. Video Sharing features - the ability to share what you are watching with friends so they can also watch it real time and make comments.

I am sure I can think of many more but hopefully this is the beginning. ;)

Please no ... Facebook on the TV no!!! We need a world with less Facebook not more!

Then don't use it yourself. What do you care that some anonymous person from a discussion board has a Facebook app on his Apple TV and uses it?
"What do you care that some anonymous person from a discussion board" has a different opinion from yours ? ;)

We are here to discuss opinions, so don't be surprised if someone challenges what you post. I asked a legitimate question. Do you have an answer?
Yes I do have an answer (I think I was clear on my the post you commented first, the WORLD needs less Facebook not more!), just pointing out that you are telling me i should not care about what otherd do , but you are allowed to care o about what I do, funny ;)

Edit : Now I understand your signature.

I think devices such as this are great and we need developers to start developing for TV.

I think there are lots of ideas and business opportunities which can come out of it.

Right now in its early stages, a strong developer community is what it needs.

I was looking forward to this, but it's double the price of the previous version and Siri doesn't even work! It looks dead in the water and I'm surprised that Apple, normally so polished, would launch it with key functionality broken.

Apparently you're not running El Capitan because it was less ready than anything else I've seen from Apple since 1984.

Mine has arrived and sorry to say all a bit dull. Controller is really fiddly to use and touch pad responds poorly. Content wise apart from games I can't see any real difference from an Amazon fire stick or Now TV. Seems to have the same apps and media content as all the other devices. If it is powerful enough and someone comes up exciting content then great but so far nothing that justifies its price compared to other devices out there. Really disappointed. Its like apple feel they have to have a TV product but don't really know what to do with it. I would have thought they would at least have designed some killer Apple apps to really show off it potential.

Anyone else order one within a couple hours of it going live, only to see that they still haven't shipped it?

Yep. Mine still "preparing for shipment". I guess I had hoped that a first or second hour order would arrive before it showed up at Best Buy, but I guess it's no big deal. I've lived without it up to now, a couple of days won't hurt.

Mine has arrived and I've spent an hour or so playing with it. So far it is 'okay' but nothing special..

OK. So you caught a break. I'm glad you feel so great. You obviously didn't care if it came next week. I paid the $17 dollars to get mine today. That's fine. I don't really care if I could have saved a few dollars in retrospect. I could easily afford it. That's why I did it and also to guarantee that I would get it on Friday.

You know, that retrospectoscope is a fabulous thing. I so glad you have full command of it. Sheesh.

You need download the New build and restore with iTunes. It won't work OTA

I hope this isn't true... the other builds DID download OTA.
I currently don't have a USB-C cable, it's shipping in like 25 days through Amazon. Couldn't find any in stores, and my dev kit came in the second wave. Apple didn't bother including a cable for us.

That's pretty much what people said of the first iPhone - "Where are the apps?". Where there are millions of users, there will be developers. Particularly for Apple who's customers seem to be willing to (gasp) *pay* for apps.

Everyone, just wait until my game Trolls vs Leprechauns comes on Apple TV, now THAT'll be a quality app :D
