I see, thanks for the correction. I guess Apple was the one that decided to block Amazon first, then Amazon turned around and stopped Apple TV sale.

To be fair, one needs to see the reason behind. Apple reject Amazon because it didn't follow the guidelines as they always do to all other Apps. Amazon stopped selling Apple TV out of petty, just because it directly compete with their Fire.

Anyone know if apps bought for iPhone and iPad will just be downloadable here (if offered) or will we have to pay all over again? I saw that Alto's Adventure is going to have an app on here. Wondering if I'll have to pay for it all over again.

That's likely up to the developers. Hopefully most of them won't be *******s and make separate apps for the Apple TV

That remote is too sleek. What was the setup like?

Yes the remote is very sleek, I love it.

Setting up is actually taking up less than a minute, and all done through iPhone. First it asked you to turn on your iDevice bluetooth, place it near to the ATV box, then retrieve all the information you need to connect to your wifi. After that, you enter your AppleID password on your iDevice, and done.

I honestly would not mind paying again for games for the Apple TV. It's a whole other platform after all.

In the App Store under purchases it shows apps that you have purchased that are available to download for Apple TV.
Mine had 10 or so in there.
Early days with the App Store.
You need to install apps for the old 'channels' that would just show up. A lot look like they are not available just yet.
Eg Red Bull TV, Fox Sports, etc
Netflix, YouTube etc are there as expected.

Anyone else order one within a couple hours of it going live, only to see that they still haven't shipped it?

Mine arrived this morning, I'm very underwhelmed, hardly any decent apps and filling out anything on it is pretty much the worst user experience ever.

Can somebody search for "7 Minute TV Workout" and post if it's available? Thanks

Just called Apple Store in Manchester to check availability and they said call back in a couple of hours and we will be able to tell you when we can start selling them.

I just installed it and totally disagree with you. You only have to enter these details a few times when setting up and it works far better and faster than on the previous Apple TV. And your complaint about a lack of apps is absolutely ridiculous. The product is on its launch day for christ's sake. Still the major apps are there and a decent amount of launch titles.

I think it is great. The games are fun with the controller and work better than I anticipated. Siri doesn't work in The Netherlands, which sucks, but overall the interface is clean, easy and a joy to navigate with the new controller.

I have mine - delivered today.

I have had the Apple TV since it came out and I m sooooo impressed .

I love this thing!

I unpacked it and unplugged my old unit and just plugged in hdmi and old power cord which fits.

I have an optical cable from my tv to Hifi already for hd recorder and I was amazed that after set up the Apple TV was using this optical for the sound so my main concern about not having sound through my Hifi just dissapeared. How did it do this as I did nothing not even re select optical source???

Set up was so easy - prompts guide you to pair your iPhone and then it's so easy .

I love the interface so clean and it makes a nice sound in between selections.

Never been a fan of Siri before but it's incredible on Apple TV. I tried a few searches eg play films with Roger Moore play Star Wars and it works perfectly / amazing.

Apple Music now fully included which is great.

If you turn back to normal TV as soon as you press menu on the remote or speak into Siri it sets the source to Apple TV and away you go

Photos work well too and the screen saver videos are breathtaking I could go on and on and on .

Haven't began to explore apps.

But seriously great job Apple this is by far the best product you've released in years

Buy it you won't regret it and it will only get better.

Apple it shows you still care about great product design. Thank you

Wait, the ATV4 isn't supported by the iOS Remote app? Ok, that seals it, I am putting off the purchase. That, combined with a lack of Siri support in my region makes the thing ridiculously overpriced for what I need/want it to do. Might as well get a used ATV3 instead. My us main cases would've been (in no particular order):

* Using Apple Music while TV is off (DOA for 3 reasons: no Remote app support, no Siri support of Apple Music, no Siri on ATV available in my region in the first place)
* Netflix and Youtube (Again, no Siri on ATV available in my region, **** typing using an on-screen keyboard, might as well just attach my Macbook via HDMI and roll with that)
* Airplaying Audio wirelessly from my Macbook and Airplay Mirroring said Macbook to the TV

So basically, of the things ATV4 can do that I actually care about, ATV3 can do them just as well at 1/4 the price.

Just got mine delivered in Singapore today. Ordered the 64GB one.

Some impressions:
- Love the look and interface
- Ability to switch on/off the TV and control volume with the Apple TV remote is a joy
- Entering passwords is a pain without a Bluetooth keyboard
- Looking forward to Siri coming to Singapore's Apple TV one day (not supported here yet)

Monday: Ordered 64gb model, €229, opted for standard shipping, estimated delivery 4-6 Nov
Tuesday: Time passed
Yesterday: Order status changed to Preparing for Dispatch and Express Delivery, estimated 3-5 Nov. That's nice.
Today: Shipped! DHL Express estimates delivery as tomorrow (Fri 30th) by close of business. Currently in East Midlands Airport, UK. Should be on the early morning flight to Dublin. Great!

My first Apple TV. There goes my weekend! :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaand ... its here!
Just in time for my coffee break too.
Even the outer delivery box that the black Apple TV package came in is elegantly put together, its nuts.

I can sell you my ATV 3 if you want ;)

Switched my Dev unit over to the retail build last night.

There aren't a great deal of apps out yet and a lot of the ones I have on my ATV3 are missing so at the moment it's going to get limited use.

I do like it a lot though, the remote learning feature is cool and I now have my Apple remote controlling my soundbar volume which is really handy.

Tried out a few games which I already had in my purchased list, Canabalt is awesome as is Beach Buggy Racers with tilt controls but would definitely benefit from a proper controller, as would Oceanhorn which looks amazing.

I agree that the text entry process is painful but thankfully the AppStore has a never require option for purchases so once you have most apps setup you'll never really have to use it much again.

The remote setup option is by the coolest feature and saved a lot of text entry.

Very happy to have this replacing my ATV3 (which is relegated to the bedroom) but until NOW TV gets a release the PS4 will remain king.

Siri is overrated on this thing.
It is next to useless so far anyway.

In fact, I don't like the new remote much at all.
I have programmed my stereo remote in and I am using that, and the apple tv is much better now.

Text input on this new one is horrible. It takes forever, especially without the iOS remote support, and even longer than the old text input.

I got a Steel Series nimbus controller as well. I was mucking around with the Apple TV thinking it wasn't that good.
Then I turned on this controller. You can control the apple tv with it, and the game play is much better for the few games that I used with it. I highly recommend this controller over Apple's one (that I will most like put in a draw now never to be seen again. Yes Siri is that useless, can't even use it to input text)

I can confirm that Beach Buggy Racer is 10 times better with the Steelseries Nimbus controller.
It was almost un-drivable, like there is a lag in the tilt steering using the Apple remote.

Got mine this morning. Like the UI, but was gutted when I found out that the iphone Remote App is not supported. I missed that one on the pre release blurb. Anyone know if that is going to be remedied or not?

Got mine delivered right now, can't wait to get home and test it ;) I am sure the Remote App will see an update soon (no reason not to), and Siri will become more useful as time goes by, people need to be patient, it is like it is version 1 for the software, lots of room for improvement!

OK, so my 64GB AppleTV and Nimbus controller arrived today. I hooked it up to my 65" 4K display. Here's what I thought

First impressions:
- Once setup and apps downloaded it's amazing how quickly it fades into your nightly viewing.
- Navigation is really natural
- Picture quality is fantastic, even with 1080p on a 4K screen (tested using mostly Netflix)
- Amazing step up from using HDMI out from iMac in every way, very slick and frictionless experience
- Never mind stepping up from a ghetto Chromecast
- Alto is fantastic on a big screen
- Oceanhorn is AMAZING on a big screen, really brings the full Zelda: Wind Waker experience alive
- Screensavers are gorgeous

The so so:
- Apps like Airbnb and TripAdvisor look gorgeous, although their usefulness beyond that is questionable.
- No sync with phone for apps
- No download all for purchased apps
- Siri is limited beyond the functions demoed (will be fixed soon)
- Plex is still in review (hopefully out soon)

The bad:
- Phone setup didn't work at all. Just never registered or did anything. Turned BT off and on, turned WiFi off. Nothing. (iOS 9.1)
- Entering passwords really is a pain, just awful
- Early days with apps clearly: Never found out how to multiplayer in Crossy Road. Nimbus mapping for Alto wing suit also dropped me back into menu
- My TV introduces a very slight, but noticable lag from upscaling 1080p.
- Haven't really needed to try out Siri yet (kudos to easy navigation I guess?)

I fully expect the latter to work itself out. All in all this is the best experience I've had with my new (and first ever) TV. Even training the remote to set my TVs volume felt like magic. Anyone tried any third party upscalers that reduce lag? There's practically zero lag if the TV gets a native 4K signal from my iMac.

BOTTOM LINE: It's still very early days, but yes, I can very much see this being the serious base platform for the future of TV. The UI is a delight and it smoothes out so much friction that everything else I've had to deal with on a TV previously that we just instantly started USING it instead of TESTING it. Watched a full movie length documentary, four TV show episodes off Netflix. And spiced it up with gaming inbetween. Thoroughly enjoyable and with a lack of frustration that usually comes with anything having to deal with TV and devices. And that's a solid B+ in my book.
