Honestly, FireTV isn't that bad and relatively speaking, Apple TV is not that much of a break through. I seriously doubt that Amazon will release their App on the Apple TV, they've just recently refuse to sell Apple TV on Amazon, so I don't think they are about to make an App for the Apple TV. They are basically doing whatever to stop people form buying the Apple TV.

Actually it's the other way around. Amazon stopped selling Apple TV and because Apple wouldn't put Amazon Prime on the Apple TV roster. With the tvos app store, this might change. I would be surprised if Apple didn't approve an app from Amazon Prime and SlingPlayer just to be petty.

I'm curious how you know this, was it in an article somewhere? I've read a few reports about it myself, and the authors have always speculated it could be one way or the other, or speculated it is something else entirely like retail posturing. But you state it as fact that Apple refused to put Amazon Prime on Apple TV.

App is currently in review after having been rejected twice (for technical reasons, not because it is Plex).
I'm actually pleased to hear this. My biggest concern is a buggy Plex release and an endless stream of buggy updates. Apple is going to be a lot more rigorous with acceptance of Plex bugs than the typical Plex user.

How are you trying to use Siri?

I have not upgraded to the new Apple TV because it seems that Siri only works in 8 countries worldwide (it doesn't work here in NZ, even though it works in neighboring Australia).

Now if Apple were saying something like "We're working hard on it, and Siri will be available in 6 months" then that would be acceptable, and that has always been the standard that Apple aspires to where things 'just work'. However I see no evidence that Apple is even trying to remedy the situation here, and I don't feel like paying the full price for partial functionality.

Im in Aus, and The Apple Store in Sydney and suburbs (chatswood, hornsby, castle hill) still don't have them on the floor. (they reckon they will be put on the shelfs around 2-3pm...) anyone else in Sydney got their hands on one yet?

Don't have the App Store yet in Canada, and the last build is not available OTA yet.

It was in a memo sent to venders that the devices were being removed due to not interact well with prime. It was also reported by Bloomberg.

I needed a new TV as my old one broke so I couldn't wait any longer. I went with the Samsung js9500 and it's great. Perfect? No. Awesome? Yes!

I absolutely love Samsung TV's. I had the option to get a 4K set, but I decided to get a Samsung Plasma 64F8500. Beautiful 1080p reference TV. Won multiple TV shootouts. Even though the JS9500 is a decent set, the LCD still requires you to sit directly in the middle in order to achieve the "sweet spot". Off to the sides and you lose color uniformity and overall brightness. FALD can't correct that. Not faulting you for purchasing that set. The options in the TV world right now are limited.

Just received my 32GB ATV4 at work here in Christchurch, New Zealand. Looking forward to trying it out when I get home and it will be interesting on the Siri front as I have a USA iTunes account and DNS Geo-Unblocking so would expect that Siri will work with my US Netflix, Hulu etc. accounts - the remote is physically the same so in my view it will just be a software restriction based on location.

I pre-ordered within an hour of it opening. Mine is still showing Preparing for Shipment.

64GB
Canada

Side note: Anyone see if Plex is in the App Store yet?
Same here.. I swear there was no place to pop for one day shipping in Canada

Customers who pre-ordered the Apple TV and opted for one-day shipping have begun receiving their devices in New Zealand, where it is just after 9:00 a.m. local time. Deliveries will begin soon in Australia and countries in Asia, before expanding to Europe and the United States.

Those who pre-ordered their Apple TVs on Monday can expect to begin receiving them at the end of this week and the beginning of next week, as not choosing one-day shipping largely offered delivery estimates of November 2 to November 4.

Apple's retail stores will also begin selling the Apple TV on Friday, October 30. The first customers in Australia should be able to pick up an Apple TV in the next few hours.

As customers begin receiving their Apple TVs, Apple has officially launched the tvOS operating system for the device to allow those with developer and review units to update to the publicly released version. Following the update to the official tvOS software, users are able to access the App Store and search function to locate and install apps on the device.

The Apple TV is available for purchase from the Apple online store. It's priced at $149 for 32GB storage and $199 for 64GB storage.

(Thanks, Scott!)

I wish one day shipping was available in Canada... Ordered mine on Monday at like 10am and said standard shipping nov 2-4 no one day shipping posted... Still prepping for shipping, never pre ordering again

Mine will be here in about 6 hours. I only bought it to have a little play with the controller. The Plex app is going to have to go some for this to replace my Mac mini running the new Plex Media Player - still the Apple TV will probably end up in a secondary room.

If it hasn't shipped, can you still cancel the order and just walk in and buy one?

Mine is out for delivery in Singapore. I'm hoping / betting on Siri capabilities based on US iTunes account and Unotelly DNS services (works with streaming services, so cautiously optimistic).

This is extremely accurate to the point where it upsets me.

Plex is compatible on many devices + has a web interface too. Plus it makes everything look beautiful because it will pull meta data/cover art/movie descriptions and so on from several databases to turn a simple movie file into something with high res cover art along with information about the movie such as synopsis and so on. It's pretty much a "Netflixify your content!" app.

Oh and Plex lets you stream from outside your home too so it really is Netflix for content you already own (or pirated).

Ah I see, it adds the metadata etc and allow you to stream from anywhere, not bad.

I see, thanks for the correction. I guess Apple was the one that decided to block Amazon first, then Amazon turned around and stopped Apple TV sale.

I thought the remote was different if you were in a none Siri enabled country.

Ie no Siri button / microphone.

New Zealand first again!

Great to see and my TV is due to be delivered within the hour.

America is always last in the world as they are the last major country to see the day but I wouldn't expect any American to understand this.
