Just in case anyone cares. I checked the serial number and my Apple TV was built on week 43. Which makes it 3 weeks old so I don't understand why they are taking so long to ship out. They're not all coming straight from China. They've been sitting in warehouses for a bit.
This is what gets me. Between the 'no way to order two at the same time' and all of them are in the same place (Harrisburg, PA, down here) what are they *doing*, lol.

Half (I exaggerate) of the issues would be gone if they allowed for multiple orders at a time and shipped 'preorders' (whatever) before store lots.

still 'order processed ready for ups' even though my shipping email says delivers Nov 3rd. If its not in my possession by tomorrow I'll be expecting some sort of goodwill credit from apple.

Can't we pair bluetooth keyboards to the Apple TV? wonder if my old apple bluetooth keyboard that came /w my iMac will work.

According to multiple reviews, the 4th generation model currently will not pair with any Bluetooth keyboard, including Apple's.

My unit is in theory to be delivered today, but last update was from Saturday when it was in Ontario, CA. UPS truck just stopped at my place, but no delivery for me. So either on another truck or most likely an exception (to the early delivery) will happen and it comes tomorrow as originally planned.

To summarize and clarify: :D
There is no data entry method at this time besides the remote and Siri. (And you can't enter logins and passwords with her, I have to add.)

There are reports (and we need clarification) that the Remote app will *not* be updated for ATV4.

Obviously, all of this has produced a lot of 'reaction' since Friday. But that's the best summary I can give after four days of this.

Bit off topic but can anyone confirm that the power cord from the Apple 3 will work with the new apple TV?
I can confirm its relatively the same. Just black instead of grayish.

Also I read before someone posted that the Harmony remote didn't work. Mine does. I didn't have to change a thing either. Someone else said the volume control dos not work, it does for me.

Apple refunded my overnight shipping (least they could do). Mine is out for delivery now. Will probably just pick one up in the store next time.

So, the newest shipping idiocy is that my second unit (I know, wah) doesn't even have a FedEx label for tomorrow's delivery. Well, without that I can't generate the release form to print and sign to put on the door tomorrow AM (that I shouldn't have to because Apple said no signature lol). Can this get any more screwed up?

And by the way, FedEx is supposed to follow those requests (no sig needed) up to $500, I believe, so WTF.

Yes. Source: I left the power cord for my aTV3 where it was and plugged my ATV 4 straight into it Friday afternoon, and have been using it since. Also, took the aTV3 into the master bedroom with the aTV 4 power cord and they work together as well.

I used the Nimbus controller to enter passwords. It's slightly less painful.

Where are these reports of Apple intending to NOT update the Remote App? I haven't seen anything like that online anywhere...

Slightly OT but related to the ATV order fiasco....

I emailed Tim Cook Saturday half-expecting nothing back, half-expecting a form-letter reply.

Nope.

Today, Apple tracked me down and called me. They had to have used my @me email to figure me out because my contact info was not in the email. Yes; having my AppleID info means they know all about me. I know it was not magic.

A very nice lady called me about my email to Tim. She wanted me to elaborate on the disappointment I had with how my ATV order was being handled.

I stepped her through how I perceived the situation beginning with last Monday placing my order, Wednesday finding out it would be available in stores, and up until now waiting for it to ship. I expressed disappointment how my order went PFS so quickly after ordering and sat this way 6 days preventing an easy cancelation.

I was courteous in my email. I did not play the "I buy a lot from Apple and you owe me" card. I knew that would not go well. I was just stating facts and why I was disappointed.

She seemed genuinely interested in my feedback. She stated Tim does read his email and her team received it from him and was asked to follow up.

I still don't have my ATV but do feel better about Apple so there is that...

BTW, it switched from PFS to shipped early this morning but, as of this writing, FedEx has not heard of my tracking number and it sits somewhere in Harrisburg, PA still. :(

Glad to hear there's something else that helps a bit. How is that easier? Because you can move more 'mechanically' than the normal remote?
I find the swipe to be too imprecise when selecting letters from the password entry screen (aside: they actually made text input worse than it was before, and then took away the Remote app!). The analog sticks are not any better, but the D-pad is precise enough, and will repeat when held down.

The shipping label says AR c/o Syncreon, from Vaughan, Ontario (just north of Toronto). I don't know a great deal about logistics, but I think that this Syncreon is a fulfillment company, that took bulk orders from manufacturing (likely China) and then prepared the shipments for delivery to Canada. If I were apple, I might "soft launch" a less-desired product with a new fulfillment vendor in advance of trying to deliver mass quantities of a more popular product, say iPad Pro or something. Anyone has dealings with this Syncreon previously?

I think it's time Apple builds their own warehouse in Canada and ship their products themselves. No more of this fulfillment nonsense. That is if they are using a fulfillment company in Canada.

The AppleTV I ordered last Monday morning is slated to finally deliver tomorrow afternoon. Not that it matters that much. I bought one in store on Friday so it's going to be going straight back to Apple. They consider the AppleTV a hobby and they sure shipped it out like it was one.

Only thing I don't like about the new AppleTV is the no day one support for the iPhone app. Typing in passwords with the siri remote is awful. Hopefully this gets remedied soon, but I doubt it.
