photos app is good but only shows my recent albums and not all of them for some reason

Yeah, it's a bit annoying, not how I expected it to work. But see my post above for a workaround for now.

At the moment the photos app only seems to work with iCloud shared libraries. However, you can use HomeShare on your MacBook in iTunes to share your entire collection from the Photos app on OS X and access it via the Computers app on the Apple TV.

I will be praying for a update that permit access directly from photos app. The auto-slideshow is great to view our albums with friends and family. But it's annoying to connect MacBook everytime!

I definitely agree with that. I had hoped that the Photos app on the Apple TV would work just as it does on iOS and OS X. I'm shocked that it doesn't as its now the only Apple device I have that doesn't automatically keep all of my photos in sync. Annoying.

Well, it's official. I'm not buying Apple TV anytime soon! hdmi cable will still part of the family for now... lol
