32Gb preparing for dispatch finally. At least I haven't got to worry that there was a problem with my order having put my old phone number on.

Woohoo, my order just went to Dispatched.
Order was placed at 3pm on Monday, if that helps anyone? UKMail is the courier.

As someone else said earlier in this thread, after all these years of new product releases, you'd think we'd not get so excited and worked up anymore wouldn't you? :)

I also received a dispatched email around half 11 this morning confirming delivery tomorrow. I can't wait!

Mine still not dispatched and I ordered at 12:50 PM on Monday. Getting worried..

First time pre-orderer here - what is the difference between 'preparing for dispatch' and 'preparing for shipment'?

Is it common for Apple to send items out of order like this, in that people above seem to be waiting for shipment despite ordering before others who have had theirs despatched? Seems an odd way to do things, unless other aspects are taken into account, such as geography etc.

dispatch is a British term, shipment is a North American term. Kind of like saying half five versus 5:30

I've never understood that when goods travel by road, it's called shipping.
And when they travel by sea or air, it's called cargo.

?!

I'm sure they do take geography into account, and send orders out in batches to regional sorting hubs, probably starting with the most distant. After following many iPhone/iPad/iMac/MacBook pre-orders (and the Apple Watch pre-order) on MacRumors, I don't think anyone has figured out their 'system' (assuming there is one).

As discussed earlier in this thread, Apple UK use Syncreon for their logistics, and their main distribution centre is at Hinckley in Leicestershire. This is less than an hour's drive from me, so although my 32GB ATV when to PFD at about 10:45, it probably won't dispatch until later this evening.

popped into a curry superstore this afternoon. they have an apple section with the watch and all the other guff. asked the guy next to the apple TV section when they would have the ATV4 and he said sometime before christmas and it starts at £99. he was wearing an apple t-shirt so bit surprised he wasn't a bit more clued up.
they got some nice gear in curry these days, even had a little fiddle with my wallet when I saw a DJI phantom 3 sitting there looking lonely.

I'd say you've got until about 2AM for your order to show as dispatched to stand a chance of getting it tomorrow. I'd say PFD status means they've booked the deliveries with the onward carrier and are awaiting a truck to overnight the goods to local depots, ready for the multi-drop drivers to load up at 6/7/8AM and head out to customers.

Ahhhhhhhh I can't take this.
I'm still on "Preparing for dispatch". Ordered with in the first 30 minutes of preorders.
Delivery still says 30th Oct - 3rd November.

Same. Ordered within first 10 mins. Hopefully change soon. Still confident of delivery tomorrow. Hate this waiting!

Mine has changed to Dispatched! Happened sometime between 14:00hrs and 17:00hrs. Order was placed at around 17:00hrs Monday

Love this apathy. Most folk in this thread could tell you to the nearest minute when their status was updated! :)

I know, that's the best I could do though, as there was a period that I couldn't check. I just checked the tracking information and as at 16:05 it was in Leicester being delivered by DPD.
