I just checked my front porch - mine didn’t arrive yet…. :(
Sorry but it made me laugh so hard😂 yeah ONE lucky person out of thousands, may be millions..it’s like hitting mini-lottery. That’s o.k if you already ordered it will come, eventually.

Please tell me that’s not a back button 🤦🏽‍♂️
I *think* it will act just like the old Menu button - ie a hierarchical up button, rather than a back-to-whatever-you-were-on-last button, which I’ve always thought was pretty pointless.

I'm still bummed about it not getting a better performance boost. In some ways it's a step backward. It does have a marginally better CPU, but the A10X has a 30% higher metal score than the A12. I'm sure it's a fine device, but there isn't really any compelling reason to upgrade if you have a Apple TV 4K already, since the remote can be had separately.

I guess we hurry up and wait for the bigger update.
For the most part, agreed. But I think the new remote is compelling. I have/had the 4KTV and bought just the new remote. Then someone gave me the bright idea to sell the whole unit. For about $10 more, I’m getting the new Apple TV4K and the new remote as opposed to just having bought the remote.

I wasn’t even thinking of upgrading, all I wanted was the new remote. But when you can sell it for a descent amount, it makes sense to me.

The previous "menu" button in practice worked/works like a back button, so I think it's clearer thisaways.

Looking forward to this new remote. I still regularly grab the old remote upside down and have to look at it know which way it is. <-- Saying this out load makes me realise how small my big problems are.

I have to look at a remote. Wow.

Cancelled my order in Australia because it was expected June 2-6, hopefully, I can walk into an Apple Store tomorrow and just buy one.

I disagree. I think it’s clean, has hierarchy, good for no-look, and solves every issue the previous remote had except for no way to change inputs.
Correct. I hated the previous remote. I will get one of the new ones for my birthday from our daughter and I honestly can't wait. The remote was ok as far as buttons but every time I picked it up it was always the wrong end then I have gone all the way back to a show that I would have to FF back to where I was at originally. No biggie and no loss of time, just an annoyance on my part.

it is funny, this. One lucky person gets the new iPad. Then a new lucky person gets their new iMac. Now another lucky person has got their new AppleTV 4K. I am humbly asking Tim Cook & Co. to be the lucky person that gets the new MacBook Pro 16" with what ever new M series chip they have in it.

I am really thinking about buying a new remote for my 4K, but $60 is a little high for this type of remote.

I definitely wanted a redesign but was hoping for more of an actual overhaul inspired by something like a Magic Mouse; filling the hand with a much more ergonomic shape and with a much larger touchpad. Instead they chose even harder edges, same tiny size, and a smaller touch area. So of course I don’t like it. It also looks like a knockoff of the $19 Apple TV remote, completely missing their usual visual refinement.

I’ve never thought of the Magic Mouse as ergonomic. 😬

I’m tempted to get one. The Siri remote for my AppleTV 4K just died. I plug it in, get no charge notification notice and no amount of time on a known working charger seems to do anything. Might as well upgrade for an improved remote and move the existing 4K to the master bedroom. My wife and I can use our phones as a remote. Anybody know if the new remote can be purchased individually and connected to the older 4K model? I thought I read that you can but I don’t know for sure. If anybody has any idea about what I might try to get the existing remote to work again let me know. Is it possible to replace the battery or once it’s done (if that’s the problem) or do you have to buy a new one? At the end of the day even though the iPhone works fine to control it I’d like to have a remote too if possible. #OldFashioned
