I only wish that these tv/stb combo remotes would include a programmable button to change the TV source.
I’m tempted to get one. The Siri remote for my AppleTV 4K just died. I plug it in, get no charge notification notice and no amount of time on a known working charger seems to do anything. Might as well upgrade for an improved remote and move the existing 4K to the master bedroom. My wife and I can use our phones as a remote. Anybody know if the new remote can be purchased individually and connected to the older 4K model? I thought I read that you can but I don’t know for sure. If anybody has any idea about what I might try to get the existing remote to work again let me know. Is it possible to replace the battery or once it’s done (if that’s the problem) or do you have to buy a new one? At the end of the day even though the iPhone works fine to control it I’d like to have a remote too if possible. #OldFashioned
Gotta disagree on that one.I swear that is still the ugliest remote I've ever seen for an entertainment device.
The upcoming pro version will be attractivei am guessing they went with easy usage over a nice design this time around
Why lucky? If he didn't win it he payed for it
it is funny, this. One lucky person gets the new iPad. Then a new lucky person gets their new iMac. Now another lucky person has got their new AppleTV 4K. I am humbly asking Tim Cook & Co. to be the lucky person that gets the new MacBook Pro 16" with what ever new M series chip they have in it.
Considering the long wait, and rumors about how it would compete with consoles, this was a disappointing upgrade for sure. Not to mention, they stripped the accelerometer from the remote and didn't include the U1 chip, yet kept the high price. I will be ordering the remote since I recently lost mine.I'm still bummed about it not getting a better performance boost. In some ways it's a step backward. It does have a marginally better CPU, but the A10X has a 30% higher metal score than the A12. I'm sure it's a fine device, but there isn't really any compelling reason to upgrade if you have a Apple TV 4K already, since the remote can be had separately.
I guess we hurry up and wait for the bigger update.
Or just say “hey Siri launch youtube”I would like to see Apple add some APIs to be able to jump to specific Apps or even context in apps
Right now for example you have to:
Wake up the remote
Turn on the TV
Launch YouTube TV
Click to the Library
and similar for other apps.
Maybe they could make a long press on the TV button bring up a menu of apps/now playing lists for example.
and you shouldn't try to.You can’t please everyone every time
I bought one of these. Clunky, but functional.I disagree. I think it’s clean, has hierarchy, good for no-look, and solves every issue the previous remote had except for no way to change inputs.
I think I have the one on the right - it feels as bad as it looks
No, it absolutely doesn’t, it works like an Up button (in the menu-hierarchy sense, the opposite of drilling-down (there has to be a better name for this function but I don’t know what - maybe “out”?)).The previous "menu" button in practice worked/works like a back button
Which is exactly what was needed. It may not win any design awards but I don't even think it's that ugly TBH.i am guessing they went with easy usage over a nice design this time around
It’s pretty weird - not much Apple flair on this one!I swear that is still the ugliest remote I've ever seen for an entertainment device.
So you haven’t seen many and don’t know mich about tech „I swear“.I swear that is still the ugliest remote I've ever seen for an entertainment device.
