Storage is NEED badly on the Apple TV. Every time I try to watch a movie on a Friday night, I takes hours to buffer.

All I want is a native Plex App running on the AppleTV. I'm not bothered about switching lights on with my iPhone, but I am looking forward to AppleTV Apps! This will change everything.
Came here to say this. If the AppleTV has an app store that includes Plex, I will finally buy one.

I'm hearing Tim say something like, "The AppleTV is a hobby no more!"

I've been waiting for this for several years. Was hoping we'd have seen this when iOS 6 was announced. I've worked on a networked product before, and integrating home automation definitely makes sense. The rumors for this coming WWDC have been fairly sparse this year, but the improvements with Apple TV sound like the biggest news we might see. Definitely looking forward to an Apple TV app store, and hopefully this will make significant strides to convince my family to get rid of cable.

With all these added features and extra memory, I hope Apple can keep it priced at $99 or less. You know how Apple is with memory.

This was always a pain when i used the ATV. I'd rather the accounts be tied to the service providers like on Roku. Apple needs to remember that a house can have at least 5 Apple IDs present on a day to day basis, each with their own content and credit cards.

I believe that is where family sharing comes in

Thing is tho. I shouldn’t even need AppleTV for this. Homekit should also have an interface that is found in System Preferences.

System preferences on what, someone's only Mac which is a laptop and which isn't in the home all the time? Nope. The Apple TV does stay in the home, does have WiFi, doesn't consume a lot of power, and has what minimal computing power is required to control HomeKit devices.

I would say that the reason they say it will work with 3rd Gen or later is because the "new" set top box will come with a higher price point based on a host of new and awesome features. I plan to buy it almost certainly. Cut cable 6+ years ago and never looked back with 3 AppleTV's. But I'm not a big sports fan which would make cutting the cord harder. Can't wait!!

It says that you have to use the same Apple ID on the Apple TV and iPhone to control devices. What if you have multiple iOS users in one house?

A lot of light bulb flickering and devices going on and off?

Looking forward to control a house with Siri commands:

Siri switch off the lights in the living room.

Did you mean the brides and living groom?

NO ! SWITCH OFF THE LIGHTS IN THE LIVING ROOM

There are 3 lights nearby

Switching to FM Lite in iTunes

Hopefully it has it's own storage so I can finally leave my Mac off while watching HB'd DVD's.

Having owned the bigger storage 1st generation version, I'll simply restate that- IMO- the best way to deal with this want is to normalize that USB port so people can attach whatever amount of storage they want, AND/OR build in some NAS capabilities so that NAS storage can become "local" storage. Apple will not be able to guess the right amount of local storage for everyone. Where you might want 250GB, another might want 2,500GB... or 5,000GB or more. Leave the flexible storage as an add-on and everyone can get whatever level of storage they want.

That said though, being able to sync content to local storage ("cutting the cord" to the always-on computer which might sometimes leave a home) was a GREAT feature in the 1st generation and one that will be great to have again if it actually arrives. I hope it does (implemented as described above rather than built into the next box based upon Apple arbitrarily picking a size to include- a choice they can't possibly get right for everyone).

JJ Abrams wearing an Apple Watch in public = front page material
Apple revealing new features = iOS blog

Sometimes I don't get MacRumors' priorities...

Getting star wars traffic. Macrumors knows what it's doing. At least they don't post "J.J. Abrams announces second teaser. You'll never guess what he was wearing..." type of headline.

After signing in with the same Apple ID on an iOS device and Apple TV, users can use Siri commands to remotely control lights, locks, thermostats, smart plugs and other HomeKit-enabled accessories. A separate new support document lists the available HomeKit-compatible devices as they begin to roll out.
I hope to god that they allow multiple accounts, or the family account to control. It would be stupid if I could only use Siri to control my house and my wife couldn't. I thought they were trying to get away from people sharing a single account.

They already have. The Apple TV is already capable of having multiple Apple accounts logged in simultaneously. I don't know why no one else seems to know this. o_O

Awesome!
Apple can control my home, TV and life from their hub in SF!
I wonder what they will do with all the data they collect from my Apple account tied to all their devices...

This all sounds splendid aside from the fact that my apple TV struggles with the basic function of home sharing from iTunes on my iMac on the same home network. No library shows on ATV, reboot the ATV its there, sometimes that doesn't work and a reboot of the ATV AND iMac sorts it.

Doesn't give me much hope for locking and unlocking my front door or turning of the heating from work lol

Me: Hey work colleague, look how I can unlock my door at home from my apple watch.
Colleague: Thats awesome!
Me: Now watch in complete awe as I lock it again.....no connection to the ATV??!!
SHHHIIIIII!!!!
