Since he claims to have watched the first minutes of the pilot, he perhaps missed the TV-MA notice on the splash screen, although I think his/her home country it's just MA.Sex and violence are immature?

‘Immature’ in the sense that some people need foul language, graphic violence or sex/nudity to be entertained or titillated, like teenage boys, mostly. I grew out of that need quite a while ago. So have lots of other people. Yes, TV can reflect our society, warts and all, but it can also entertain and inform without having to mimic all the worst aspects of it. But, all of this is subjective. I don’t ask Apple to drop shows like these, but, rather to include more shows that cater to more mature tastes. After all, Apple is famous for its emphasis on inclusivity! I hope that, as this new service grows, the situation will improve.Get real.
Netflix had a 13 year streaming head start over Apple and didn't start original programing until 2013 (House of Cards). Until that time they had licensed content.
Amazon had a 14 year streaming head start over Apple and didn't start original programing until 2013 (Amazon Studios).
Apple has what 15, 16 shows available right now? It's been just over 3 months and they have more original shows than Netflix or Amazon started out with in same time frame.
You got it backwards.
The type of shows you are looking for that are family safe are the immature shows.
I want all streaming services to be broader. We need more choices across platforms and within them. That being said, we now have 10x more choices than anytime in history so I don’t feel like you have a very valid complaint. When you restrict yourself viewing to merely language and do not consider quality or themes, you simply create more constrictions upon yourself. Just because something is family friendly does not mean it is good viewing for the entire family. It’s just the lowest common denominator.I can scroll through Netflix and find plenty of family-friendly fare. Haven’t spent more than a few minutes on Amazon, so I can’t comment on it. Yes, we have dozens of free broadcast channels in Ireland (both over the air and via satellite) but that’s not my point. All of those options, whether streaming or broadcast offer a broad range of programming to suit a broad range of tastes. Apple seems to have aimed for the immature audience sector rather than the broader one. I think it’s a pity. Maybe it will change over time. My 1-year subscription has a long way to go yet. Time will tell.
Not everyone talks like that, my friend.god forbid people talk on tv the same way they talk in real life
Your definition of mature/immature doesn't seem to match the rest of the world.‘Immature’ in the sense that some people need foul language, graphic violence or sex/nudity to be entertained or titillated, like teenage boys, mostly. Have you contacted Apple with your concerns? MacRumors doesn't have anything to do with content on Apple TV+‘But, all of this is subjective. I get what you are trying to say. Many shows (especially on ATV+) have unnecessary sex, masturbation, nudity, etc., that add nothing to the show. Take the scene out and nothing is missed (except by those that enjoy that sort of thing). I've got no problem with "MA" material if it's a necessary part of the show, but just for the sake of having it because the writers think a show just can't succeed without a masturbation or nudity scene, I can do without.‘Immature’ in the sense that some people need foul language, graphic violence or sex/nudity to be entertained or titillated, like teenage boys, mostly. Fictional characters and situations are a standard part of any psychological evaluation.
One famous example was the original Star Trek, which got two pilots, with major changes to the core of the cast between the two pilots (no Kirk or McCoy in the first one). The reason so many Pilots are called “pilot” is that the first episode is normally the pitch to a studio with the hope of shopping or getting picked up. That’s why Pilot episodes are so starkly different than subsequent episodes. Sometimes they are produced months in advance to the other episodes because of negotiations and determining budget to fund the entire season.
Most series I’ve seen so far have been lukewarm, Morning Show, Truth Be Told, Dickinson. The Servant started off strong but went belly up mid-season imho. The Morning Show tried hard to keep workplace issues, politics & scandals in scale and fair on all accounts, but went belly up as well earlier with all the sobbing and whining. Same for Truth Be Told. Too much dragged out drama.
Will give this a go anyway
So people losing their livelihoods and families and suicide is too much crying for you but crying over a cartoon makes sense?sobbing and whining restlessly in every damn episode does not make good drama, period.
ps I've teared up with How to Train your Dragon's romantic flight scene - due to the music mostly, which I saw for the first time 4 years ago, at 35
Never thought I would read someone describe workplace sexual harassment and other issues including suicide as sobbing and whining. Most series I’ve seen so far have been lukewarm, Morning Show, Truth Be Told, Dickinson. Absolutely true, so you have a choice watch or not, but slaming a show because of language is asking for censorship. I don’t slam family friendly shows for talking like nobody I know, including families. They are just words Not flaming serpents. Not everyone talks like that, my friend.
Oh no, the F-word! Do you really think your kids aren't hearing that word (and using it themselves (and guess who they learn it off?)) on a regular basis day in, day out, in real life? Some people's expectations of TV vs real world is simply bizarre. Most of the shows with sex and violence your kids would find boring anyway, and by the time they are old enough to enjoy the content, they will already be a pro at the F-word.So, yet another show from Apple that is not family-friendly! What a major disappointment. Even For All Mankind had to pop in two f-words per episode, without any need! Sigh. Hopefully someone will realise that there is a substantial segment of the audience out there that wants to be able to watch shows without needing to mute or skip - or just not watch at all. Mystic Quest joins See, Truth be Told, The Morning Show and Servant as unsuitable for this family’s viewing. Have we reached the point where immature (foul language, sex/nudity, extreme violence) content it required for a ‘successful’ TV show? It looks like Disney+’s arrival here (Ireland) in late March will be the only way forward....
Honestly, only disappointment so far is See, which I though would be my favorite one at launch.
What AppleTV+ show has nudity in it? I remember the mastabation scene(s) in See, though you didn’t actually see any of her Naughty Bits; but sex and nudity? I don’t remember so much as a female nipple in any Apple TV+ programme I’ve seen. Do I need to watch Dickenson? Many shows (especially on ATV+) have unnecessary sex, masturbation, nudity, etc., that add nothing to the show.
Ubisoft (publisher of the AC series) was heavily involved in the production of the show. Good catch on aya kissing bayek! I missed that one.First two episodes watched, loving it!
Just a quick question: As an Assassin's Creed player, I swear that I saw AC mentioned/showed like three times in the first episode (Aya kissing Bayek, Leap of Faith in a haystack and a real life hidden blade in a scene) and as I don't know anything about Mythic Quest at all I wonder why the AC references?? what's the connection between the games?
iirc, 14-year olds tend to throw around the F-bomb quite a bit. But yeah, it depends on how old the family is.Sadly, not so. I started to watch it and had to stop as soon as the ‘14-year-old’ started spouting f-words. Not family friendly. I’ve no issue with those who want to watch immature content with lots of foul language and the like. I’m just wondering why Apple has chosen to exclude a lot of us with so many family-unfriendly shows. It’s a pity.

But if you just want 100% sanitized content, Apple TV+ is definitely not for you. You will also not enjoy other channels, for instance you might also want to avoid HBO and Showtime.
But Nickelodeon, Nat Geo, Disney, Noggin are typically family friendly, and many others as well. You can also set parental controls.
It depends on whether you’re trying to make a passive-aggressive, holier-than-thou point that one is much too refined and mature to find such low-brow content either appropriate or entertaining.Sex and violence are immature?
I keep a fainting couch at the ready for just such occasions. It’s on wheels and I can roll it in at a moment’s notice, but I’ve been known to be a few seconds late in properly positioning it. Oh well, nobody’s perfect 🤷♂️I resent the appropriation of the phrase “family friendly” by those who get the vapors if they hear English four-letter words that have been used by royalty, clergy, and the common person for hundreds of years.
I’m married, have a young daughter, and I encourage her to say any word she wants as long as she isn’t in school or with her friends. And I’m pretty sure we’re a family.
Apple also orders pilots. That means they pitch and determine some elements for the writers to expand upon. They write big checks but they also steer the course of all their programming just like any TV network. They watched the pilot and agreed to send it to production. They get credit for having good taste.
