No commercials in this one? I just hate the morning show, everywhere Apple presence, iMacs, mpro's earpod, iPhone, never saw so much I-stuff except in a I-store..

Sitcom would be nice, but is Apple willing to gamble?

You need 22 to 26 episodes per season in 22-30 min formats for people with short attention spans. Apple probably needs to probably rent/build their own soundstage, get a live audience, promote adverts, hire people like Chuck Lorre, etc

One of the reasons those are highly successful is because they also attract ad dollars at premium slots. I feel there is a reason why Netflix hasn’t gone this route (yet?)

Good points though I think studio sitcoms have the potential for being far cheaper to produce than anything else Apple has released yet because they're done in one location on a fixed set. They build the sets once and then reuse them for every episode and future seasons. No special effects, big production crews or complex camera and lighting setups. Just 2 or 3 cameras with fixed lighting. The cost of production comes from hiring actors, producers and writers.

The short nature of sitcoms translates really well to the streaming model and would be a good fit for playing on iPhones. I'd even make them shorter than the 22 minutes (without ads). I've been watching The Office for breakfast and lunch every day. But 22 minutes tends to be a little long. I'd love a 10-15 minute sitcom that you can watch during the span of a meal.

There are tons of talented comedians out there waiting to be discovered. They wouldn't have to hire known actors, just a good producer and writing team.

- There's this rumor about Apple going to build a gaming laptop.
- Then there's this show that's paid for by Apple that's stuffed with product placement not from Apple, but from Razer.

Is Apple going to buy Razer ?

had to stop as soon as the ‘14-year-old’ started spouting f-words. Not family friendly.
Maybe you should watch real 14 year old vloggers a bit on their medium of choice, you might pick up on a few words for yourself to use.

I didn’t expect much but ended up binging the entire season. Its a pretty good show with an unique gaming setting. Hope we get a season 2!
Pretty much the same. Whilst only skin deep, the characters are pretty funny. If Season 2 were out now, I’d be binge watching that too.

I think any show that has "creatives" in it, will have some apple products, but there are not that many here. It even has quite a few laptops with cases or skins on them where you honestly have to look really hard to see that it’s a Mac, or not.

All the prominently in view gear has Razer's logos on it.
The green headphones of the testers, the thin back laptops, the controllers, it's all Razer.
See here for their logo and gear

[Actually, the only gear of razer I have ever owned are mousepads: they rock, have had them for years]

I get what you are trying to say. Many shows (especially on ATV+) have unnecessary sex, masturbation, nudity, etc., that add nothing to the show. Take the scene out and nothing is missed (except by those that enjoy that sort of thing). I've got no problem with "MA" material if it's a necessary part of the show, but just for the sake of having it because the writers think a show just can't succeed without a masturbation or nudity scene, I can do without.
I don't think you have seen anything on HBO, which is universally considered top TV. HBO's Game of Thrones and Westworld make See and Morning Show look like Disney Saturday morning cartoons by comparison.

Caught the first 15 min. of the pilot. I. m. h. o. it sucked like a gaping chest wound. Come on, Apple, you can't get away with putting out lame stuff like this.
So sad that you managed to miss all the punchline resolutions by not even completing an episode. Really your loss.

Ian reminds me somewhat of Jason Vandenberghe, which is probably not a coinidence since it's Ubisoft
Rob mentioned that he met a creative director at Ubisoft who was wearing 10 rings on his hands and answered "I create worlds" when asked what his job entailed. That was the inspiration for this whole show apparently.

Actually, there is going to be a standard family sitcom in May called "Trying" about a couple trying to have a kid (without luck), but it's a BBC team up with british actors (including Imelda Staunton!!)

Season 2 is already being worked on - with a full second season ordered before this debuted.

Apple clearly knows quality when they see it - they are renewing all their best shows right away.

This was literally one of the funniest moments in the episode to me—because it was real. You ever seen the way a 14 year old talks on the Internet? This is one of the ONLY times I’ve ever seen a “mainstream” show acknowledge so bluntly that this is how the generation growing up on the Internet is (all debates about whether or not that’s good aside; it obviously got more than a bit satirical with the way he was treating his mother).

I guarantee any 12yo+ child who saw their parent(s) turn this off because of THAT KID of all people would roll their eyes to the back of their head. I’ve been lurking on this site since I was 9, and that was when access to a computer before age 13 or 14 was unheard of (now it’s taken for granted). Everyone here knows how this forum is. Put two and two together, it’s more-than-useful wisdom for the parents of this generation.

What "job" does Apple actually have in these ATV+ series? Don't they just buy them? Aren't they the work of someone else?
What „job“ is Apple acually doing designing the iphone, don’t they pay someone to do that...🙄

I think you’re looking for a lunch short (like those 10-15 min office shorts on the website) and not a normal sitcom. If a sitcom was trimmed down to 15 minutes, they wouldn’t be able to tell much story. I think maybe you’re thinking that with the Office because of how slow natured the plot moves.

With shows like HIMYM, Friends, BBT, etc it just wouldn’t work.

It’s apparently 1 season with 8 30-minute episodes. Not exactly fitting the sitcom genre that iPedro and I are talking about

Gone back to watching DVD's of MASH, Buffy, Sanctuary, StarTrek, etc etc etc and a LOT of English stuff Broadchurch, Luther, etc

All better shows than the tired worn out themes with no imagination left in them that makes up 90% and more of modern TV.

As secretive as Apple is, I don't see them putting Easter eggs like that in shows. It just doesn't feel very Apple to me.
Only time will tell. Might not have been an intentional easter egg just as well. Making such a show takes time, maybe they hoped to have a deal finished before the show launched publicly.
Anyway it looks like heavy product placement from Razer, heavier than what Apple typically does for themselves.

It is however somewhat weird to see such product placement for a company that also sells laptops, (even if they aim for a slightly different type of users). Hard to imagine this went public without the big wigs at Apple knowing about it either. Something must have made them not care enough.

Apple did buy Beats by Dre ...
They could do the same again with a company like Razer, and kill off some aspects and empower others.

I'm not a parent. Most new content is just trash that caters to man's most base desires.

Apple TV is competing with HBO not Disney, not Nick JR. Beginning and end of story. If you have needs you should write your own show for PBS or something.

Mature themed shows have always been in the minority and behind barriers like needing an HBO subscription. I welcome this new content.

You still have Hallmark, Lifetime, History, Disney, Nick, PBS, etc.

This is literally an optional streaming service. If you don't like the playground you can play elsewhere. That's the glory of choice. Coming here to complain you don't like Apple programming is pointless. No one is forcing you to watch.

I remember when certain sci-fi shows once made fun of curse censors by trying to invent 'in-universe' curses. Battlestar Galactica had Frack and Felgercarb, Farscape had Frell, Dren, and Fahrbot.

People worked up over 'bad words' are the reason you can't even follow a modern show on broadcast TV because every other word in a sentence is 'BLEEP!!!'

As Eric Cartman from South Park once said, "Hey what's the big deal it's just a word it's not hurting anyone!" (regarding F-word)

I kinda miss the badly coded forum censors though, that once turned perfectly ordinary words like "Classic" to "Clbuttic". I personally loved "Buttbuttination"

I might have just accidentally finished watching the entire season. It has moments of brilliance, it took turns I didn't expect, and left me wanting to know what happens next with the characters. I think it did pretty damn good for a first season of something, from a studio (studio? network? streaming service?) that's only on their first season of everything.

It spends a lot of time being funny, with people being a bit off the rails, but has surprising moments of poignancy (one in particular that you won't get unless you watch the whole season, that I want to say how touching I found it to be, but I can't say much without giving it away).

I will look forward to the next season.

(P.S. At least two of the episodes have mid-credit (ish) scenes - now I'm wondering if I missed any others.)

I really enjoyed this show. After watching the pilot for free I subscribed in order to see the rest. I hope since it’s a simple show to make, that the second season will be here sooner rather than later.

If I hate It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia am I likely to hate this?
I didn't like Philadelphia premise but this one seams to be more interesting, relevant to my life.
