Apple TV+ Show 'Ted Lasso' Likely to End After Season 3

This is fantastic.

I love this show. Re-watched many episodes.

But it’s so great that Apple is having the discipline to not milk the show. HBO screwed this up with Pretty Little Lies. It was a perfect show in one season. The director and writer had no interest in doing additional seasons because it was a perfectly told story, and complete.

But that didn’t last long with the money guys. Season 2 was commissioned, people were over-paid to get onboard. And, as a surprise to no one, Season 2 sucked. And I’m sure Season 3 will be a cash grab of unwatchable garbage.

I’m sure part of Apple's decision is economics. Shows get very expensive to make after Season 3 because actors, writers, producers, showrunner, et al., know the show is a hit and it’s payday for everyone involved.

But Apple has the money to push through that. So my hope is they are taking an audience-friendly, storyteller view of the decision and delivering us 3 perfect seasons.

AppleTV+ is the new HBO.

It's such a gem of a show, light hearted and funny with an overall genuine happy tone to it.
Highly recommend watching Trying on Apple TV too, British humour is absolutely the best.

This was a good series that I didn't think I would like that I ended up liking. Sad it's going away.

Season 4 - Champions League
(top competition with the best teams from all the European leagues for those that don't follow football)

They had three of those godawful Goal movies. Four seasons of Ted Lasso would more than make up for them. May Hera bless us with more Ted Lasso!

Absolutely love this show, and hope it does end as planned. Every time a good tv show gets good ratings, they keep extending it until write a bad season then it ends Horribly. So many good shows died this way.

Lawrence also implied that Sudeikis has family commitments that discourage prolonged periods of filming overseas, making a fourth season of the show very unlikely.

Good on him. That’s a rarity to have family values in Hollywood nowadays. Ted Lasso is an amazing show and I’m looking forward to rewatching these three seasons years from now.

It’s the best TV I’ve watched in ages. Somehow able to mix laughter with genuine attachment to the characters. Funny, genuinely engaging and characters who whilst flawed, really make you want to root for them.

Where’s the proof? Statements like this are meaningless absent official viewing statistics from Apple, which we will probably never get. Popularity is relative.

I love the show, but if the plan is three solid seasons, I'll take it. I'd much prefer quality content and storylines, even if the series ends a little early vs just milking something so long it becomes a joke. (Simpsons?)

This is great news. It means all episodes/season will be purposeful and we’ll get a true ending.
Too often shows will ride their wave of success until people start to move on, often as quality starts to dwindle, and then either it gets cancelled without a proper satisfying ending, or the production starts to add gimmicks and such to try and recapture the audience (which doesn’t work out, leading to cancellation, but this time no one actually cares that the ending isn’t satisfying cause the show is crap already)

Massive bummer. All good things must come to an end, I suppose. I dearly hope that Sudeikis will reevaluate this decision after S3, once Ted Lasso becomes even more well known and inevitably becomes a cultural touchstone/monolith.

I just started watching it and love it. I’m like 6 episodes in. Fantastic, funny and lite show to watch before bedtime! Sad to see it end.
