VPNs have come a long way when it comes to speed.Router VPN is the future. Nothing in my house ever gets access to the web without going through a VPN. Nothing. Apple TV included. This is welcome, though, and obviously the only option if your router doesn’t support VPN profiles.
Highly doubt your explanation is the reason Apple limits or prohibits a web browser.I feel it's more about the user interface / interaction. A touchpad cursor could work, but because it's so small I can see it becoming tedious.
Too late Apple, I already bought a Nvidia Shield Pro. Apple Tv was great but I prefer freedom, VPN, a browser and no ads on Youtube.

However, they add latency and for gaming its not worth it.
Otherwise, I would probably have mine setup at the router.
Yeah that's actually a good point.Highly doubt your explanation is the reason Apple limits or prohibits a web browser.
With a web browser on AppleTV one can surf the web, email, online office or google docs, login into a remote computer, etc.
Apple does not want the end-user to have an affordable computer with AppleTV. MacMini or iPad is for you.
Are you routing to the same city or area that you’re in?Router VPN is the future. Nothing in my house ever gets access to the web without going through a VPN. Nothing. Apple TV included.
I'm sure it can. But it's not a good or even useful experience, especially when you have a Mac, iPhone or iPad around. Why can’t Apple TV run Safari?
Wow, interesting. If you don’t mind answering I’d be really interested to understand the following:Router VPN is the future. You would set up your router to send everything over a VPN connection. How do you achieve this technologically across all these devices?
Waiting for all the people who've defended Netflix for their password sharing crack down because doing so is illegal and against their Terms of Use (and is the equivalent of theft 🤣) to tell us it's also wrong, illegal, and against their Terms of Use to use a VPN to access content in a country that isn't your primary residence.VPN apps could allow for Apple TV users to watch geo-restricted content from any location, such as the U.S. version of Netflix in another country.
Along with Facebook/Meta VPN service it’s free just have to cough up private data. 😝

My TV is on the other side of my desk, only seperated by a wall, so I just got a long 10mm drill bit and an HDMI to USB-C cable. Fits right through and whenever I move out, I can just patch it up.Too late Apple, I already bought a Nvidia Shield Pro. Apple Tv was great but I prefer freedom, VPN, a browser and no ads on Youtube.
Also because you can AirPlay from any Mac, iPhone or iPad, and those all have working UI for using Safari (or whatever other browser).I feel it's more about the user interface / interaction. A touchpad cursor could work, but because it's so small I can see it becoming tedious.
More of a lost to you since you are on here complaining about something you don’t even own.Too late Apple, I already bought a Nvidia Shield Pro. Apple Tv was great but I prefer freedom, VPN, a browser and no ads on Youtube.
