I'm not sure if the "local" areas are the same as they were back then, but if they are it's a pile of crap. In three weeks I saw 0 games I wanted to see. When I got home the Halos were back on a homestand and the Dodgers were in San Diego to play the Padres. I know this was just chance, but I still promptly canceled my subscription when I got back.
roku xd and xds has these apps, along with like 30 others..
so yea, appletv is stillllll far behind
Wake me up when this works with NFL Sunday Ticket.
I live in Southern California and am a big Angels fan. I also like the Padres for some reason, and like watching the Dodgers lose. I had the MLB.tv package for 3 weeks a few years ago and during that time I had traveled to Nebraska.
The first 1-2 weeks all three teams were on homestands, and I was locked out due to all three being local. The next week I went to Omaha, Nebraska. The Angels that week were playing the Royals, the Padres the Cardinals, and the Dodgers the Cubs. All three apparently were in the local market for Nebraska, and I was blacked out for these series as well. When the Halos traveled to play the White Sox on my last day in Nebraska, and the Padres and Dodgers swapped series, I still had no access.

Perhaps Apple will have some clout in getting local access for these things. But I won't hold my breath. MLB isn't getting money from me from cable, and they aren't getting my money for MLB.tv either. If they removed the local blackout rules, they'd be getting my money.
THIS!
Cmon F1 networks, Bernie, or whomever is in charge of making this decision. How great would it be?? I'd buy it right now.
AppleTV = still a MASSIVE fail for anyone outside the US.
TV networks pay a lot of money to broadcast games, this is why there are blackout rules. they want a monopoly in the local market or huge discount on the fees they pay
Hmm...isn't this the same stuff that's been available already on the Roku? Not to mention the ton of other channels they have...Apple TV still doesn't seem even close.
The dangerous thing about being in the Apple bubble is how blind you can get to how many other great things are out there, including products that are flat out better. I'd certainly say this is a case of that happening. Plenty of Apple fans are going to think this is something new.
After I update my Apple TV, there's a "What's New" screen (which I cannot get back now) that mentions streaming from Safari as a new feature. What is up with that! I can't seem to make it happen.![]()
When is the UK going to see some love? We don't even have TV show rentals! It's literally Movies, Trailers, Youtube.
However, the websites must explicitly enable AirPlay, it is disabled by default. Thus, for the time being you won't find many web-based videos that will work with AirPlay....Using it from within Safari is similar to its functionality with Apple's Videos app. Just launch Safari, find a site that contains video, and look for the AirPlay icon in the video window. Tap the icon and select your Apple TV from the resulting menu. When you start playing the video, it should appear on the TV attached to your Apple TV.![]()

Here's the Roku site, where there is NO MENTION of support for the MLB TV package. None. Zero. Zip.
So... thanks for the inaccurate info.
If you go to MLB.TV they list the Roku.

Maybe Roku has not updated their site.
i thought only local teams are blackedout. im in cali and can't watch a knicks vs. grizzlies game?
