Anyone try out the NBA League Pass option yet?

I have a broadband subscription so I can watch games on my computer, but I don't want to buy it again for ATV...

I think the whole idea is that you DON'T have to buy it again. You just login to ATV as if it's your computer.

The spring training games for mlb.tv are supposed to be free. How come I can't watch them on ATV?

It says 4.2 on my TV AFTER the update what needed 15 min all together (download, reboot…). Is that okay or did something get wrong?

I agree with many people here. I might actually take this offer up IF there were no local blackouts. Otherwise it's worthless to me.

This is great. Thankfully where I live the only team that is subject to local blackout is the Kansas City Royals, so I'll have virtually no problem watching my Giants! :D

So, am I to understand that no matter which NBA package I purchase, I will be unable to watch Bulls games because I live in Chicago? I can watch every other team but the one I want?

Comcast Is History When.....

The Apple TV offers live college football subscription services. I pay $80 per month to watch college football from Sept thru Jan. The rest of the year my TV is bascially a flower pot except for the occasional DVD.

I would gladly pay a subscription fee to have ALL college football games of my favorite team (UW) available via Apple TV. I would probably end up saving $50 per month and would only pay for the "season".

Comcast and TV in general are worthless except for college football and I would like nothing better than to dump both for "niche" programming.

I'm not much of a game watcher but my brother has it on his TV non-stop via Direct TV. I would love to get The SciFi Channel and HGTV via a subscription without all that cable crap piled on top. Right now I've been using Hulu on my computer but if it had a App on my ATV that would be great.

Blackouts

I think the blackout only applies to the live broadcast. You can watch the game, but you have to wait until it's over. I get the feeling from several posts that some are thinking that the game is never available.

the applicable game will be available as an archived game approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of the game.

For me, this is perfect. A lot of games come on when I'm busy with family, etc. anyway, so I don't get to pay attention or I have to DVR it (and potentially missing the last out since the DVR isn't smart enough to know the game isn't over). Having it (still) available once the "critter" is tucked away and the honey-do list is complete, chilling out with some AL Championship Texas Rangers baseball will be great.

You are likely to blow through your Comcast 250GB ceiling

It's likely that if you watch streaming TV via netflix, MLB, etc. passes, and use your Apple TV as your most often viewed TV source, you'll blow through your 250GB Comcast monthly data limit. And they just don't stop or slow your connection for a while. If you it twice, they promise to disconnect your Comcast Cable internet service for at least a year.

I hate monopolies!

I would rather they fixed the displaying of Seasons of a TV Show, or give us an alphabetical shortcut to skip thru large libraries

Looks like you have a much bigger issue...it updated all the text to gibberish!

The update for :apple:TV released today is 4.2. The update for iphone/ipad is 4.3. It would be nice if they were using the same numbering system, but alas, not.

This is pretty significant. It's the first indication I've seen that Apple has enough confidence in its technical prowess to reliably stream live footage to Apple TV and charge for it.

Add scalable bandwidth (NC server farm), a gigantic installed base (every Apple TV, iPhone 4, iPad, iTunes on computers, etc.), and content agreements (which won't be easy), and live streaming is a potential game-changer for Apple as a content provider.

If Apple offered a TV package that included a critical mass of shows, live news, live sports and special events like award shows with comparable pricing to my cable plan, I would probably do it.
