I cannot tell visually if I have an AppleTV 2 or AppleTV3...

that stinks but I guess I can tell on the looks next time i update it.

This is getting really redundant now...

Music, iTunes Radio, and Beats Music?

I know the difference between them, but it seems to me that a non-tech savvy person would have difficulty knowing the difference.

And don't forget Computers > Sharename > Music (the only way I actually listen to music through the ATV).

Don't forget that the ATV2 can be jailbroken and there is a HUGE market for them on eBay for that reason, selling for at least a couple of hundred dollars.

Just in case you were going to get low balled by a company or friend.

So theoretically I can get $200 for it???

My guess on abandoning Apple TV 2 is that it doesn't include the A5 CPU like the Apple TV 3 does.

If ATV software is based on the latest iOS as well, this makes sense: the iPhone 4S is now the oldest acceptable iPhone model, and was also the first with the A5.

Anything older than the A5 simply doesn't receive the major updates today I think.

They (Ars Technica) are also saying graphics stuff is measurably slower on A5 phones/pads with iOS8, so it would probably be worse for TV2.

Argh, when the hell are they going to open it up to more apps, like Plex? Plus, no categorization in the Movies app is getting worse and worse, the more movies I get.

I got all excited at first when I read "Apple TV Updated" then I read the rest of the title and was a little sad.

That's pretty much how Apple TV updates go, unfortunately. At least it appears this may be the last insulting update :apple: TV2 owners will have to put up with.

Does anyone have problems when trying to use AirPlay from Mac OS X 10.9.4 to Apple TV with new iOS version 7.0?

After downgrade back to iOS 6.x AirPlay is working fine again.

Yawn. A long (and expanding) grid of large icons does not a UI make. Apple needs to talk to the good folks at Plex for a ground-up rebuild of the interface. And add an official Plex app while they're at it.

I've got a good feeling that a 4th gen is right around the corner, given that the current gen is on sale this week.

Apple products usually only go on sale when they're soon to be replaced.

Maybe to be announced at the iPad event next month?

Would be cool to get new iPads and AppleTV's

And then maybe new MacMini with the release of Yosemite?

Does anyone know why i get a "Waiting for update server" when trying to update? It just stays like that.

I have had categories in my movies (iCloud) app for a while (drama/comedy/etc)? I have 200 movies currently
