Sloooowwww

That has got to be the slowest aTV update I have ever experienced. Slow to download (50m), slow to prepare (30m+), slow to install (20-30m). With only a few small changes in the actual interface, I have to believe there is more to this version than meets the eye...maybe something that is laying the foundation for something in the near future.

Then again...probably not. ;)

Waiting for the update server...

My upstairs AppleTV 2.0 updated right away.. The downstairs AppleTV 3.0 just says "WAITING FOR THE UPDATE SERVER" for the last hour... Tried a restart and still nothing... Are the servers THAT busy or is there an issue?

Don't forget that the ATV2 can be jailbroken and there is a HUGE market for them on eBay for that reason, selling for at least a couple of hundred dollars.

Just in case you were going to get low balled by a company or friend.

Wow, thanks for that info. I just checked and you are right about that. Amazing that it only cost a hundred but people are buying them for $200-$250 on ebay.

An amazing upgrade, with Beats we have yet another feature that doesn't work in the UK, just like iTunes Radio. The next time I pay for my iTunes Match subscription (which includes a non existing iTunes Radio) I will pay with Apple Pay, which also is not available here in the UK, or anywhere, but the US of A.

Compatibility with iTunes?

At this point I just want better compatibility with iTunes. I love that iTunes Extra finally works, but i want to be able to search for and rent a movie on iTunes on my computer and watch it on my Apple TV - it is RIDICULOUS, that you can't do this simple thing - even though you can Rent and Purchase from ATV and have it show up on iTunes.

Also why are Wish Lists called Favorites on ATV? They are completely incompatible with with each other - again, just stupid. I spent all this time building my digital library that's now "powered" by iTunes, why can't I get a consistent interface across both platforms?

I gave up on eBay years ago - too many scammers and not enough buyer or seller protection.

It would blow my mind and make me extremely giddy if there was new ATV that actually supported External HDs (Something Apple will Never Do) and make it easy to plug my nicely tagged and organized iTunes Library directly into it. So basically a Mac Mini without the mac mini :0....

The new refreshed UI is MUCH better. But more work needs to be done. There has to be a better way to organise apps (also SDK please Apple).

And search needs a major overhaul.

There's no browser app on the AppleTV, if that's what you're asking. But if you have a Mac that supports AirPlay, you can just mirror your Mac's screen on your TV (using the AppleTV).

At the bare minimum, the :apple:TV needs a rudimentary browser for those of us who travel and need some way to authenticate to forms-based hotel WiFi screens in order to play Netflix, MLB, etc. content.

That's all mine says too.

I hear ya.. I just got screwed over on two transactions this month, one where I was a seller, and another as a buyer!

You'd think if my history shows I've got a perfect 400 score 100% feeback, they wouldn't make me feel like scum. Especially since I've bought and sold many, many more expensive items than the ones in question. Like I am really trying to get one over on them on a low-value item. Maybe a courtesy refund for a member who filed a claim for the first time and has been with them since the year 2000? Instead I was told they can't do anything for me.

It left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be using them anymore. I know I'm just one person and they won't miss me, but at this point it feels like I would be disrespecting myself to continue using them.

For the love of #$%@ spend some time making the ATV worth it's while Apple. The iPhone and iPad "Remote" app for example...So much potential being wasted in what is a completely garbage interface.

Overdue refresh but the Apple TV needs far more than a new set of icons and fonts. Here's hoping there's a new Apple TV coming soon.

They're looking to have the content ready before pushing (or releasing) the new container to the users.

.........I can't believe I just said that. I'm definitely in need of a new AppleTV that reaches the bar that was set by other Apple products such as the iPhone. AppleTV currently does not meet other Apple's standards in terms of interface efficiency.

Yep and it's especially bad when trying to sell electronics. I remember back in the day I tried to have a Reseller business and so many people tried to scam me - one almost succeeding but the drop shipper wouldn't honor the check, that I just gave up. Even when trying to sell an used laptop I would get literally a hundred emails from scammers, everything from people saying they'd paying 1,000 for a laptop I was only trying to sell for $200, etc...

----------

Yes homesharing not werking anymore here.........
Cannot connect to library......

It's connecting to the Apple TV that's in my living room because I have it hooked up via a weird "fake" ethernet thing. But the one in my Bedroom that's on WiFi, it's not finding at all. Even though it's connected to the network.

Vudu

My Apple TV wishlist:

* Comcast XFinity VOD app
* Amazon Instant Watch or w/e/f it is called.

I would love it if there was a Vudu App then all of my Digital Copies (Between Vudu, iTunes and my Rips I have over 1,300 movies and TV Shows) would be on one device.

Ah, working now, I had to restart iTunes a few times before it worked.

I got all excited at first when I read "Apple TV Updated" then I read the rest of the title and was a little sad.

Yup. Lipstick on a pig. Not that Apple TV isn't great. But this is hardly "exciting" as the device really needs a full UI overhaul, not just new fonts, colors and icons.

Drop outs

Since updating I am experiencing very frequent drop outs while listening to internet radio through my Apple TV. Anyone else getting this problem? Looks like I may have to miss Radio Paradise untill the next update.. :(

Is a 3rd generation Apple TV really required?

There's a software update waiting on my 2nd generation but so far it hasn't downloaded - servers must be hammered.

This update refuses to download for me. First time that I've ever experienced a problem getting an update installed on any of my devices. Servers must be far overworked.

And OS X 10.9.5 is taking _forever_ to download, so this confirms my suspicions.

Makes you wonder what the point of all the data centers is, if they don't have capacity for iPhone orders or iOS/OSX releases... :(
