This reads like they do actually pay attention to the complaints about pathetic starting specs

Good to see 👏

No one notices the improvements on iPad I have the m1 iPad Pro and I’ve used the m4 and it’s identical, no apps people use on the cheaper entry level iPad that needs that power, they could of at least done some display changes
These differences aren’t noticed right away. I don’t notice speed improvements from generation to generation either. But most people hold on to their computer or MacBook for 5 years or even more. In 5 years, the A13 Pro chip will be over 10 years old. At that point, an A16 chip will be performing a lot better, albeit it’ll probably be due for an upgrade at that point.

This thing on sale for $299 with 128GB starting is a nice entry point for the iPad lineup. The chip won't make a huge difference but the value is still there. I do wonder how much RAM is in this one. Maybe 6GB?

An iPad mini 7 on sale for $399 with A17 Pro is the better buy (IMO)

Could argue $349** iPad on sale will be better, but I have a feeling it wont be $100 off like iPad mini and will take a while since its the regular iPad.

Still nice to have a successor to 10th gen, and bump to base 128 since it was getting pretty long in the tooth with A14 (iPhone 12 SoC class from 2020)

This isn’t for me. But the iPad Air is $600. If you’re looking for a reliable, no frills tablet, this is still a good value.
Guys you can find the iPad Air M1 at apple refurbished for the same price as the iPad A16… The M1 has Apple Intelligence!
