This is the question. And I’m thinking no? I’m guessing it only has 4 or 6 GB RAM?
Since it's A16, it's most likely 6 GB. But we won't know for sure until we have Geekbench results or something similar.

With AI out of the way, I think 6 GB would be perfect for this class of machine. That's enough for a 5+ year lifespan with good performance.

I agree but the mini is more expensive… it would need to be the same price.

The Mini is a premium product with a laminated wide-color display and Pencil Pro support, as well as better specs. That's why it costs more.

Dude the iPad A14 has an extra CPU core… hahahahahahahahahahaha

AI on the watered down iPhone 16e but not the new base iPad! Apple leadership is utterly pathetic with no consistency at all. A16 chip is a joke as well.

Dude, you keep posting stuff like this, missing the point. You did this for the MacBook Air too. As we've said before, these entry level machines haven't been CPU-bottlenecked for many years. What's much more important is stuff like RAM.
Dude you don’t understand that… it means the iPad A14 and the iPad A16 might have very similar performances…

At some point they’ll have to bring a newer chip to this line so I don’t think that’s the reason. The A16 was just the more economical option. They have leftover chip stock and they use it in lower end devices. It’s mostly what forces these updates - the new chip becomes more economical or there’s no more stock of the older one
It also keeps the price low. I thought for sure they’d bump it by $100 for AI shenanigans. Nice to see them keep it as a good value product. For a lot of people the iPad is their only computer.

Yeh was very surprised with that, I thought they want Apple Intelligence on all devices.

No they want to muck everything up! iPad Pro with M3 chip is a disappointment as well. I thought they were getting ****** yields from that chip.

Nope.

For multi-core CPU loads, A16 5-core will still be a bit faster than A14 6-core.
However, for single-core CPU loads, A16 5-core is much faster than A14 6-core. Like 30% faster - no contest.

For most iPad workloads, single-core will have more impact on perceived performance than multi-core, but as mentioned, A16 5-core will still be a bit faster in multi-core anyway.

But as mentioned again and again, these machines are not CPU-bottlenecked anyway. Much more important for the iPad 11 is the doubling of base storage, and potentially a 50% increase in RAM (to be confirmed).

iPad Pro has M4.

I suppose you mean iPad Air, but it makes zero sense from a marketing perspective to put M4 in the iPad Air at this time. It doesn't need it anyway. In fact, iPad Pro doesn't need M4 either, since the main limitation is the OS.

I'm really considering "downgrading" from ipad air 3 to ipad 11, and even though I was expecting at least A17, I'm quite happy that they kept the price. I've written this once, but the display is not so bad compared to ipad 9. It is still not laminated, but the gap is much less than before. I prefer the keyboard folio more than the air version.

A bit yes… not a lot to make iPad A14 users to upgrade… And does it support stage manager and Final Cut Pro for iPad ?

No one who buys a base model iPad upgrades in a single generation though. That’s not Apple’s goal. If it happens I’m sure they love it, but they don’t expect it. My guess is they’re targeting 8th gen and earlier iPads, especially those with 32GB of storage.

Again, you've completely missed the point.

Why would anyone upgrade from an iPad 10 to iPad 11? That would be a total waste of money. The. iPad 11 is not aimed at iPad 10 owners. Just like the M4 MacBook Air isn't aimed at M3 MacBook Air owners. Or just like how the iPhone 16 Pro Max isn't aimed at iPhone 15 Pro Max owners.

In this house, we will be upgrading one user from an iPad Air 2 to the iPad 11.

Um apple should have make something much better since in 2.5 years there is not a lot of new things… A16, 128gb and Bluetooth 5.3

Double the storage (128 GB) and hopefully 50% more RAM (6 GB) with 30% faster single-core performance at the same price is great.

I'm very pleased, because I wasn't sure they would double the storage. I was thinking they might cheap out one more generation, and leave it at 64 GB.

This iPad could have been released 2.5 years ago !

Seriously, WTF are you on about?!? It's the entry level iPad, and the reality is they released it with A14 / 4 GB RAM / 64 GB base storage 2.5 years ago. This is now A16 and probably 6 GB RAM, with 128 GB storage. That's a significant improvement on all three fronts (assuming RAM is truly 6 GB).

It will only be a disappointment if it doesn't get 6 GB RAM.

If you want more than base iPad specs, then you should buy an iPad Air or an iPad Pro.
