The “waypoint” feature looks amazing for finding your way back if you’re lost and off the grid. Of course, they should also add this for the regular watch, as it looks like it is driven by GPS.

I wonder, could the regular watch see this feature next year? Apple could follow a pattern of adding new software features to the Ultra over an exclusive period (say, one year) and then subsequently add them to the regular watch.

Ugliest Watch ever.

Bring Jony back!
Looks better than most rugged watches. But I'm not rugged so I'm not paying like $1,200 CAD for it. Looking like I'll be rocking my S3 at least one more year. Doh! Need that flat display on the regular versions.

You know what, they did make good points about the design in aspect of durability. Flat screen less likely to break etc & those bands are pretty innovative. That said, it's BIG, maybe a wider rather than taller face would suit more wrists. And the huge battery life is nice. Now let's see how many folks bleed their wallet to get one & never take it outside of a cafe.

Curious for those that have a Garmin or other sports-dedicated watch, is the Ultra enough to switch or does Garmin still win the day for extreme athletes?

I am ordering this as soon as it is available as it will be so much better for my mountain biking and back country adventures.

This watch is made for athletes and outdoors people, not for looking swanky when you get a latte at the coffee shop.
