Agree. My Apple Watch 3, even in lo-power mode, could not last 4 hours. My AW7 that did will in a 1/2 marathon though. My wife, for starters.
She runs marathons. She has had an Apple watch die out before she has finished; when you use the heart rate tracking, music playback, etc 4 hours seems to be the limit.
Apple is marketing this to extreme sports folks, but plenty that just run will want this as well for the battery life alone.
2 years? Ha! My Timex automatic will run for 40 years (as long as I do).My Casio G-Shock has 2 years battery life.
Designed specially to waypoint the nearest Apple store to replace the whole stuff when you fell and the watch goes boom boom. The “waypoint” feature looks amazing for finding your way back if you’re lost and off the grid. Of course, they should also add this for the regular watch, as it looks like it is driven by GPS.
I wonder, could the regular watch see this feature in the future?
Starting at $799 - meaning there will be higher prices than this price.I say 799
Does it detect the fall or the crash?if you fall 900 ft off the cliff you can notify those near you.
Seriously Apple no sapphire crystal = not rugged!!
also, action button?? you mean lap button!!!
36 HOURS battery? Hahahhahahaha. My Garmin has 36 DAYS battery. Jesus what a joke
My Seiko 5 has forever power. 😜My Casio G-Shock has 2 years battery life.
Exactly. As expected no support for any other sensors that mtb riders might use. cant believe they overlooked the biking audience in favor of deep sea diving? Lol.Cool features, but is there really that large of a customer base that want an Apple Watch for deep sea diving or running across the Sahara? I’m obviously not the target — just wondering why they didn’t market toward more “attainable” adventure sports.
Interesting and probably useful for some, but what I need is a thin watch for dressier occasions, perhaps with some classic dress watch face designs. I'd be happy to omit cellular (don't we all normally have our phone with us when dressing up?) as well as some activity tracking functions to get maximum thinness.
Apple at its "Far Out" media event today announced the Apple Watch Ultra, a new fitness-focused smartwatch for athletes and explorers featuring an all-new design, a large flat display, an additional programmable Action button, and cellular as standard.

Wow such athlete, can’t imagine a world without athletes wearing the latest ultra Apple Watch.I am ordering this as soon as it is available as it will be so much better for my mountain biking and back country adventures.
This watch is made for athletes and outdoors people, not for looking swanky when you get a latte at the coffee shop.
