'Ultra'... 'Pro'... I get the impression Apple just picks one out of the hat. I mean seriously why not Apple Watch Pro or iPhone Ultra, it's quite literally interchangeable at this point.

So they will forever be non-rugged, even if they work to design and build a rugged product like this watch? I'm confused.

Well, let's see how sapphire their sapphire crystal is. Traditionally, less than stellar. Youtubers will be Mohs testing.

You guys keep the tradition alive. This never gets old.
Sorry I didn’t join the full on circle j.

They made basically no improvements in S8, reserving any for this “rugged” version, slapped it in titanium all so they could up charge to $800. And yes, it’s ugly to boot.

Nice watch, godawful bands. Hopefully there will be some third-party options.

How is that night mode feature supposed to work? Raise wrist, watch lights up and blinds you, then turn crown to dim?
why ever buy apple bands? Ya can put all the same nice third party ones on it

Agree. My Apple Watch 3, even in lo-power mode, could not last 4 hours. My AW7 that did will in a 1/2 marathon though
I think some people got a dud maybe? My series 3 lasted a 12 hour 40 run last Saturday. Battery ran out about 5 mins after I finished. GPS tracking the whole way.

"new action button in international orange..."
Apple has really just gotten so full of themselves
Our Miele appliances have all important buttons and parts coloured in a similar (maybe same) orange. Maybe there is a general consensus regarding this.

Ordered. How do I get to use maps and navigation while hiking (offline)?

(Have been on Garmin Fenix for the recent years where maps are built in. Recall that WorkOutDoors app was the best solution when I still had Apple Watch. Overall the experience of needing to always remember to load maps was slow and poor.)

Best Apple Watch App ever!

Cool features, but is there really that large of a customer base that want an Apple Watch for deep sea diving or running across the Sahara? I’m obviously not the target — just wondering why they didn’t market toward more “attainable” adventure sports.

There are a ton of people who are aspired to go deep sea diving or running across the Sahara. You do not buy a watch for doing it, you buy a watch for dreaming about it... (Yes, I am guilty as charged)

Ding ding! My thoughts exactly. Will probably work well for them, too.

I’m a keen runner but not interested in this. The standard watch is good enough and better looking for casual wear in my opinion. This cheaper than I expected it to be but still not competitive enough to tempt those on aluminium sports watches in huge numbers I wouldn’t have thought.

Gonna skip this watch. I'll keep skipping until WatchOS offers third-party watchfaces. Because I'm sure Apple will make this exclusive for the latest model only. Even when theirs no reason to.

Looks aside, 36 hours is not an adventure watch. 36 hours won’t do even for a simple overnight backpacking trip, let alone mountaineering expeditions as shown in the marketing video.
60 hours in low power mode, which sill has sensors enabled. We knew this wasn't going to match the Garmin Fenix or Coros Vertix of the world; they don't run a state of the art smartwatch platform requiring extra power.

Really wish they gave the gps on time though. Hoping for at least 16h, but it may be less.

People said the original Apple Watch was "ugly" at first. It took a while for it to grow on people.

These guys really dislike cyclists dont they. Never see any integration for power meters which would be a super nice additon. Its not really a 'rugged; watch for 'extreme sports' lol.. its to help bankers who already have an apple watch on one wrist and an Audemars Piquet on the other..
