I think the majority of people are forgetting that there are still multiple months before this is released to the public. Expect huge UI changes to colors and gradients before then, based off of feedback. I'm sure that Safari icon will look much different by release.

Slow your roll there professor. Nice comeback with something that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I wasn't saying that I like or dislike iOS7. I think they have made some polarizing design decisions and some nice new features for iOS, overall I am happy to see iOS finally get a refresh. I am not arrogant enough to call those who don't agree with me a troll, apparently you are.

Arrogant enough? More like not awake enough.

It is easy to identify both the paid trolls and the nothing-better-to-do-trolls that show up at these opportunities.

Not saying you are either. Simply stating the facts. These are not the same people that post here regularly.

And it was not I that chose to bring up the length of the post as having some relevance to the content.

Regardless of the truth in your post, first is still first in the eyes of the consumer. Whoever gets the new feature out first is an innovator. Everyone who follows is a copy cat, regardless of if its better implemented or not.

In the end, Apple comes across as lagging behind. Or playing catch up. :(

I think there are some consumers who feel that way and others who don't.

Hence, choices (Android, iOS, WP8, BB10 etc....).

Its hilarious how much people either want to see one become like the other or get pissed when this does/doesn't happen.

I do the same **** on my iPhone as I do my HTC One.....the implementations are different, but I'm not some super powered cyborg when I'm using my HTC One versus some child with my iPhone.....

My use cases dictate my phone preferences and uses.....its not the other way around.

For me, I generally prefer iOS - I think its cleaner, more familiar and like Apple's overall ecosystem - plus I'm more connected with my family and friends who all have iPhones. I prefer the features announced today, even though they are firsts, in an Apple package - with Apple's philosophy and design - because that's what I prefer.

It's not about individual features for me (or for Apple) - which is why I'm an iOS guy. This isn't true of everyone and I completely respect that.

This isn't "Android Jelly Bean stuff"......these are logical tasks/features implemented in different ways by two different OSes on their own update/design timetables.

Apple seems to implement and design as if they are the only tech company out there. It doesn't matter what another company has done.

This obsession with being "first" is really overdone....

while i agree with you on that it's silly to argue over such petty things like a phone's brand.. it's only fair to point out things android has done first considering the many here that claim android has not innovated anything or influenced apple. but i'm sure many here will still deny that apple has borrowed ideas from android.. or other os.

And...its ugly. Flat is a trendy word for ugly apparently. We have a gamut of colors and other effects that convey information, but the design Gods have decided what we really want is a lack of information and just bland screens that look like they were developed by Soviet engineers for maximum blandess.

I will repeat what I have said before, the hatred of skeumorphism is an inter-design war that is being fought between a couple of design nerds. It contributes nothing and takes away nothing from the utility of apps, some design nerds just think its gross. So, when they got in charge they go so far away from it that they move into bland land.

Completely agree with you. I'm old enough to have watched the whole personal computer thing since the 80's. I've seen flat, boring UI and I want all the friggin' eye candy we can get out of modern hardware. I think the update should have had icons that look immersive and almost 3D as if they were floating over the top. They didn't need to look like wood and leather, but for crap's sake, the flat, minimalistic bs is just that...bs.

Color me pissed over this UI. I'm ot a troll either, I'm heavily invested in Apple's products and their stock.

I'm hoping they drop those dots that represent cellular strength. I like the bars better. Other than that, I love the new look!

I am quoting: "unbelievably awesome"
"absolutely stunning"

It is plain and flat with lots of black & white. Please explain how this is unbelievable or stunning?

I'm not sure if I like it or not. I really have no opinion at this point but I am curious as to why so many are so taken with it?

so if i have a US iTunes account subscribed to iTunes Match i will be able to use iRadio? or will it check my IP .. (im in germany)
That is a good question. I would think that if you are able to access your US account it just might work.

Personally, I prefer said features on an Apple device, in iOS - so I wait for Apple to give me their interpretation/implementation. If I don't like Apple's interpretation/timetable, I move to something else.

Its hilarious how many people seemingly cling to new releases, claiming "iOS # better impress me or I'm gone" or "I'll switch back to iOS if I get x, x, and x."

Be honest with yourself, you don't like iOS - move on. We have many wonderful options in the mobile tech industry!

So what you're saying is when Apple copies a feature, it's ok because they design like they're the only tech company in the world. But when another company copies an Apple feature, Apple brings out their lawyers because they gotta protect themselves. Funny.

Couple ways in which Apple made real gains over their competitors:

-iCloud keychain: I am frequently clearing history and deleting cookies on my iOS devices. Having iCloud remember usernames & passwords are HUGE.

-The security of requiring your Apple ID to wipe a stolen iPhone, or even turn off Find My iPhone. This is also huge. I wouldn't be surprised to see iPhone thefts take a major dip.

Many well done ideas shown to us today, sprinkled with a couple meh's.

Overall, Apple delivered. One of the best Apple presentations in years.

John Gruber on Daring Fireball yesterday: "Whatever has changed in iOS 7, has changed for reasons other than fashion, or difference for the sake of difference."

Not so sure. To me it seems like Apple by following the latest UI design trends gave us what we thought we wanted, rather than what we didn't know we needed.

I agree to the overall idea of losing the skeumorphism, but this implementation does not embody the philosophy the videos in the keynote talked about – working for perfection and simplicity.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You've seen glimpses, and haven't even touched it...or had even a moment to actually appreciate it.

What arrogance!

I'm indifferent to the styling change. It's just staying fresh, I can appreciate that. I had my hopes up for a keyboard update. That's the biggest pain point when I switch back and forth between Android and iOS. Glad to see call blocking at least, that was an annoyance. The day I can get SwiftKey, and a larger screen option on an iPhone, is the day I switch back to iPhone.
