Icon designs suck, and what is that black on white theme for god's sake... I hope we can change it or at least make it white on black theme. Loved the new optimizations on the software though. Some stuff absolutely taken from android, noone can deny that. I see a lot of trials incoming, here we go again..

It was a rumor, didn't have to come true

Sorry. I know i should respect people's opinions but if you don't think ios7 looks great then you're crazy...

I didn't want to love it and then I watched the commercial on youtube with Johnny Ives soothing voice and penetrating eyes. I think I have been hypnotized by him, because now I love it. Damn he is good.

"New interface design"

Blah. Serious negative to keep changing the interface.

Some of the other stuff is useful improved functionality and that is good. What Apple really needs to add is cross OS and legacy support all the way back to Classic. We need to be able to use our Apps/Applications and data on any device no matter it be a iDevice or a Macintosh. I have real work to do. Managing two different OS's (MacOS/iOS) is a waste. I just want to be able to use my tools on my data. The computer is a work bench.

Kind of like before Apple limited it to iTunes ...

Go all the way bak, and bring back "target Disk mode" feature you can stick ant thing on (like on the old iPod Classic's "Click-weel",) but keep the solid sate in iphone.

i love the life trolls lead. they come to this site, trying to convince everyone (or themselves) that apple is doomed. some prolly even get paid my samsung. oh yea...and i know many of them by name already :D
for them, its an awful iOS update. thanks, we get it. now go away and update your pathetic OS please. be happy with yours. dont spoil the fun of others who doesnt want to follow you.
for others, it maybe good or it maybe bad. lets enjoy and be happy with whatever we have :)

i knew apple wont disappoint me, apple should have added these useful features a long time ago. i have to say the UI looks awesome, the new look and features make iOS the best platform again, i guess these improvements would be enough to shut all those apple haters.

I think iOS 7 can be easily summed up - when you statistically take out the extremes (the "it's perfect amazement, Ive for God!" Fanboys and "It copied it all from Android, piece of crap!" haters) you're left with the rational 80% or so of people who will think -

1: Love the new functionality, a great improvement.

2: Hate the stupid, ill-proportioned, pre-school graphic icons.

The End.

New fonts and redesigned icons. Same core...

Kinda disappointed.

You're kidding, right? It's a lot more than just a bit of new window dressing. Did you watch the keynote? Yes, the icons have changed and there is a new, thinner Helvetica font. But the whole interface has been fairly dramatically changed as well, and for the better in my opinion. It looks to be not only aesthetically more streamlined, but also streamlined from a usability standpoint as well.

I'm not sure what you were expecting, but I'm very pleased with what I saw and can't wait for it to be released.

It appears we have gone android :( and in doing so lost all taste in design (look at those awful app icons  ) goodbye :apple:

Lost all taste in design? Do you mean like this...

Cheerio! I hope you enjoyed your visit to iOS :)

iOS7 = Windows Phone + Android = Awesome! Therefore, Derek I don't know why you are having a "big deal no innovations" attitude - these new features are still massively important features that were only once available via jailbreak but now anyone with modern hardware can have it and its completely legal and Apple supported! This is not a bad thing!

The new flat icons were something that I didn't take to initially but they are slowly growing on me and they will for 90% of people I am sure. The camera could have used some more features for power users and maybe even provide some green-screening for videos like what we had on iChat (or at least nab a few android features such as dual camera mode but actually make it slick and polished), but I'm loving the built-in filters feature - this will get used a LOT by iPhone users, unlike some of the gimmicks introduced on Android.

For me, the biggest wow was the new Mac Pro. I am going to start saving up for one because it is going to cost an arm and a leg (and maybe even a kidney).

I didnt mean to imply that this wasnt maybe a step up from iOS 6.1.2. I was mainly responding in reference to the previous poster's mention about how much innovation Apple had put into the new iOS 7. While I'm sure it required a great dead of rewriting software code, I just didnt see a whole lot of innovations. Mostly copying stuff, some almost directly, from other OS's and from jailbreak tweaks already in Cydia. And also, my opinion of the icons. I really dont like them. I do like the new "control center". I have it in my phone already with SBSettings. The multitasking manager, I have that with Auxo. The multiple pages of icons in folder is available with infinitefolder tweak (I dont run that one). I had the "new" lockscreen on my AT&T Captivate with TouchWiz about 3 years ago. I think the new lock screen is a blatant ripoff and could open Apple up to more lawsuits from Samsung, its that much of a copy (in my opinion, please check it out for yourself). The "new" weather app is a direct copy (right down to the font) of the existing Yahoo weather app.

Maybe we've reached a point in the mobile realm where there is nothing left to invent, just regurgitate what's been used by others. But, I saw little to no innovation at all in this "new" iOS 7.

Love the new security features too. Making stealing an iOS device totally useless.

In case of emergency ICE numbers

Could someone who has access to iOS 7 confirm or deny that it allows to call 'ICE (in case of emergency)' numbers without logging in?!

Would be awesome in case you drop dead on the floor (or a bit less worrysome, you fall) that someone can actually call the one that is important to you.

What did Google copy from Apple exactly?
The "Sooner" (BB style) and "Dream" (touch screen) Android devices were developed at the same time.
Both were in development before anyone knew what an iPhone was.

Eric Schmidt knew.

Until there is something truly innovative, each company will try to achieve the most optimal and version of each feature currently available (and truthfully, there is only one optimal version of each feature). That means that given enough time (and with no new innovations to throw into the mix), each company's release will look more and more similar to everyone else's.

I don't think there is only one optimal version of each feature.....too many different people with varying preferences and uses for that to be the case....

Not to mention, as I've said, its not about individual features but about the package as a whole IMO.

Hummm.... I don't get all the negative comments??? Some complain when Apple does nothing and then they complain when they do something.

Should just change the name of the site to MacComplainers.

BTW... I think the new OS is bold, but I also think it will be awesome when it's out. Things have to progress.

And don't forget... for developers, iOS7 works on a ton of devices old and new. This is a HUGE advantage. Good on Apple for keeping it compatible with iPhone 4 and the iPad 2.
