why didnt nobody comment on the mocking they made about skeumorphs in previous version. Lets be honest, as fun as it sounds that they were making fun out of Forstall, they were actually making fun out of Jobs's also. He was the one who approved that style and now 2 years after his death they start making fun out of it? Stay classy Apple.

Yes I thought that was a bit tacky too, though I think it was only directed towards Forstall.

Agreed. It didn't seem to be bad design for several years. Not only that - the "realism" that the graphics had were one of the defining/often talked about design elements when using the iPhone.

I am sure that in a couple of years (it's already starting in this thread) people will thumb their nose at such a thing.

Does anyone else find it interesting that the black iPhone is almost nowhere to be found in any of the IOS7 stuff? It appears for maybe 3 seconds in the video but can't find it anywhere else. It probably doesn't mean anything.

Strangely comforting... I want to believe.

Which version of android though? The biggest android user base is using a three plus year old OS. As soon as ios7 is launched apple will have more people using these features than android users due to horrific fragmentation on android

I guess you really don't read a single thing that has been written in response to this parroted mantra. Give it a rest.... Tim is not gonna pay you a dime for your effort.

true. I remember when iphone 4 came out and every reviewer started using magnifying glass to show just how detailed the flower on Photos icon is. Not a very important thing but it was interesting.

If you have the dictionary.com app on your phone look up the word hypocritical than try to explain how that tied into what you are saying.

Hmm, lets see Mr. Pretentious...

Hypocrite: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

Hypocritical: 1. Characterized by hypocrisy

So Apple coming out publicly against jailbreaking but secretly benefitting from and implementing its most popular jailbreak tweaks into its iOS software is what then, Mr. Linguistics?

this is what a lot of people who haven't really used android as their daily say.. this whole fragmentation thing.. not a problem.. i use both platforms.. the thing with android is.. you can update parts of it individually, while with ios.. you have to wait for the new version of ios for things like, say siri, to be updated.. with android, you can just update google now by itself without needing to upgrade to the latest.. unless of course you still have a 3 year old phone.. but that's the same case with apple.

all you have to do is CHANGE THE DAMN WALLPAPER... pastels will be gone.

seriously..
its a damn wallpaper.

Not true. Icons are still ugly, regardless wallpaper. And what's with transparent notification and command center? Shouldn't these be for information purposes thus perfectly readable?
I don't understand Apple anymore. :-/

I'll wait to see the final version on my iPhone, but the photos make it look like a child's toy. I find it hard to believe Jony Ive was responsible for this. I hope there is an option to change that hideous background colour and tone down the whole thing, otherwise I'll need sunglasses.

Oh please, if you're going to dis something at least do it honestly. My battery has been drained by misbehaving apps exactly 0 times, hardly innumerable is it?

As for IOS7 I'm glad to see it implementing some Android / Windows phone style features, about time these features were available to Apple users.

Where did I say "your" phone, exactly? No need to get so defensive.

I'd imagine you're also someone who tweaks his phone to make sure everything "works." My neighbor is an average guy who just installs the occasional apps and doesn't know what rooting is. For him, that's a problem since Android begs to be messed with.

I was not impressed. I honestly do not like it and was expecting something else. First of all the design of iOS 7 is completely different than OSX. The interface the icons, just about everything is absolutely different and I do not like this at all.

I was expecting it to become more flat elegant and similar to OSX, to have more silver/grey colours etc. But instead we get something a la windows vista aero style.

I though they said it will be flat and simple with no shine. Well the icons couldn't be any simpler I agree about that but everything else is way more flashier shinier and more candy like than the previous versions!!!

My wife doesn't "mess" with is phones and she has not have any battery drain never

Sad times for Apple

Did anybody but me witness all the jibes that Apple Execs took at the old IOS and how the icons and apps appeared? This was the IOS that was admired and approved by Steve Jobs himself and now they are all turning on him. How sad!!!

Also, no new releases from Apple until the FAll!!! Thats four months away. When did this ever happen in the past? The new IOS and MacPro should have been released yesterday as thats how Apple worked in the past. Now the competition has four months to continue to WOW its growing audiences.

since Android begs to be messed with.

Oh really now? I know several people who run Android "as is" without messing with it.

The over-generalization about iOS and Android really need to stop. People sound very ignorant when they write about something where they have no facts or experience.

It's one thing to ask a question or state an individual use case/scenario. It's another to make a statement as if it were fact - and ubiquitous.

It's not over-simplification. Have a chat with those people and see how they feel about their phones. Of course we're generalizing here, but there's no doubt in my mind that Apple offers the better, smoother user experience.

Here's what history has taught us.

People will either love it. Or they will not love it so much. But over time, they will adjust and either they will love it so much they become an advocate for the changes or most will just be ok with it. There will be those that might always hate it - but they will either be very vocal or move on to something else to comment on. Some may even be inclined to change OSes.

It's always "loudest" at the beginning. Then the clamor dies down.

I think for the general public they'll embrace it rather quickly and like everything to them any issues as being discussed in this thread is non-issue. This forum as we know it isn't an example of the typical Apple customer and contributes an extremely small percentage of their customer base.

Its rather different, I would have to see it in person but I'm pretty confident its going to be a hit, just like when no one really liked the iPad very much!

The last iOS major upgrade wasn't released until September last year.

This is a developers conference, and you wouldn't want to release a major overhaul without giving the developers of existing apps a chance to test there apps with the iOS7.

I wouldn't say android begs to be messed with. Contrary to what some android users would have you believe they're no smarter then anyone else, although they love to think they are and it's good for a laugh as they try to convince you.

Android users mostly don't mess with their phones, but yes battery life is a problem on android unless you have a 3500maH battery which oems are putting in their phones.

Ignore the people who say it's not. Just as you should ignore anyone who says ios is perfect. Those people are lying.

It is.

I have talked about it. I own both an iPhone and Android. I haven't tweaked my android any more/less than I have my iPhone.

My wife has an Android now (having had iPhones) and hasn't tweaked her phone at all.

Several other people I know haven't tweaked. They all love their phones. love the big screen. Love the apps they use.

I know it might be hard to digest. But people do actually enjoy Android and what other phones have to offer. It's crazy - I know

To YOU and YOUR use case - Apple provides the better experience. I think you're confusing the word you with everyone ;)

Scarily - I agree with you. Let's hope this doesn't happen too often ;)

I like everything about iOS 7, even the icons. I just hope the appstore catches up to the new design. I tried themeing a few last night in iFunBox, but everytime I tried to replace the Icon@2x.png in the Facebook.app, it would act like it replaced it but the image would be the same. Anybody know a work-around for this?

I hate how locked down apple keeps their software. It's silly IMO.
