Not seeing any reason to upgrade from my 11 Pro Max apart from the squared off sides. 5G coverage is woeful in the UK and that’s not likely to change anytime soon so I’m gonna hold off till the next iPhone and potentially pick up an Apple Silicon Mac this year instead.

With all the added camera features in the pro model you’d think Apple would put 4K at 120fps like the competition (except google) but nope, a hard pass

Looking forward to a low-light comparison photo between the 12 and 12Pro. How big of a difference is the Lidar going to make?

I’m really confused here, does the 12 Pro Max have a better Wide sensor than the 12 Pro? If so that’s a big **** up for Apple, not everyone wants a giant ****ing phone!

But for those that do .....

No Touch ID for when you don’t wear masks, and 5G, for when you go to crowded stadiums: Apple has created the perfect phone for those wonderful rallies held nowadays.

More like they made a phone for when this pandemic is over.

Why would you want to upgrade from last year's phone? Not much is going to change. Now, if you're two and a half years behind then this is the perfect upgrade.

Oh, that blue is pretty and the return to the iPhone 4 form factor is enticing, but given the uncertainty of 5G coverage (not holding my breath that AT&T will get it together this year, considering NYC still has major LTE coverage gaps) and the lack of a 1TB option for the Pro Max, I'm going to sit out a cycle and see what the 13 has to offer.

No ProMotion display on the Pro model is a dealbreaker for me. I probably will swap the battery (currently 88%) of my iPhone XS Max someday and go for another year. It is still an amazing iPhone.
This is the first time I skip the 2 years cycle though. Now I don't have to sell my kidney to buy the new iPhone and Playstation 5 this year. Phew..

I wasn’t able to determine if there was a difference in camera systems between the Pro and Pro Max

What exactly are you going to do with 4K 120FPS? It’s not a common FPS to shoot at on the daily, yeah it’s useful for slowmotion in post but who really does that a lot?

So night mode is on all cameras not just telephoto now right?
same with deep fusion? (Be nice if deep fusion will now work with out having to turn off the capture “outside frame” option.

I noticed no mention of 120 FPS or 240 FPS 4K
no changes to slow motion
no changes to Face ID (mainly angles)
no mention of the rumoured extra hour of battery life
no reverse charging for AirPods
Obviously no 120hz
The cable is not braided like rumoured

overall I much prefer the new design, there’s a lot of improvements (which I can’t wait for them to come to a new iPad) and I’ll get the pro max, but seems next year might be the worthy upgrade -

What is the cutout below the sleep/wake button? The sim tray is clearly on the side with the volume, but there’s clearly something below the power button on the other side. I didn’t hear it mentioned.

believe it has to do with 5g

That graphic had SE/Xr/11/12/12 Pro.
I'm guessing iPhone 11 Pro getting discontinued in the same way Apple Watch 4 was? Too similar to the brand new shiny one?

I missed most of the event. Did the notch dimension change any on the pro models or still same as 11 pro ?

As a photographer, I am tempted by the camera upgrades.... however, I think I am going to keep my iphone 11 pro max for now. I wish they added 120hz refresh rate as well as the ability to use the Apple Pencil on the screen. Or come out with a mini Apple pencil for the new flat edged design of the iphone 12 pro. That would have been cool as a doodler & note taker. But we can’t have everything. I still have a month to think about it, but I am leaning towards holding onto my iphone 11 pro max until the iPhone 13 comes out.
