They couldn't have made the new iPhone 12 Pro a TOUCH lighter or heavier?

For reference, last year's 11pro was 188grams or a about .4 lbs. This year the 12 pro is 189 grams or .417lbs. The 12 is much lighter at 164grams or .362lbs at the same exact dimensions.

So the 6.1 Pro has a stainless steel band, a telephoto lens and Lidar sensor for (probably) an extra $200. Really doesn’t seem worth it to me now that the regular 12 has OLED.

I believe the 12/12 Mini base storage is 64GB while the two Pro models start with 128GB, so that $200 includes a decent little storage bump as well. :)

Whenever I unlock my iPhone with a passcode and a face mask, I imagine Tim & Co. doing the same with their phones. Only, they sure have a longer password than me. This helps calm down my rage due to these now unusable phones, this year in new colors.

Not seeing any reason to upgrade from my 11 Pro Max apart from the squared off sides. 5G coverage is woeful in the UK and that’s not likely to change anytime soon so I’m gonna hold off till the next iPhone and potentially pick up an Apple Silicon Mac this year instead.

And they mentioned mmWave is only for the US market. Just checked the UK tech specs and yes only Sub 6Ghz :(

“New feature that gives control of shooting in RAW with the power of our computational photography. Apple ProRAW. Coming in iPhone Camera app for iPhone 12 Pro later this year.”

Does this mean the stock Camera app will finally be able to shoot raw? While still for example making use of the optical image stabilizer? Previously, you could only shoot raw with third party apps and, then, the optical image stabilizer was, for some reason, NOT used, making it pretty much useless in all situations where a comparatively slow shutter speed was needed - that is, in low(er) light.

im disappointed here in Canada also

but... literally 2 cities have basic 5g so it would be useless battery drain likely anyways so... ehhh

Did Apple actually say they don’t need 120Hz?

‘no, and it will be here next year. If we didn’t ‘need it’ it wouldn’t ever be in the iPad

I really can’t decide between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro. I love taking pictures (lots of pictures) but I am not a high tech editor or videographer. I just want beautiful pictures of my family, kids, vacations etc. Should I spring for the pro or just get the 12?

Really disappointed that Apple still has not mastered reverse charging, no lay flat Face ID and 120 refresh rates. I think Apple screwed up by showing the 12 first because it just highlighted how little you get in the 6.1" 12 Pro

I don’t get the big deal over this. I have it in my iPad Pro and I honestly don’t notice it.

I agree. I am trying to decide whether I want to spend the extra money for the "Pro" version. The only real reason I get the Pro though, is for the screen size.

If you look at the specs on Apple.com, it shows the 12 pro max having 5x zoom, and the 12 pro having 4x zoom, over last years 2x. So both models have more optical zoom this year. The differences in cameras specs is 100% a space thing, and not Apple being cheap 🙄

From apple.com/iphone tech specs

  • 2x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 4x optical zoom range (iPhone 12 Pro)
  • Digital zoom up to 10x (iPhone 12 Pro)
  • 2.5x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out; 5x optical zoom range (iPhone 12 Pro Max)
  • Digital zoom up to 12x (iPhone 12 Pro Max)

I was hoping for TouchID... like in the iPad.
Using a FaceID only iPhone in these COVID times is the worst user experience in almost a decade. Having to put in my secure multi digit, letter and symbol password over and over again throughout the day is a pain in the a**. FaceID is of no use with masks. Why is it in the iPad and not in the phone?
I'm seriously considering going Android for my work phone for the sake of touchID alone! Huge time saver and less of an annoyance. Enough for messaging, emailing etc., don't have to love the rest of the OS!
Sorry Apple, another pass! iPhone X goes another year. And if next years update is lacklustre again, I'll consider my options.

No mention of battery life? Hmmm
I compared specs just now for iPhone 11 Pro Max & iPhone 12 Pro Max; they’re identical so after that glorious surprise last year of +4/+5 hours vs XS Max it looks as if Apple is back to its old self, any efficiency savings being eaten up by making the phones thinner. Personally I’m pretty disappointed that they didn’t deliver any gains at all. Apple never delivers a new phone with 0% performance increase vs the previous model so why is it OK with 0% battery life gains?
