What is the cutout below the sleep/wake button? The sim tray is clearly on the side with the volume, but there’s something below the power button on the other side. I didn’t hear it mentioned.

That was a waste of time reading the description. Thankfully didn’t watch presentation. Hard pass on this. 11 months til iphone 13. This is the super cycle analysts keep talking about? Don’t see it. 5g is a joke.

12 Pro might not be as bad as I was thinking of it really is that close in size compared to the 11 Pro. I’ll take the bigger screen if it’s about the same size. That’s the only reason I went from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone X.

There might not be many reasons or a huge reason for people in my situation to upgrade, but I likely will for the redesign and the slightly larger screen. As soon as I saw the flat edge design, I immediately could feel my iPhone 5s in hand again. I could go for the cheaper 12, but I can’t give up that telephoto lens. It’s too damn handy. I’m a little irked that it seems like the Pro Max camera is getting a couple of extra features that the Pro won’t (really hate it when they do that). Lidar sounds interesting too, especially if the autofocus and night mode performance is drastically improved like they’re claiming. I’ve also gotten too used to the feel of the stainless steel to go back to aluminum. I don’t use cases on my phone so I feel the material every day.

So let me get this straight:

No word about faster FaceID, not even to mention that it's the same size FaceID notch for the same 4 years now.
No word on the battery life and any improvements due to the new A14? Really curious if they can match last years battery life, if they didn't mention the battery sizes and life with one word.
No USB-C
No charging brick
No ProMotion / high refresh display

So what's the reason to go Pro? Some fancy new cameras (which seem really impressive, but only for Pro's who know how to utilize these cameras), some LiDAR scanner and the totally new 5G technology which is widely available around the globe. That's it?

Really disappointed in these new releases and I'd totally switch to android, if Apple wouldn't be this good in the whole software integration, ecosystem and privacy thing.

Maybe I should consider giving my iPhone X another year...

This is what I was saying.. a new random pad under the power button on all 4 iPhones and they didn't even mention it... lol

They are even trying not to show it at all on the promotional pictures on the website...

What exactly are you going to do with 4K 120FPS? It’s not a common FPS to shoot at on the daily, yeah it’s useful for slowmotion in post but who really does that a lot?

I understand what your saying but then 6S got 4K when 4K was in its infancy,

but I think 4K TVs at 120fps are starting to be slowly but surely be more accessible than ever. And PS5/XSX Supporting that of course

As a photographer, I am tempted by the camera upgrades.... however, I think I am going to keep my iphone 11 pro max for now. I wish they added 120hz refresh rate as well as the ability to use the Apple Pencil on the screen. Or come out with a mini Apple pencil for the new flat edged design of the iphone 12 pro. That would have been cool as a doodler & note taker. But we can’t have everything. I still have a month to think about it, but I am leaning towards holding onto my iphone 11 pro max until the iPhone 13 comes out.

As most rumors appeared true I likely to keep my iPhone 11 Pro Max as well. Camera improvements almost got me but I think I may way for next year. 5G nah, in our area not available for me with major carriers I am not in major urban area that 5G if I were willing to pay for it are available. We are in small 140K University of Illinois area and my area of town has even poor 1-2 bars LTE for both Verizon and AT&T. So I generally use my Wifi with my phone. I do wonder if the modem and the antenna might still make for major improvements of my LTE experience at my house but no way to test before I would buy. Probably will wait and keep my 11 Pro Max as a spare when I do the 13 line next fall.

I think the Refresh Rate is mix up here.

Broadcast/streaming is done at 4k 23.976fps to 29.97fps depending.

In the gaming world, having anything below 120-240fps is considered slow, but those are two different mediums.

A TV with 60Hz-144Hz will look crisp but filming at 4k/120 would only be useful for slow-motion playback.

Lol, by then we call all buy iPhone 13s or 14s

Sad but so VERY true.

Coming from the iPhone X...... I am not sure if I'll upgrade. The cameras will definitely be extremely better than the X from those sample photos showed, but I was hoping for 120hz like everyone else. Only feature to make this the "complete" iPhone, like the X in 2017.
