Anyone know how the purchase of iPhone will go with people with "new iphone every year" program? can we order online?

7+ 128GB glossy black looks tempting, just need to see what kind of upgrade offers become available. No way I can pay $800 out of pocket for one. The only thing disappointing to me was no mention of high definition audio support, no audio quality improvement with the switch to digital?
This is the same for me. I am saving now for next year's phone. With the trade in guessed at $200 for a 6+ I need to save about $10 a week and I'll have it. A simple payroll deduction from the part time job=little to no pain in the pocketbook.

So what do you think the real story is?

Did they think they could go from a 2 year to 3 year design life, or was the real iPhone 7 going to be too late to market so they needed this stop gap?

There were technical issues but since next year is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone they'll almost certainly do the bigger overhaul then. There's nothing wrong with the current form factor and design. The tweaks for the iPhone 7 are great.

Yeah, courage would be dumping the lighting connector and adopting usb C like everyone else. They are the biggest cowards going. Especially giving us another year of big fat bezels!

Yeah!!!! Hahaha!! Sweeties, don't even get me started on the BIG FAT Bezels, oh no you didn't!

This girl is all bothered and not in a hot way. I'm bothered. Apple has so much going for it but that bezel is still such an eye sore. Their display is fantastic and that matte-black will def make the images POP.

All that mastery in engineering the parts and they couldn't slim down the bezels too? On all their devices, they are all so fat still, ick!

I LOVE YOU ALL. Skip this gentle update, let's all wait.

I have to say it's not that disappointing. Mainly due to the depth of field feature (thanks gods they did it!) and I see where they are moving with Lightning. Maybe they could push it to become a new standard for headphones, but it seems to be a bit too late since others are moving to USB-C...

Agreed... in less than a year you'll wonder why it took so long. I think it's very logical and good to see Apple make this change. Should be better all around.

Not being able to charge while listening over headphones or via auxiliary cable to car stereo, amplifier or hifi system will be a big deal for a lot of people.

Ive just got up, cant find a pic of the front. I assumed it will look identical to the 6 series? Or doesnt it?
Only difference being the removal of one antenna line and the larger camera cutout on the 7+, but other than that, still the same tasteless slab of metal.

The upcoming shallow depth of field effect....Apple says it recognizes faces and blurs the background...but can you get the effect when NOT shooting faces? Will the iphone recognize foreground objects that aren't human?

Buy them some legos....
Have those. Like it or not, electronic gadgets are part of life now. Plenty of times were we might want to see something, or even play some audio for all of us to hear. For example, FaceTime with a relative while we are on the go. Clearly, you know nothing about having kids these days.

People will always need the 3.5mm jack for many reasons. There's just way too many legacy devices and wireless just isn't an option for musicians and audiophiles. This isn't the floppy disk; the 3.5mm has been in use since the 1960s and the older 1/4" jack which people still use for audio applications has been around since the 1800s. You just cannot get the same audio fidelity with wireless. Some people still use Ethernet over Wifi after all

Why would you upgrade from a 6s to this? As a 6s owner, I have no interest whatsoever upgrading. It's the same phone design with a slightly upgraded processor.

The best thing about the new iPhone 7 is that the 2nd hand market for a 2 year old iphone 6 must be sky rocketing. Because the iPhone 6 is only marginally less than a 7.

Yeah, we needed more room for the extra speaker, so people could have "Stereo".

When was the last time you saw someone use their iPhone as a boombox?

the last time i saw someone use their iPhone speaker to listen to audio. that would be this morning. maybe right now as i type this. so ridiculous.

i have probably $1000 of conventional headphones and earbuds (from apple in ears to audio technica monitors, nuforce x 2, beats x 3, jlabs x 2, sennheiser, sony, koss, and cutting the jack doesn't upset me given the included adaptor and the promising future that their wireless tech offers so for other people with a couple pairs of headphones to be so outraged is ridiculous.

I wonder if the new Apple earbuds will be any better? They've always been the worst, with no ability to seal out surrounding noise or generate any bass. They just kinda sit in your ear and put out ******, tinny sound. A pair of $8 earbuds with silicone adapters from Skullcandy etc are far superior (even tho in general not amazing compared to other more pricey options). I'm surprised that Apple skimps on this and makes such piss poor earbuds given that it's a critical part of the iPhone experience.

Much more often than I use 3.5 headphones

Obviously the minority of users couldn't care less about great audio experience, with a response like that. The audio coming out of iPhones after the 4S are utterly inferior! Over priced phones with inferior speakers, I can't even use them for speakerphone they suck so bad.
