What is the problem?

They are providing you an adapter free of charge. And they're moving into the fully digital world.

To me it sounds like a win-win.

I tell you what the problem is. It needs to be something to wine about every year. Otherwise it's pointless!

I can see an SNL skit of somebody taking some standard Earpods, snipping the ends off with a pair of scissors, and walking around with them to impress people. These aren't exactly the best looking product Apple has ever created and look a little bit dorky. :p

tbh, they look like ****. file it together with that ugly battery case.

Why do you think it had to happen? And why do you think Apple couldn't have included lightning audio alongside the 3.5mm jack?

Agreed. What's so "courageous" about this?
iPhone 6S: can use wireless OR wired
iphone 7: use wireless or use an adapter for wired

One sounds strictly worse than the other...

I'm through spending over $800 on a phone, and they even had the guts to raise their already inflated prices on the 7 Plus!? You know what would truly signify 'courage', Apple? Making your pricing more competitive.
No one raised prices, they're the same. Only Jet Black is lacking 32GB option. 128GB storage costs the same as 64GB on 6S(+).

this is from the apple website:
The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodisation and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodised Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

The Samsung phones are water proof and still have the headphone jack, so this argument is mute. The rest I can understand.
Basically I cannot say that I was impressed.
I was impressed by the prices though. The iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB costs 1119 Euro here in Germany..
Apple increased the price and delivered the same design (with refinements), but improved some important features on the phone, like its cameras and the stereo sound speakers.
HTC users (I know there are not a lot of them out there), would tell you something about BoomSound...
I think I will pass Apple. I prefer my HTC 10 with Android. iOS 10 is also an issue here. It is great for normal consumers, but lacks the power of customization Android offers.

The iPhone 7 is certainly a great product, but its price is really not justified.
resistant not proof.

Just noticed that they increased the price in Europe of the base iPhone by 20€. Its not much, but they increase the price every year...

And people keep buying it in their millions. If I was Apple, I'd be doing exactly the same. If people keep buying it faster than you can make it, put up the price.

Missing "usual feature" is not only great way for huge company to push the boundary, I think its one of the greatest way to make people talk about the product.. Missing headphone jack is a twist to many people and it will be great for marketing/publicity... Just my thoughts.

You mean the $20 earbuds that now cost $160 for the privilege of reducing audio quality for the lack of wires?

Oh my goodness.

They are no wires, at all. Of course you're going to pay a bit for them. Bragi's first product were £299, their second product is a bit less than the AirPods.

If you don't like the price, fine, don't go complaining about it.

People will always need the 3.5mm jack for many reasons. There's just way too many legacy devices and wireless just isn't an option for musicians and audiophiles. This isn't the floppy disk; the 3.5mm has been in use since the 1960s and the older 1/4" jack which people still use for audio applications has been around since the 1800s. You just cannot get the same audio fidelity with wireless. Some people still use Ethernet over Wifi after all

Good thing they include an adapter then.

And when you say "people will always need..." you sound like you are generalizing, but then you go into addressing musicians and audiophiles specifically. So which is it?

Have those. Like it or not, electronic gadgets are part of life now. Plenty of times were we might want to see something, or even play some audio for all of us to hear. For example, FaceTime with a relative while we are on the go. Clearly, you know nothing about having kids these days.

Oh, my wife and I sure do. We live adjacent to a national park, the school they attend is big on reducing gadget time, we are big on reducing gadget time and their friends are big on reducing gadget time. They are tactile, articulate, and have no interest in video games.

Sorry, not everyone lives like a lemming.
