So even if you pick "pay in full," and it says "unlocked," it's not technically unlocked b/c you had to choose a carrier?

It's a boring, yet sufficient update. I'll probably buy it, as my iPhone6 is really slow. Seriously, I've never experienced "sluggishness" berfore i6.
I was looking at the accessories, and while I know its overdoing it, there is a way to listen to old 3,5 mm headphones while charging... The iPhone dock!

I know. But i'd rather carry that around than the adapter. Unless AirPods convince me.

Oh my goodness.

They are no wires, at all. Of course you're going to pay a bit for them. Bragi's first product were £299, their second product is a bit less than the AirPods.

If you don't like the price, fine, don't go complaining about it.
A bit is an understatement. Again, the value of the earbuds increased by five times because they got rid of some cable, which reduces the audio quality and makes you lose them.

But good on Apple. Now they can continue spout that they want a wireless future when wireless charging has been a technology used in multitude of devices for years.

I am getting so fed up with the Apple hypobole and lack of real innovation. Today was so underwhelming. Anyone else considering jumping ship to Android?
Already did. From 6s to S7 edge a month ago. Not seeing myself with an iPhone any soon. Loving my Mac though, there's nothing like Apple's computers.

I don't understand the upgrade program. It costs £33.45/m here in the UK and it says that's based on £718 over 20 months 0% p.a. But the iPhone 7 costs £599. Where are they getting £718 from? It says 0% p.a so is it possible the punishment for paying in instalments is an inflated price?

With everybody complaining about the 3.5mm jack being stripped out completely, you do realize that it was about time? I can't tell you the countless times my cords on my Bose and on my Sony MDR-7506 and Sennheiser HD-280s and even my regular Apple earphones have gotten snagged on, ripped out of my ear, or shredded the cord entirely because it would snag on a doorknob or backpack or some odd corner. So yes, I welcome the new upgrade to getting rid of the 3.5mm jack. How else are we suppose to move forward if we never take a step into the unknown? The advancement of bluetooth headphones will only get better with time which will result in better, more reliable headphones. Remember when they got rid of the optical drive? Or snipped the cords for the mouse and keyboard? I'd say, isn't it about time we go wireless with out audio?

Since we are paying full price now, I have to wonder if they are actually carrier locked anymore. I'm on Sprint, simply because my brother works for them and we have gotten a great rate plan for years. The down side is the resale value of the Sprint iPhones is worse than the others. No real reason for it since the phones should all be identical now. To make it worse, if you were to buy a 6S from Sprint right now, they uncharge $100 over the unlocked cost from Apple.
Full price will be unlocked (Verizon models are unlocked anyway). I can't remember if there was a difference with bands the 6s/6 Plus full price vs SIM-free.

I buy subsidized every year which makes them free if you sell old one and never pay the "added" charge as my phone lines are always off contract. You just have to convert lines and swap some sims (the 10 a month sims go to the ipad and kiddo's iphone). What's stupid is financing iphones for full price. That is the extra cost you're paying.

So could someone explain this to me? Shouldn't my monthly plan be lower now that the phone is no longer subsidized?

yeah that's the thing. Today I could watch the keynote only because I had the possibility to recharge my phone AT the same time the headphones jack was plugged in. My battery was too low when it started.

Yep, it takes courage to rake in billions in extra sales because of this. That is the motivation, nothing else.

You really think they're going to rake in billions in Air Pod sales? Its an optional extra. I know people have beef with Apple, and everything is always Apple's fault, but not even Apple can force people into buying optional extras.

If some people prefer the convenience of wireless in ear headphones, what actually is the problem? Why can't it just be a about technical advancement and convenience? Why does it have to be about Apple somehow being out to screw the man all the time?

With double the storage...and you're complaining?
What does one have to do with the other? I didn't ask them to change their storage levels, and somehow they still managed to make the second tier the most compelling one anyway. So instead of getting the 64, i'll be getting the 128, and likely not making any more use out of the extra storage capacity. It's such a marketing crock to say "we raised our prices across the board, but hey, look what we threw in extra for you!" Just like how Amazon raised their Prime subscription price to $100 a couple years ago and said "but just think of all the extra features we've given you, like this streaming video service you never use, and also, this streaming music service that you also never use."

The iPhone 7 is certainly a great product, but its price is really not justified.

I hear this a lot, but the sales figures would suggest the price is entirely justified.

Apple can charge what they like. You're one of the intelligent ones that considers the whole of the market and makes an informed choice.

My girlfriend, however, is an Apple worshipper. She will buy an iPhone regardless of price/features/size etc. because she honestly believes nothing else comes close to iPhone (even though she has never, ever owned anything else).

that's funny. i don't agree with you that they are that bad. i have these for listening to music mostly:

http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/t-70-p-select-option-1.html

so i would say i'm pretty selective. also they fit perfectly fine in my ears.

I wonder if the new Apple earbuds will be any better? They've always been the worst, with no ability to seal out surrounding noise or generate any bass. They just kinda sit in your ear and put out ******, tinny sound. A pair of $8 earbuds with silicone adapters from Skullcandy etc are far superior (even tho in general not amazing compared to other more pricey options). I'm surprised that Apple skimps on this and makes such piss poor earbuds given that it's a critical part of the iPhone experience.
