Correct.
It's now $32/month, $36/month, $40/month for the phone itself... plus whatever your service plan is.
But remember... you were always paying for the phone even with the old contracts and "subsidies"
Did you really think you were *only* paying $199 for a brand new iPhone? That your cell carrier was giving you a true subsidy? Or a gift?
No... the retail price of the phone was always built into your monthly phone bill. YOU were paying for it.
At least now you can see it.
And before anyone says "it was cheaper with contracts and subsidies..."
Your overall monthly payments would likely have gone up anyway even if they kept contracts and subsidies. Things like this tend to get more expensive over time... not less. Your cost to own an iPhone in 2016 is higher than it was in 2011. I don't think you can blame that strictly on the loss of contracts and subsidies.
It's difficult to make any sort of comparison between the old way of buying phones and the new way.
Hell... back then you had to choose how many minutes you wanted... how many text messages you wanted... and maybe how much data you wanted. What was that worth?
But today... voice and texts are so devalued that everyone just gets them included. And it's now your data allotment that is the bulk of your bill.
Times change... prices go up. But you're still on the hook for paying for the phone. Just like you always have.
SO, can I use the "new" Lightening Ear Pods with my iPad ?
That's not true. Samsung Galaxy S5 is also IP67 certified - dust and water resistant. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Yeah, lets just incrementally increase prices on everything since it's only pennies more per day when you think about it! God, consumers are stupid.Oh noes. An extra 2.7 cents per day over a typical 2 years of ownership!
My monthly charge hasn't changed one iota. Same price no matter what. I'll be staying with the same carrier, always have.
The difference: I'll be paying about $5-600 more come Friday.
Uh, you're still spending $650-$850, it's just been divided into 24-30 equal payments. You didn't have to pay full price then... and you don't have to now either.
Contracts and "subsidies" may be gone... but payment plans took their place.
You don't HAVE to spend $650-850 on a new iPhone.
I have an outdated car stereo that required a kit to be able to plugin (no bluetooth). I'll have to get another kit $140 plus labor to play via bluetooth.I do it all the time - I just plug in my lightning cable. Charges phone and plays.
This morning during my commute to work. I wanted to kill him.Yeah, we needed more room for the extra speaker, so people could have "Stereo".
When was the last time you saw someone use their iPhone as a boombox?
...What? Haha, digital is literally just 1 and 0's, you cannot get sound from that. You have to process it, using a DAC, or Digital to Analog Converter, and an AMP, or amplifier.Yup, the reason is digital didn't exist when they created the 1/8" audio jack.
Don't know maybe he is looking for a price break if they go 32, 64, 128 and 256 - let's be honest anyone considering an iPhone shouldn't be looking for a deal - besides IOS, you can pretty much get every feature imaginable on the Android side. For the same price you now get 128gb. Why would you want 64?
Apple knows it and they know people who need 2 SIMs will buy 2 iPhones.
Do you think that your Lightning headphones will not be analog, or that the sound waves coming out of them are not analog?Because it's just time to move on and a large enough company needs to start it. It'll be another connectivity war since I think Lightning is apple-only, but kicking the analog bucket continuously down the road isn't the solution.
Does anyone know if any thunderbolt headphones have a power passthrough port?
What is the next game for you? What would make you say "wow"? I'm not being a smart aleck, I'm genuinely curious what it is and what I should be pining for...Apple seems to be in a race this consumer doesn't understand. Faster, better but nothing really new. They cut a few seconds off their best time. Uh, cool? But I'm ready for the next game. Maybe I expect too much. But I'm not sure Apple is winning the race for my money this year.
That's not actually true. 3.5mm headphone jack is analogue, so it has to covert the digital recording into analogue which means quality loss in the sound. Lighting is fully digital. So it will be better quality.
No, but now you can get much better quality A/D converter since that does not happen inside the phone. I really do not understand why so many people fail to see what a tremendous advantage that can be.Sounds like you don't know how audio work. All headphones are analogue. You can't go fully digital.
From the photos, it doesn't look like you can charge while listening to headphones. If true, that's a pretty huge downside. The only option would be to spend more money on wireless headphones of some kind.
That's not huge. It's tiny actually, because you're talking about connecting your head to a wall for extended periods of time. How often do you think people will really want to do this?
You're buying an expensive mobile device (with the best battery life yet for an iPhone) but, oh no, you don't want to spend a few bucks on wireless headphones to avoid routinely connecting your head to a wall???
Also, if that's really what you want to do, you'll be able to buy a pass-through adapter that will allow you to charge and listen to wired headphones at the same time.
This has to be the worst argument for keeping the old headphone jack.
Why do you think that a DAC integrated into a pair of headphones will automatically be better? Especially if we're talking about something as tiny as the Apple earbuds. No, but now you can get much better quality A/D converter since that does not happen inside the phone. I really do not understand why so many people fail to see what a tremendous advantage that can be.
Uh, you're still spending $650-$850, it's just been divided into 24-30 equal payments.
That would have been my motto if they hadn't kicked me out at 18 and asked me to support them. You got the age range wrong. It's between 18 and 25. The Millennials. They're either professional college students or living at home with Mom and Dad until 30. Their motto is "Who needs money when I get everything for free"!
Brexit hurts, man. I paid £619 for my 6 Plus. 7 Plus is £719.
