Finally we get tiling like Windows has had for years. It's one of those things that I have to begrudgingly give Microsoft credit for. No credit for PowerShellWithItsAnnoyinglyVerboseSyntax.

That's a tricky new name to spell 😅

I kind of wish they had just called it macOS 18 without any further acknowledgement or explanation.

Version numbers are almost meaningless anymore anyway. And the entire Mac segment, for many years now, has consisted entirely of "Yeah you just saw the iOS section. That stuff on a Mac. We're done."

the password app could start to make life difficult for 1password :)
I use Bitwarden. The main reason I use it, is because keychain doesn't work with Firefox.

The second reasons I use it, is that it's very customisable. I have a couple of websites that require three bits of information. Bitwarden can handle this and you can, basically, auto-fill any field.

The third reason I use it, is because even in Safari, keychain refuses to believe the enpty box with "password" written above it on my router's config page is a password box!

I'm looking forward to trying the new stand-alone password app, but my guess (and it is just a guess) is that those three issues above will remain.

Password app on windows via iCloud for windows? It already has that and it’s awful. Won’t be using this if no browser extensions for universal compatibility and ease of use. Will remain with Bitwarden

I use bitwarden, it is compatible with Android, windows, mac and Linux.

And Microsoft and Google and Samsung and basically everyone else.

But as usual, this version actually looks a lot slicker and can be sure to work.
Woah woah woah how does it look slicker when it’s literally the same thing from Huawei.. that also works on their pad.

The drag and drop and everything is the same.

Don’t get me wrong. I was waiting this for years. But that’s because I know these are available and working well on Chinese stuff.

This is not innovative, just making that clear. Not knowing this and acting like Apple invented this or perfected this.. makes you and many others in this thread look like an Apple sheep. And other people will laugh at us for being ignorant.

This is catching up, and long overdue. Apple WAS the king of continuity, not any more. Airplay and airdrop also needs lots of update. We should expect Apple to lead, not to follow on these user experience stuff. Especially when people boasts about Apple’s ecosystems

scary. I watched the keynote. no mention that macOS 15 will run on intel Macs. just pictures of apple silicon chips.

I'm loving the new features though. This version has to be the coolest in 3 years of macOS updates.

Hope all features including the OS run on Intel Chip Macs.
To be honest, I am not surprised it will not work on Intel Macs, Intel Macs are at the end of their life cycle.

I hope they finally remove the bug which requires you for the wireless connection to type in the pin on the iPhone a dozen times after every reboot.

No System Settings redesign?

And few other things that rumors assured us were coming. I don’t remember when did rumors miss on so many marks like this time.
Apple typically has a laundry list of smaller updates that are hidden away on their website. The redesigned Settings/System Preferences app in Ventura wasn't a headline keynote feature either.

Which Macs are supported?

1Password and Rectangle. R.I.P.

I don't know. From the video, it looks like when you arrange windows it leaves spaces between them that show the desktop. It's visually distracting and wastes space. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they implemented it, I just wish it took full advantage of the display. If that's not configurable I'll still use Rectangle.

No need to panic, it's right there on the macOS Sequoia preview page. Intel-based Macs are still supported. You can forget about the Apple Intelligence features though. There's a list at the bottom of the page what features are excluded from Intel.

That AI stuff is creepy and invasive anyways.

MacOS had it too, but people don’t know because it’s so obtuse to use. I don’t even remember how to do it (something like holding the option button over the windows) so I‘ve used Magnet for years.

I stay on 1Password, 1Password brings a lot more, specially on the dev, ssh keys and more, also I trust them more than Apple but I hope this force them on DOWN the price.

I also have my eye on ProtonPass due Im a fellow ProtonMail customer.

Let's hope that's an unmentioned feature. I guess it's difficult to say "we un-f*cked the system settings we screwed up so badly".

iPhone Mirroring and iPhone Notifications on Mac: Holy Apple I'm blown away!!!
Phone link on Windows with Android for the last how many years..
Notes from the future where this feature has existed: Most won't even use it. You'll still just look at your phone. You don't want to do phone stuff on your computer.
