Ok I will use the absolute crap out of the phone mirroring. I keep my phone in another room while working and trying to concentrate but sometimes you need to do annoying things like respond to a Microsoft authenticator prompt and being able to just “pull up my phone on my laptop” will be great.
I had the same thought, I have to authenticate like 20 times a day because Salesforce is awesome.

Woah woah woah how does it look slicker when it’s literally the same thing from Huawei.. that also works on their pad.

The drag and drop and everything is the same.

Don’t get me wrong. I was waiting this for years. But that’s because I know these are available and working well on Chinese stuff.

This is not innovative, I just need to spread that knowledge. This is catching up, and long overdue. Apple WAS the king of continuity, not any more. Airplay and airdrop also needs lots of update

OK to be fair I don't know what the Huawei thing looks like. It may well look better.

This is definitely not new. Microsoft has been pushing "Your Phone" in Windows for years. Chromebooks have Android mirroring. Samsung has something like it as well I'm sure.

It's definitely not innovative, Apple may in fact be the very last ones to add this.

I'm just excited to use it, and I hope it works as well as it demoed and isn't locked behind some arbitrary hardware requirement that I don't meet.

Well that's why I bought a super expensive Mac Pro, to have a bigger screen for my phone? I seriously question who is driving innovation (or lack thereof). Such a well made computer that does goofy stuff. I have a heavy investment in this and it's like a bunch of nonsense. Ugh.
I would assume you bought a super expensive Mac Pro because you leverage a bevy of professional-grade third party apps involving heavily parallelized workflows and need to leverage PCIe cards to expand the capabilities of the machine and/or address external hardware. If so then the goofy consumer-oriented features of macOS shouldn't matter (although iPhone Screen Mirroring is a pretty handy convenience feature for consumers and pros alike).

Boy oh boy the iPhone mirroring will come in handy - I'll just throw that on another monitor and use it for those apps I can't use on the Mac - Nest app, crap like that. Gonna be dope. I guess it will suck on the battery even though the screen is locked and off. Also curious about notifications from services that are running on the mac/iphone and how they will work.

They are almost entirely just playing catch up for the last 3-5 years or more.
Coping Android and Windows features.
It's like they have meetings with a wall full of features that others have and talk about if they should implement them too.

That’s fine. I like this and want to use it.

But i think more people need to know this exact implementation is not new, it’s not even up to the level of what’s currently existing. And I want more from Apple because this suite of features are actually very useful

My 2019 iMac is safe for at least one more year according to Apple’s system requirements.

I actually find the dropping of Watch Series 4 and 5 more appalling.

I’m fine with my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9” being left at iPadOS 17. It still feels quick and mostly nimble, so I’d rather have it useful than slowed to a crawl to support the latest iPadOS.

I've not watched the WWDC thing nor read much apart from a couple of threads here, so apologies if this question has been answered already. So ...

Can the mirroring work across networks? I'd love to be able to remotely support family with their iPhone issues by controlling them from my Mac. I'm assuming not.

Same network, apple ID, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled.

you won't use iPhone mirror but there is a separate screen sharing function to use. it was in the keynote.

This is not innovative, just making that clear. Not knowing this and acting like Apple invented this or perfected this.. makes you look like an Apple sheep. This is catching up, and long overdue. Apple WAS the king of continuity, not any more.

I followed your links, and I see a bunch of QR code scanning to get a version of what I already get in Apple's systems. It also falls apart without Apple's ecosystem—the whole power of PCs is that you can draw from many companies. Is there ANYONE who has a full Huawei ecosystem?

It's cute they are doing it, and I love competition, but I've actually been using continuity for years. I read these linked pages, and they let you transfer files, and open mobile apps on the computer...but there's no mention of universal control support where you seamlessly mouse over and work on the tablet. I presume bc you can't.

This is frankly not that impressive, and it certainly isn't anywhere near Apple's continuity and universal control.

happy if you want to show I'm wrong—be my guest. but I did read everything you sent.

iPhone mirror: I clapped and gasped at this one, finally. I'm so excited. my iPhone will be plugged in for most of the time. I can't wait. can't wait.

passwords: jury is out on this one. if you can have offline non iCloud synced passwords I will consider it. if it supports touch/Face ID then maybe. but I'm nervous to tie even more information to an individual Apple ID.

I won't be buying a Silicon MacBook yet, as it would work on my 15" MBP

This is from 3yrs ago. There are much better versions

You can’t say “there’s much better versions” when you haven’t tried Apples version yet.
