Total farce the pricing of these new macbook pros !

Everyone should boycott these models and send apple a message on gross profiteering.

QFT. On a mobile device, a toy like a tablet or smartphone, stripping a port is stupid, but understandable. It's NOT understandable on a laptop.

NOBODY is using Thunderbolt 3! I haven't seen it ANYWHERE! Having 4 of these useless things on the device doesn't help anything. RIP magsafe. :(

Those ports still support USB and and HMDI in addition to Thunderbolt but you will need to buy adapters.

When I worked at Apple a 13 inch MacBook Pro was 1299 and a 15 inch Macbook Pro was 1799. What the truck?

Not happy or surprised with the pricing. I was holding off to pick up a new laptop for my son but it looks like we will be changing brands for the first time in many years. Way over priced for high school and many college students. Disappointed with the direction apple is going. At this price I won't update my Mac book Pro 2013 until it dies.

There is a standard audio jack.
Intel's missed releases benched new Mac prototypes. Numerous delays prompted the decision to release new MacBook's before the holiday season. Updated desktop systems will be released next year as some models require Intel's improvements in integrated graphics while other models will offer professional level BTO options with dedicated GPU's and server class CPU's.
This actually makes a lot of sense, and neatly explains why Apple has seemingly been "asleep at the switch" or "distracted by iDevice Development"

There is nothing that Apple can do when a single-source component vendor like Intel decides to let their own self-imposed deadlines slip. And when that single-source component is something like a CPU or GPU... Bad stuff happens.

That also explains why this refresh is kind of "meh" on the performance-front (although I have heard that Kaby Lake isn't too much better than Skylake anyway).

But thanks for the insider info!

Nope. Adapter or new cables all the way, just like the 12 inch MacBook.
Really????
Man. That seems odd to me. So this must mean that all of our lightning cable stuff will be USB C on the other end by next year. So all the wall plugs and cables we've accumulated will need to bought, lost, bought again, lost and bought again????

These are cool new laptops, but the prices are ridiculous. Especially the upgrade options. For example, Apple charges $300 to upgrade to an i7 processor from the i5 on the cheapest new model, while Intel shows the price difference to be $111. It's $2,000 for the cheapest model without the Touch Bar if you add the i7 and 16GB of ram. The best deal by far is the entry level 15" model.

I love Apple, I love my current MacBookPro. Why am I not happy about the latest upgrade? Forget the rest, the prices are ridiculous. I'm starting to just think that greed now comes before anything else in Cupertino. As for innovation, they are getting lost up their own a** My current machine is good for at least another two years.

I didn't know there were such tariff and trade barriers between USA and Europe... A 400 euros gap between a US high-end macbook pro 13 and a European one??? Give me a break Apple... I will stick with my old MBP until it dies...
I paid 3600 EUR for my 2014 MBP Fully Loaded... To get a fully loaded late 2016 model with the SAME PROCESSOR will set me back 4100 EUR. So I wind up paying 500EUR for the Touchbar which in return will make me look LESS at my Retina display... The should have put in a low quality display since everyone are going to be starring at the touchbar...

But given the fact that folks are becoming so bored with real life, they'll probably LOVE the touchbar and before you know it, they'll be playing games like Pokemon GO on it, just cuz they can and because its new...

WOW - The days of actual invention is GONE @ Apple.... But hey, its SpaceGray !!!!

Fascinating how differently this announcement can be received. I had a MBP15 extremely high on my wishlist. Seeing this product and the pricing mechanism I cannot help but think some guys at Apple took a few drugs too many. I consider this the third time in a row they've shown that for the time being they are unable to properly innovate yet have a self-perception of their product value which seems - at least to me - completely out of sync with reality.
So my bottom-line... while some people still consider this a fascinating and fantastic product and get their wallets ready, I will look at other options and closed mine. And then went to my bank and sold my Apple stock. Time will tell.

That's completely insane. 512GB should be the base with a $100 bump to 1TB and $300 to 3TB
Here's a business idea for you. Buy some 512GB storage and give it away. Charge $100 for a 1TB upgrade and $300 for a 3TB upgrade.

Sure, you'll lose your shirt on every sale, but you'll make it up in volume.

How disappointing. That touch bar gimmick is just that. At least with real keys you can leverage muscle memory. When they keys are not there and they change their position on the tiny screen with every app you'll have to constantly look at it. Seriously? They have spent time and money on this "innovation"? What a waste.

My iMac died last month and I'm really hurting for a new machine but after yesterday's Surface Studio announcement I'm having a really hard time motivating myself to spend any more money on an Apple computer. Especially when it's not even clear if there will ever be another decent desktop from Apple. Jobs was wrong to say that people don't want large format touchscreen desktops. I sure as hell want one. With the Apple Pencil to draw on it. Apple could have been there already a year ago had they not been so pigheaded about this.

They've just peeved off another pro-level long time supporter.

I must say it's absolutely baffling to see Microsoft announce products more exciting for graphics professionals than Apple's offerings the day after....

What a time to be alive! /s

oh the good old days when we had actual Macs. My aging 2011 iMac is likely my last mac unless I buy refurbished/used.
