Guys I have a question:

I need 512gb SSD. If I choose the base 15" and upgrade to 512gb comes at 2529 but the other 15" comes at 2,699 so does it compensate to pay another 150 for the upgraded CPU and GPU? I don't think so... what do you guys thing?

Ordered the 15 inch maxed out except 1TB drive. I did not enjoy ordering but I didn't have much of a choice. Need a new comp since all I have is a 2008 mac pro. Man that is an expensive laptop for us Canadians. Interestingly enough the Surface book is almost exactly the same price.

Wanted to upgrade my MacBook Air 2011 but somehow not blown away by the price/performance of these new MacBook's. The tocuhbar looks like a nice gadget but that's about it..

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So then consumers go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and now the arrogant idiots release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

Apple just finished telling everyone last month that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible outdated technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Right. You should be buy AirPods. I think Apple was quite clear on this matter in their last KeyNote. I don't see the confusion.
Or you should buy $35 bluetooth headphones. They work fine and they last for many hours.
The jack is just there for your legacy devices.

Really glad I didnt wait like I had wanted and got the 12" MacBook.I love this thing. still a good pound and over 1mm lighter/thinner than the 13inch and a good 2 pounds plus lighter than the pro 15".

Let me get this straight...

$1500 for DUAL-core, integrated graphics (not even one or the other), and 8GB
Another $300 for the bar?

For the 15", they could've easily left the functions and put the touch bar on top...

They took out ports that were useful for the MAJORITY of people and put in ports a few uses so they have to buy adapters...

One word.... GREED

I'm really hoping sales tank so Apple can see how much their ripping off their own customers. What a shame, was really hoping to upgrade my MBP.

I have a very ignorant question. Can a regular USB cable (USB side of a lightning cable) plug into the USB C holes on these machines? Or do you have to have an adapter to plug in your lighting cable or any other USB device?

Audio Ports!?! F'n Hell Apple. Now I have to carry one set of lightning headphones for my iPhone7 and a separate pair of analog or usbC headphones just for my mac?! Such a fail!

Bluetooth.

I don't get people who will drop a fortune on Apple products but draw the line on a quality pair of wireless headphones that are more convenient on multiple levels. Some even have a wire port that doesn't require the headphones to be charged if you insist on living in the past.

I didn't know there were such tariff and trade barriers between USA and Europe... A 400 euros gap between a US high-end macbook pro 13 and a European one??? Give me a break Apple... I will stick with my old MBP until it dies...

Looks like I'm gonna buy the previous gen MBP that I skipped over and then most likely never get another apple laptop, sad times.
This is a Pro device that is a big FU to a large number of pro users :(

16 gb ram seems too low for pro users. I have trouble with 32 on iMac.
I was hoping this level would have been raised. Its an issue more with the chipset I suppose?

2016 MacBook Pro with Core i7 Processor... My 2014 MacBook Pro has such a processor.

I like the idea of the new touch bar but I am NOT going to shell out almost 5k EUR to get a MBP with a VERY old Processor. Am I missing something ???? The BTO on Apple.com only offers core i7...

This has to be a joke right ? I mean that would make my 2016 MacBook Pro slower because the same processor has to POWER the EmojiBar...

BTW - the women previewing Final Cut Pro X and the DJ guy BOTH had their eyes RESTED on the Touchbar rather than on the display..... So the touchbar actually forces us to use a smaller display (The Touchbar) instead of the sparkling Retina display... They might as well have made the touchbar twice in size and opted for the 25-year old Active Matrix Display... I mean, if we get around and used to using the Touchbar, then we'll be looking more at that than the display.....

This is not innovation... It is a bummer.... I'd rather have a few icons I can click on on the iPad which does shortkeys on the Mac and has good screen real estate than a tiny tiny touchbar which will force me to take my eyes off the main display... This is a total oversight IMO...

But - the biggest bummer is the dinosaur Core i7 Processor !

I would/will/shall buy if Apple passes it a newer Processor !

Apple today announced the all-new MacBook Pro, confirming that the new computer will come in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, in both Silver and Space Gray color options. The MacBooks are thinner and lighter than their previous generations, come with a Trackpad that's larger than the ones on the previous MacBooks, and have a redesigned keyboard for better typing.

Apple calls it "the most powerful MacBook Pro ever," and the 13-inch model features a 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 8GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage. The 15-inch version has a 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5 GHz, 16GB of memory and 256GB of flash storage. Both computers reach "up to 2.3 times the graphics performance" of the previous generation.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro features Radeon Pro discrete graphics, while the 13-inch model has Intel Iris Graphics. Each edition includes SSDs with sequential read speeds over 3GBps, and the ability to drive a 5K display through a single Thunderbolt 3 port thanks to the technology's consolidation of data transfer, video bandwidth, and charging abilities.

For the display, that means Apple has created "the brightest, most colorful notebook display" ever, with images that are more vivid and lifelike thanks to the screen's 500 nits of brightness. In total, that means the new screen is now 67 percent brighter than the previous generation MacBook Pro, has 67 percent more contrast, "and is the first Mac notebook display to support a wider color gamut." The company said that none of this negatively affects battery life, because with power saving technology in the MacBook -- including a larger pixel aperture, a variable refresh rate and more power-efficient LEDs -- the display now consumes 30 percent less energy.
Regarding ports, the MacBook Pro now has four Thunderbolt 3 ports, any of which can be used to charge the laptop, and Apple has officially done away with MagSafe charging on its MacBook Pro line. The enclosure of the MacBook features an entirely new design and all-metal unibody construction, and the 13-inch model is 14.9 mm thin while the 15-inch option is 15.5 mm thin.

In comparison to the last edition of the MacBook Pro, the 13-inch model is 17 percent thinner and has 23 percent less volume, while the 15-inch is 14 percent thinner and 20 percent less volume. In terms of weight, the 13-inch is 3 pounds and the 15-inch is 4 pounds, both devices coming in at nearly half a pound lighter than their previous iterations.

Of course, the biggest addition to the MacBook Pro is the new "Touch Bar," which sits atop the keyboard and officially replaces the function keys on the laptop. As was rumored, Touch Bar is application specific and adapts to what's on screen, be it scrolling through months in Calendar, choosing an album in Photos, selecting emoji in Messages, and many more, including third-party apps like Microsoft Office.

Another advantage is Touch ID, which comes integrated into the power button on the new MacBook Pro. Once a user enrolls their fingerprint into the Touch ID system on MacBook, they can unlock the computer with the simple press of a finger, switch user accounts, and even make purchases with Apple Pay's new integration on the web.

A second generation butterfly mechanism in the keyboard provides more responsive typing. Below the keyboard, Apple expanded the Trackpad to be 50 percent larger in the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and twice as large than previous models on the 15-inch MacBook Pro. The speakers got an overhaul, too, with louder, more true-to-life sound that have double the dynamic range and improved bass.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,799, while the 15-inch starts at $2,399, and both devices can be pre-ordered today with a shipping date of 1-2 weeks. Apple has also decided to not create a new "Air" model, instead introducing an entry-level MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar that begins at $1,499, and it's on sale now on Apple.com.

Ouch... prices just stopped me from buying. *I understand new features require higher prices, but (for me personally) it's not enough to justify the price jump.
It's the same price point as before. Faster speeds, lighter and thinner, more features... same price. This is a problem how?

Bluetooth.

Bluetooth sound quality still sucks compared to the "ancient" headphone jack.

Nope. Adapter or new cables all the way, just like the 12 inch MacBook.

There are no pro machines available at all anymore.
This is the sad, sad, sad final straw that is really pushing me away from Apple, after more than 20 years of loyalty to the brand.

Unless you count the Thunderbolt-happy $4,000 Mac Pro, they really do have no pro machines left. Everything has been sacrificed at the Alter of Thin! What do I have left to hold on to? The OS crippled by iOSification? Give me a BREAK!

so let me get this straight. First the iPhone got rid of 3.5 audio but kept the very specific lightning port, then the macbook loses usb but keeps the audio port while lacking a lightning port for apple brand headphones AND becomes ungodly expensive? what are they smoking?! I want some of whatever it is! And I know this is going to stir up a lot of hardcore apple people, but here comes 1997 again for apple. what are they even thinking at this point?
