I believe it's new naming standardKinda interesting that it’s listed as iPad mini (A17 Pro) instead of iPad mini 7 or 7th generation. Though M-series Airs and Pros are named similarly.

So it sounds like they don’t offer a better product for your use case this is the iPad mini but you are expecting features currently only available on the pro line.Elementary, Watson, they do not run iOS/iPadOS. 😋 Besides, I was talking about a component, not a product, making a point it can be done and still remain profitable enough.
It's been a little inconsistent, although the last couple generations have used the latest A series chip available at the time. Looking at the history of the Mini:First time the mini does not get the latest generation chip?
Let the complaints begin.
I’d say he’s far from being the biggest evangelist of the iPad - he’s definitely not the target audience of the product and it’s been clear for a long time.Federico, the biggest iPad evangelist on the planet, has summed this up really well
Apple -- when you're losing people like this, you are lost yourself

Certainly 8 GB for Apple Intelligence.I wonder how much RAM. 6 GB? 8 GB?
Yeah sure but if you're interestd in the iPad mini 7 chances are you own the 6 and most likely already own a Pencil 2 so if you want to upgrade you're looking at the cost of the new iPad + $149 for the new pencil. At this point it's just greedy. It should also support the Apple Pencil (USB‑C).
I just want a great display in a really portable size.
It doesn’t look like it: https://support.apple.com/en-lamr/105075Does it support stage manager and external display? It’d be a shame if it doesn’t.
Either we will get no event with daily drops of new models during this and maybe next week (most likely), or they will show something so awesome during the event that there’s not room for an iPad Mini (don’t hold your breath).I wonder if this means no event? Still. My mini 6 is just fine.
The entitlement in the comments that this was announced with a press release and not an event is just hilarious.
They haven’t, according to the graphics on the comparison page. While the new pencil was a prerequisite for moving the camera on the other models, the inverse doesn’t hold.Does support of new pencil means they moved camera to horizontal orientation?
Fair point but it still seems like a hole in the product line.Just buy previous gen.
Apple makes up whatever BS they want to rationalize their weirdness. For a decade they said they just couldn't figure out how to do a calculator or weather app for iPad and the suddenly they brag about having those apps 14 years after iPad launched. They haven’t, according to the graphics on the comparison page. So is the A17 Pro variant used in the new mini. Meaning it’s still worse than a correspondingly binned A18 would be.But the A15 chip in the Gen 6 Mini was binned. As in slightly crippled.
Makes a lot more sense than a generation number, when the products aren’t updated yearly. And fits with Macs - I don’t have a generation whatever Mac, I have an M1 Mac, and some have an M3 Mac, while others have an M3 Pro Mac. Very sensible and useful.I believe it's new naming standard
Anyone else kinda want an "iPad Pro Mini" of sorts that has tiny bezels, 9" display, OLED, and 120Hz? I feel like that would be a great size for content consumption when traveling or to throw on the coffee table as a lightweight couch computer. Then we would have 9", 11", and 13" Pro models starting at $699, $999, and $1299.
I don't even want to do anything "Pro" with it, I just want a great display in a really portable size.
No, unless there’s a specific spec/feature you have a strong need/want for.does it make sense to trade in my iPad Air 4 for this? They offer me over 200 bucks
