Lucky for them literally 99.99999% of people really don’t care or even notice ….

60Hz and 120Hz is absolutely something people will notice.

ProMotion has always been a "Pro only" feature, so unless or until the regular lineup receives it, I wouldn't think the Mini would get it either.

Label 102Hz screen as Pro only feature is something “Only Apple can do”.

Well, in fairness, some devs are defending it.

So there ya have it
Apple can get away with doing "almost nothing" now, because that are always people who will defend it.

It's really a sad sad time in Apple land in my view

That price….

They need a cheap mini that costs less than the $350 the current low-end iPad goes for. A $199 mini would sell well, but even $250 would be a good price.
But the iPad Mini was never a low-end or entry-level iPad.
It’s wrong to think small means low-end—quite the opposite.

The standard iPad is the entry-level device. The Mini has always been a more niche, luxury second iPad kind of product.

I’m so glad it has a laminated screen, unlike the standard iPad.

Agree. It’s just hard going to 60hz touch displays after using 120hz. Definitely think promotion should be added to iPad / mini / air in lockstep with standard iPhone (should they ever receive it).

i wasn't expecting 120hz and I still think it's a eyeroll worthy update. if they weren't going to do anything meaningful, this kind of thing should have happened 5 months ago in May with the rest of the iPad lineup.

It's not that it's a bad release, it's just meh. The best thing one can say is you are getting 2 times the ram going from 4 to 8 gb ram. Other than that, it is a subpar update.

Confirmed: when Apple calls something mini it translates to “glorified economy class iPad for small hands”. Or in plain words: “Just buy iPhone Pro Max”.

Literally no M series chip, 12MP camera, fantastic. It would be fun if they unveil SE 4 with 48MP😂

Although tbh I am not in the market for iPad Mini anyway, had been using 9.7 inch since 2010. I just don’t understand what is the point of such underpowered iPad, feels like Apple themself hate mini series and don’t invest anything into it, like if it was a failing project they are about to close

The thing that bums me out is that (AFAIK) nobody is building a premium mini tablet outside of Apple, so I can't even get pissed and buy a Samsung. 😂

The only thing I cared about was an updated display. I got sick when using the display on the Mini 6 for more than 20 minutes, and had to return it.

They updated all the other specs (chip, ram, storage), but not the one that I needed.. 🥲
Would have preferred it the other way around.

Me too
The only two reasonable options for me and my iPad Mini 5 dying battery model are:

1. Buy a new battery for $120
2. Buy a refurb'd/used Mini 5 for $200-300 that hopefully has a better battery situation

I'll probably go with option #2

Interesting that they kept the "Pro" name for the processor despite it being used on a non-Pro product. It's confusing. They could easily have called it "A17" and justified the absence of Pro suffix by the fact that it includes 5 GPU cores instead of 6. Weird marketing. I presume they painted themselves into a corner by saying that Apple Intelligence requires A17 Pro or higher.
99% of consumers will give this zero thought and probably couldn't tell you what processor is in any of their devices. Those who do know and care probably know enough to not be confused.
