People still complaining about a17 pro overheating issues? Wasn't that solved within the first month after the iphone 15 pro released with a software fix?
People have a long memory of short problems...

No M1 is a big mistake, a new iPad without at least that is almost already obsolete at launch because there are already certain features and apps that at a minimum require it. Very odd decision unless it’s now considered an iPad SE rather than Mini which used to mean high spec, small size.
The M series chips require a larger body for heat dissipation. This was never in the cards for the mini. They could have gone for an A18 though.

Does it have stereo audio?, I’m shocked that my ninth generation iPad is still is mono, the iPhone 7 had stereo a long time ago. o_O
Yes, it has a speaker on the each of the narrow sides, apples website lists “stereo landscape speakers” same as the Mini 6th gen which it’s continuing to use the same body.
Does it have ProMotion? Didn’t see any mention about it. I ain’t buying something in 2024 with a screen from the 90s
An upgrade like that would have definitely been mentioned. Safe to assume it’s the exact same screen as the Mini 6th gen.

Thanks. That’s a bummer, was looking at getting one of these to use as my main/only computer. Maybe the mini 8 will have it.
It seems that Apple sees Stage Manager primarily for the laptop-style usage of an iPad, and the external-display mode only as a secondary extension of that, and the mini’s screen is just too small for the former.

I don't know how anyone can defend this release

This is not an annual release product (3 year cycle in fact!) and this is so incredibly "nothing" of an update, it boggles the mind
I'm not currently in the market for a Mini so I'm not up on what's out there but I am curious what you (and other posters) would like to have in an updated iPad Mini.

Jelly scrolling being fixed would certainly be top of the list for me.

nice little increase to keep this around, the Mini is probably the best iPad so far. I love my 11-inch Pro, but the mini gets more use.

but would love to see Apple get away from Starlight, much prefer the original Apple colors of White/Aluminum/Silver and Black.

Is it usually a $150 difference for cellular VS WiFi? I want a mini to use as a DIY car dash, and was holding out to see if we’d get an update.

I would want a cellular one but for $150 more I’ll just use hotspot lmao

Apple today announced a significant upgrade to the iPad mini, now featuring an A17 Pro chip and support for the company's new Apple Intelligence system. The refreshed seventh-generation tablet maintains its compact 8.3-inch design while offering notable performance improvements and new capabilities.

The A17 Pro chip brings a 30% boost in CPU performance and a 25% increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation, according to Apple.

The new iPad mini also gains support for Apple Pencil Pro, which introduces pressure sensitivity, haptic feedback, and gesture controls. Other improvements include Wi-Fi 6E support, faster USB-C data transfer, and an upgraded 12MP wide camera with Smart HDR 4.

Apple Intelligence offers features improved writing tools, image generation, and enhanced task automation. The system utilizes both on-device processing and cloud-based models to balance performance and privacy. The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in U.S. English this month through a free software update with iPadOS 18.1.

Available in four colors, including new blue and purple options, the new iPad mini with Wi-Fi starts at $499 for 128GB of storage (double the minimum storage of the previous generation), and $649 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The new iPad mini is also available in 256GB and 512GB configurations.

Pre-orders begin today, with availability starting October 23. A new Smart Folio, available in charcoal gray, light violet, denim, and sage, is also available for $59.

The Apple Pencil support is the killer feature in my opinion, while I prefer larger screens (I have a 12.9-inch iPad), all iPads should support the pencil.

Majority of users don't care and don't notice 60Hz on an ipad/iphone. That's who Apple is targeting. That is why Apple makes the decisions they do.

People who care about specs, make up the minority of Apple customers.

It is not about care or notice. It is about Apple is making subpar experiences for people who buy non-pro product.

There is absolutely no reason to not include ProMention display on all products in 2024.

And I highly doubt only minority of Apple customers cares about spec.
