Has the Macbook Air had an updated processor too or is it just the 8GB standard RAM on 13" as the only change since the 2015 model?

1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz) with 3MB shared L3 cache

Configurable to 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz) with 4MB shared L3 cache.

The same, I believe.

One of the worst things you could do to your battery (phone, laptop, iPad) is to constantly plug and plug it; and that's exactly what a single port does for this one.

Wonder how bad the battery will be after a year or so of use
Sure, completely ignore the engineering Apple does for their complete battery systems and instead parrot common wisdom from the 90's. I'm sure that will get you somewhere....

No TB-3? No USB 3.1? No 2nd port? No 14" model?

At least I don't need to feel like I failed being an early adopter. Can still love my 2015 model without feeling like I am missing out!

Also - 13" MBA's got 8GB RAM standard as their update...so they did get updated! :p Wonder if the 13" will get an early 2016 model designation because of that? Ha!

In order to get TB3 and USB 3.1, Gen 2, they would have needed to add an Alpine Ridge controller onto the board. This controller is far to big to fit onto the logic board of the MacBook...and apparently it's power hungry too!

There is no room for a 2nd USB port. Take a look at the iFixit teardown. It is cramped on the inside and the keyboard is in the way.

The 14" was just a wish people had. There was never any credible rumors or reasons to think that one would actually be released.

So i'm guessing then its still classed as a 2015 Macbook Air not a 2016 one. Just not available as a 4GB RAM option.

It sounds like they are doing with the MBA the same as they did with the cMBP. Just keep it in the line-up and reduce the price (which is effectively what the free 8GB bump is) so that you still have an entry-level model, but no longer update it. I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future they finally remove the cMBP, and the 11" MBA as well.

What I find interesting is that not only Air is still around, but got a bump to 8 GB (13") for free. So essentially Apple dropped their prices. It's the second time this year, apocalypse must be near!
Nice catch!

But they forgot to update the price on the rMB :(

I guess I'll wait for a deal. Was hoping to see them go to $999/$1299. That feels more like the right price range to me.

They might want to change the Buyer's Guide recommendation from "Don't Buy"!

Underwhelming all the way around. Still stuck with two compromise devices just like we were yesterday.

My daughter is going to college this fall and wanted a Mac for graduation. I'm sure her eyes will get all shiny over the Rose Gold MacBook. I was dreaming of an updated screen for the MBA...(knew it wasn't going to happen though).

Don't look at this model for college, the Pro is much more appropriate.

I was patiently waiting for this update, but I will probably still wait for the price to drop later on in the year. I think this one will finally have the internals I will require, but I like it better around $1200 for the higher end model.I'm glad they did update it though.
