I have the opposite problem - mine always want to connect to my iMac even when I am actively using them with my iPhone. It now just keeps popping up an "AirPods Pro are nearby" alert instead of actively switching to the iMac, so that's a plus. :)
I had to set mine to not automatically connect on the Mac. It kept trying to "steal" the AirPods from my iPhone while I was on a call and using the Mac at the same time.

Does anyone have a problem with AirPod Pro just randomly disconnecting? Sometimes the sound will go out but it looks like music still continuing but if I restart app it works again.
Yeah that problem has been present since the very first iOS 14.5 beta. Hopefully it will get fixed with this or a future update. I always disconnect really quickly and reconnect.

We have 4 AirPod products in our house, 2 AirPods 2nd gen and 2 AirPods Pro.
But to be honest I can't be arsed to bother updating them. If it happens it happens.
Suffering from update fatigue lately what with having 4 iOS devices and an iMac.

Let's hope they finally restored the good noise cancellation.
if you have been following that, some of the people who said it was downgraded actually retracted their claims, so I believe the whole thing is a made up issue in the first place. It has always worked so well for me I can't hear people talking to me with it on

No this is not happening to me at all. could it be radio interference? Bluetooth is a crowded spectrum sometimes

you can set it to automatic. thank-you very much and hold the applause

11.3 helped a lot with the auto switching, but hopefully this firmware helps with the last bug I have with my AirPod Pros. Listening to Music on my iPhone sitting next to my Mac and a call comes in. Answer the call with the AirPod Pros and it answers on the Mac instead of my phone and my music resumes while the call goes on the Mac. Not fun.

So it's not just me! Really irritating at times, hopefully this is fixed in the new firmware.
fix is simple. underbluetooth, select info for your AirPods Pro, and change connect to this phone to "when last connected to this Phone". the automatic option tries to follow you around to which device you are using. That is how it is designed, so turn it off

The fact they work well for you means very little in the context of this argument. You're satisfied and that is great for you.

I bought APP on day 1 and the noise cancellation has never been as good as that initial firmware and it was a significant reduction. While they are good enough for most of my needs, Apple should provide firmware release notes and give people the option to update or not.

My issue with auto switching is when I’m watching a video on my MBP using the AirPods and dare to touch my iPhone and they stupidly switch to the phone. Had to turn off auto connect on iPhone. So dumb.

I've had that selected for as long as I've owned the APP, still they sometimes like to connect to whatever they choose :)

But thanks anyway!

I am curious to see if they add anything new or just bug fixes. My AirPod Pros have not been switching between devices without some minor issues lately.
Yeah there’s been issues switching between Mac and iPhone. Especially when playing YouTube videos on Mac.

Ooh! Wonder if it fixes the long running issue of it losing settings. Thread below - funnily enough, just today I posted how I've completely given up on it ever being fixed.

We shall see! Had this prob since about September 2020. I started the thread months after experiencing it.

yah, that is legit. I thought it had something to do with my Mac settings, but it hasn't bothered me enough to try to fix it again. Last time I tried it did not work

I find connecting to mac a problem, they connect for a few seconds, disconnect. then I have to manually connect them.
Only filled a BR to apple yesterday on this.
works great on my 2014 MBP. I just tried playing music on iPhone, opened Music and selected AirPods Pro, switched fine. still playing fine. Did you try to reset bluetooth module on Mac? Shift+Alt+ bluetooth icon in menu bar

There was a very real issue with a firmware release (2C54) in late 2019 that destroyed active noise cancellation. It took a long time for Apple to address, but a firmware update in May 2020 (2D15) restored the level of active noise cancellation close to what it had been prior to the bad firmware.

It's because of this that I approach any AirPods Pro firmware release with a lot of hesitancy.

Hope they fix noise canceling for phone calls. I use AirPods Pro for work and people often tell me that background noise is louder than I am. My old cheap Jabra did way better in that respect.

It isn't. How long have you had your AirPods Pro? I ordered mine on day 1 and have been through all of the firmwares. The difference since 2C54 is clear. (No pun intended)

And yes, firmware 2D15 helped restore ANC to a limited extent, but it is not as good as it originally was.

Happily using my on-ear AirPods gen 2. Not interested with in-ear products. But that’s just me. ;)

Switching between devices is not always smooth in my experience. The latest OSs updates allegedly fix some things, and hopefully this firmware update will continue in the right direction.
In my case it's worse than not smooth...it barely works. When I am trying to watch or listen on my iPad, my pros connect to my phone. Yet, I can be upstairs, away from the iPad but with the phone in hand, wanting to connect to it...and they go to the iPad instead. I used to see the blue "switching" logo and now that doesn't even come up anymore, so it just doesn't work. Updating each device to 14.5 did nothing to change it!
