ANC working much much better for me now. Went for a run in Central Park (keeping appropriate distance from everyone!) and couldn't hear a single damn thing around me, the way it was when I first got them on launch day.

I also can't get my fit test to pass anymore, but I'm not concerned about it. All I care about is if they work from my perspective, not from a machine's perspective.

Mine updated in minutes. Plugged the case in, opened the lid and left it next to the phone. I am looking forward to observing any differences in ANC. I was underwhelmed with the amount of noise ANC let in. Problem is I don't use these as much these days as they predominantly got used daily at the gym, and we know that ain't happening.

Upgrade went fine but afterwards had static in the left pod. Never had that before. Unpaired Airpods, restarted phone, then re-paired AirPods and that worked. No more static in the left one.

I got my AirPods Pro new in early April (backordered from March), and they came with the old 2b588 firmware. When I read this article the other day, they were still on that firmware, and the ANC worked fantastic. I went outside in an urban environment and it was remarkably quiet in my ears. They've since upgraded to 2D15 despite not having been plugged into lightning (mac usb or power). The noise cancellation seems as good as it had been so far in the house and listening to music, but I haven't been outside or taken a phone call yet. One thing I continue to have is confusion between the Watch, the iPhone, and the AirPods (connected to the phone) as to who's going to respond to "Hey Siri".

When I got the Airpods Pro, they had the 2b588 firmware, and when I updated to the 3rd firmware version, the ANC was so much worse that I returned them. I purchased another pair and was careful to keep them on 2b588.

Like everyone else, my Airpods updated to 2D15 despite my efforts to prevent it, but the ANC sounds just as good as the 2b588 to my ear. The bass response sounds better, too. Whew!

I agree with those that say the current state of our airpods are not the same as back in Oct. ive noticed the ANC get worse, although not by a lot. I have more issues recently with fit and a low end boomy noise in the left ear when ambient noise gets high, like a car going past close to me. Also noticed a click in my right one sometimes when i move.
Ive been living with this but thought I’d try my luck at getting the left one replaced. Spoke to apple on Wed afternoon. New one arrived Thursday morning. it works ok, not been out with it yet, but i did notice a slight shift in low end towards the new one. It just seemed more full sounding. It’s not a huge volume difference, but it made the pair unbalanced. Got on to Apple and I Got the replacement this morning.
The overal sound is a bit stronger, and i do believe ANC is a bit better than it was a week again. I sit next to an Alexa, and my GF often uses it for music. This morning i could hardly hear it over some YT i was watching. Last week i had to turn Alexa down.

One thing i noticed with the old ones is a very noticeable join in the casing. The new one is almost invisible. I’m wondering if this is possibly showing that the casting has changed very slightly over time. I used to have no issues with the ear fit test before, but recently the left has been failing most of the time, and when i get it right the right seems to fail.
ive also noticed, and proved this to myself, that the ear fit test has a major flaw. Once i had the right ear blocked by mistake, it had a small pice of plastic covering the outlet from the ear tip holder. It sounded very poor as you might expect, but the ear fit test kept telling me it was the left ear not in correctly.

Rattling?
[automerge]1588907080[/automerge]

Had it in one. Just got the replacement last Friday. No rattle now.

I had the rattling - more like a clicking sound really - in one of them, and Apple replaced both under warranty. Would happen only with the active features (ANC & Transparency) but work fine with those turned off. The new ones work fine and continue to do so after the update to 2D15.

Here's a great post about this firmware update... 🤗

AirPods Pro - 2D15 Feedback and Thoughts (REDDIT)

Meh, they entirely gloss over what I consider to be the most noticeable change - transparency mode is no longer over-amplified but instead sounds very close to having nothing at all in your ears. I stopped reading when they claimed it sounded the same.

If you’ve kept your grilles clean and know how to get a good seal, the differences between ANC have been quite small among versions.

I'm running 2D15 and the callers on the other end of the line or during conference calls says my background noise is really noticeable, I'm inside my house and there are some cars passing quietly outside and people think I'm standing on the freeway it's so loud. This just starting happening recently so I'm wondering if it's because apple messed up something with 2D15? Anyone else noticing the same?

I take it back: The new firmware does not cancel the mowers and edgers outside as effectively as the 2b588 firmware. Bass does sound better, but I’d rather have the more effective noise canceling.

Can we just straighten this out once and for all: The rattling is not a firmware issue. It happens when dust or debris gets stuck in the ANC / Transparency mics. You need to get that replaced by Apple.

Apple today released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro, upgrading the previous firmware, version 2C54 or 2B588, to the new firmware, 2D15.

airpodsprodesigncase.jpg

There is no word on what's new in the refreshed firmware at this time, though there have been some complaints from AirPods Pro users about Active Noise Cancellation issues with the prior firmware.

There's no clear cut way to upgrade the firmware of the AirPods Pro, with the new firmware installed over-the-air while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device. Putting the ?AirPods? in the case, connecting the ?AirPods? to a power source, and then pairing the ?AirPods? to an iPhone or an iPad should force the update after a short period of time.

Check your AirPods Pro firmware by following these steps:
  1. Make sure the ?AirPods? are connected to your iOS device.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Tap About.
  5. Tap ?AirPods?.
  6. Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
Apple in December released the 2C54 firmware update, but later pulled it, so some people who updated have the 2C54 firmware while others are still on 2B588.

AirPods Pro firmware updates often include performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature tweaks, but we may not find out what's new as Apple does not provide any kind of release notes for ?AirPods updates. There is no update for the standard AirPods at this time.

Can someone help me? My airpods just dont show on general/about! What can this be?
I have an iPhone 7 Plus!

i have to pairs of airpods pro and they just stop playing music constantly, They dont work well, i hope updates can fix but.. cant find the airpods on phone..

Since updating, I just can't get the right ear to pass the fit test. Tried all tips, etc. Not a big deal, but why would it pass before and not now? Also, anyone notice distortion when using these with another non-apple device? I get distortion from my Peloton in the right ear? I don't get this with my iPhone. Should I call Apple or think its more the Peloton stream? I haven't tried shutting off NC but I will. Curious if others found anything similar?

Do you have the case open when you check for them?

I'm not using mine with non-Apple devices, but I have the crackling problem in my second AirPod and that one will not "pass" the fit test regardless of which tip is used. I had the problem with the other one, but the fit test is fine now that I've had it replaced. I suspect the inability to pass the fit test is related to the crackling problem.

The airpods pro need to be connected, for them to show in general/about.

May or may not help, but my airpods constantly drop out using my iPhone SE (1st gen) on ios 12.4.1, using them with my iphone SE (2nd gen) on ios 13.4.1 work flawlessly.

Thank you. I determined it was also doing it with my phone as well. Contacted support. Replacement set on the way.

Question - didn't want to start a thread just for this, my right pod is distorted and has static. Apple is shipping me just a new right one. Is this normal procedure? I could have sworn folks here got a complete replacement set even if one was bad?

Apple prefers to send one but if you push they will probably send both.

I received a replacement AirPod for the Pro and the new firmware on that left earpiece is behind the case and the right so they won't mate in the case. I tried a number of things this weekend to force it to upgrade and nothing worked.

1. I left the case open with that earpiece only and it was paired to the iPhone
2. I did the same with both earpieces.
3. I tried it without power and with power.
4. I tried it with the case closed.

Nothing. Anyone have any other ideas on how to get this to upgrade OR get these non-equal firmware versions to work together. I don't want to return my messed up one until I can make sure this one works.

Thanks!
